highest power of the soul, and it is a sad thing when the lord and master follows in the wake of the
rabble of the passions. Favorite maxims; Im human, nothing human is foreign to me (Terence). Hold
fast and hold yourself in check, the aim of your endeavors is within you, do not seek it outside
(Persilis). Do not give way to misfortune, but confront it with all the true greater courage (Virgil).

No artistic sense, dont play musical instrument. Music only arouse emotion and leaves nothing
behind. Like john Locke, who discourages music and poetry.
Islam
1. Practice
Muhammad from Ishmel (eldest son of Abraham), Moses/Jesus from Issac
Islam = self-surrender; Muslim = the self-surrendered one.
Muhammad, born 570 AC in Mecca of father Abdulla and mother Aminah; married at 25 to the 40-yr-old Khadijs;
during the meditation (at 40) through Archangel Gabriel God revealed to him (Koran = revelation) for 23 years.
622 AD Higira to Madinah, a north city 260 miles from mecca, beginning of the Muslim calendar. Returned
after several years, died at 63.
Sunnah practice and example of the prophet
5 components of Islam; 1) Belief in God and Muhammad; 2) dialy prayer (5x); 3). Almsgiving; 4) fasting the
month of Ramdan from dawn to sundown; 5) Pilgrimage to Mecca 12th month of the Islamic lunar year.
Iman = faith; Salah = prayer; Zakah = almsgiving; Sawm = fasting; Hajj = pilgrimage go around the Kabah 7
times, between Hills of Safa and Marina, (as Abrahams wife hagar did in search for water0; then stand on the
plains of Arafat (a desert outside Mecca) praying. Hagjj is ended in festival (???)
2. What does Islam think of Jesus; call Jesus the greatest Gods prophet, confirm virgin birth (3:5?); miracles of
Jesus (3:49); one chapter is titled Mary; Muhammad is just a messenger.
3. How to become one? Profess in mouth, then all sins will be forgiven.
3. However, Islam thinks Jesus was just another prophet who was turned into God by His disciples. Incarnation
is an exaggeration. No one can intercedes and forgive our sinds. Our own conduct determines if we go to
Paradise or Hell
After the court room trial. Salvation comes from self-control and fear of Hereafter. Day of Judgment will come

Wordly life is a preparation for eternal life (23: 99-104). Consequence of denying life-after-death: the tribes of
