IBM Cognos TM1 is an enterprise planning software platform that can transform

your entire planning cycle, from target setting and budgeting to reporting,
scorecarding, analysis and forecasting.
The following example is a demo from the IB M Cog nos T M 1: Creat e
S corecards (v10.2) one-day instructor-led course. This course teaches scorecard
developers how to create scorecarding solutions in TM1. Participants will learn how to
create all of the necessary scorecarding objects such as metrics cubes, diagrams, and
maps, deploy the solution to the Web for end-user consumption, and create an

Demo 1: Explore a Scorecarding Application

Purpose:
You have been asked to create a scorecarding solution for the
Sample Great Outdoors company. You will start by examining an
example scorecarding application to understand how users interact
with these applications and the objects they contain.
Task 1. Open and explore a scorecarding application.

Open Internet Explorer, and then go to http://localhost:9510/pmpsvc.

Log in as admin with the password apple.

The IBM Cognos TM1 Applications portal appears listing all TM1 applications
that are available to you.

Click go_scorecards.
The results appear as follows:

A workflow page appears showing details about the application such as who
owns the application and when data was last committed to the server. You want
to open the application in IBM Cognos Insight.

Right-click go_scorecards, and then click Open Cognos Insight Connected.

The results appear as follows:

This is a corporate scorecarding application designed to help senior managers

and directors assess the performance of the company as a whole.
A scorecard developer has created a layout for this application in Cognos
Insight that includes graphics, descriptive text, and action buttons to help users
find information quickly, and has placed objects on separate tabs to organize
the content.

Click the Scorecards button.

The results appear as follows:

The Scorecards tab contains views for several metrics cubes for various units in
the company. This cube view shows metrics for the entire company. The Status
symbols show you how each metric is performing compared to target, and the
Trend symbols show you how each metric is performing compared to last
period.

In the Explore Point filters on the left, click Australia and 2012.
The cube is now filtered to show data you specified.

Click each of the tabs at the top of the workspace to view all of the metrics
cubes. You can click and drag to expand column widths and row heights as
needed.
Notice that all cubes are filtered to show data for 2012 and Australia.

Click the Strategy map tab at the bottom of the workspace.

The results appear as follows:

This shows the objectives the company wants to achieve within four areas of
the business. The arrows show how the objectives relate to one another. The
color of the objective indicates whether or not the objective is being met, based
on the performance of the metrics that relate to that objective.
Right now the company is not expanding new markets or growing revenue as
well as planned, but is doing a good job of reducing expenses and improving
the customer experience.

Point to each objective to see more details about the metrics for each.

10. Click the Impact diagram tab at the bottom of the workspace.
The results appear as follows:

This diagram helps determine why certain metrics are on or off target. For
example, gross profit is close to being on target, but would be performing better
if sales revenue was improved.
11. Expand Sales revenue and its impacting metrics to determine what is causing
sales revenue to be off target.

12. Click the Custom diagram tab at the bottom of the workspace.
The results appear as follows:

This tab contains two custom diagrams that show performance over time using
a process flow graphic, and geographically using a world map graphic.
13. Close all open windows without saving any changes.
