LETTER OF INTENT

Dear Hiring Manager,

As a Graduate student in Electrical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder with
emphasis on Embedded Systems and Image processing, I am keenly interested in securing a
full time opportunity at______. A professional experience at ______ will enrich my learning
process and be the ideal fuel to propel my career to greater heights.
Coming from a strong academic platform complemented with a wide array of projects, I have
always believed in bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical
implementation by exploring for novel solutions to real life problems. Every graduate course
I have taken has widened my knowledge base and trained me with skills which I yearn to
apply in a professional working environment for the advancement of society.
I have a comprehensive working knowledge of Unix, perl, ant scripting which I developed
during my two year stint at Wells Fargo as a Senior Analyst. I shouldered the responsibility of
leading major application releases by orchestrating several teams from different
geographies and was recognized through awards for my concerted efforts to automate daily
admin tasks and for streamlining the process of game plan optimization; I thrived and grew
as a part of a cross cultural team.
I spent an eventful summer at Webscan, Colorado as a Software Engineering Intern where I
assisted in developing creative algorithms to isolate and classify barcodes. I was able to
apply my knowledge of signal and Image processing principles such as FFTs, Hough
Transforms and Filters to design solutions that drastically reduced implementation time and
was robust to lighting conditions. In addition, I familiarized myself with the professional
environment and found myself at home, having adapted to the existing framework.
In addition to professional experiences, I have developed a broad spectrum of competencies
through projects which have augmented my passion for Technology, Mathematics and
Science. My ongoing research work with Prof. Sam Siewert, on developing multi spectral
image fusion algorithms in CUDA and a comparative analysis of power profiling of
continuous transforms on GP-GPU and FPGA, has produced a research paper which was
presented at the SPIE Conference, Baltimore. In addition, I assisted Prof. Dan Connors in
furthering research on dynamically scheduled workgroups in OpenCL and am currently
working on an IoT home security sensor hub that incorporates low energy programming
techniques to alert a user when conditions become sub optimal.
My emphasis on dwelling deeper into subjects and pushing the conventional boundaries
have aided me in associating seemingly disparate topics which has culminated in novel
solutions. I designed an efficient algorithm in C and Matlab to detect real time defects in
fabrics as a part of my internship project. The challenge lay in designing the code with
minimal time and space complexities. The success of my approach helped me publish a
research paper in OPTIKS. I continued this trend during my graduate studies where I worked
on developing a Driver Assistance System using principles of image processing on a GP-GPU
platform, Real time Scheduling and Threading. Also, notable was the Interactive Voice
Response project which incorporated my understanding of the ARM architecture and driver
programming to the problem of speech recognition.
In addition to my strong academic background, I bring to the table, strong interpersonal
skills backed up with my creativity, tenacity, diligence and desire to succeed in every
endeavor I commit myself to. My composure in trying times, ability to think laterally,
communication skills and insatiable hunger for knowledge are qualities that differentiate me
from the rest.
To reiterate, I believe I possess the right blend of technical and interpersonal skills to
contribute proficiently to the organization. The prospect of working along with brilliant minds
at ______, excites me as it offers me with the ideal environment to put my repertoire of

abilities to use. My resume and cover letter give a limited sense of my interest in your
company and the skills I bring to the team. I would be grateful if you would give me the
opportunity to speak to you in person.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
