IDEN Identification of the model, the piping code (ASME B31.1,) and

TITL Titles and other options, in particular version of the piping code
LCAS Defines a Load Case for which PIPESTRESS will calculate

displacements, rotations, forces, moments and stresses


CSTR Instructs PIPESTRESS to calculate "additive" stresses which are

OPER Defines the operating conditions for a load case for the members

which follow this card until another OPER card for the same load case is

CROS Defines the size, weight and other section dependent properties of

the pipe for members which follow this card until another CROS card is

MATL Defines the material for members which follow this card until

another MATL card is encountered


TANG Defines a straight pipe element which is specified by a vector

BRAD Defines a curved pipe element (bend or elbow) which is specified

by its radius
ANCH Points of a piping system where all six displacement components

are known (anchors)


RSTN Defines a single direction in which the piping system is restrained

against displacement at the given point. A separate card must be used for
each restraint direction
ENDP Indicates the end of the problem description. Cards which follow

RF: if not blank, dependent load case: P and Tare those of RF


TY: type of analysis, only to determine how restraints such as
snubbers, variable support spring hangers and constant support hangers
behave (see Table 3.4 in PS manual). E.g.:
 0 = Thermal Expansion
 1 = Dynamic Continued Operation
 2 = Dynamic Safe Shut-down
 3 = Operating Weight
 6 = Seismic Displacement
 9 = Design Weight

forces and displacements. Weight included only if TY=3, 4, 8 or 9

AMVT, RMVT: imposed displacements at anchors and restraints
FORC, MOMT: imposed forces and moments

CCAS: which combination method to use ?

ME=0: all cases are signed true vectorial summation


ME=1: conservative combination of 2 unsigned cases
ME=2: SRSS combination of 2 unsigned cases (e.g. primary + secondary
seismic response)
ME=3: unsigned + signed cases. Used when building two load sets with
extreme moments (Class 1), see PS manual
ME=8: range = algebraic max ( 0) algebraic min ( 0) (zero moment
case automatically included). Used in particular for defining MC in CSTR
card (=range of several thermal expansion cases)

CSTR and CCAS shall be placed after all LCAS cards
Class 2&3, B31: Sh = S at design T(DESN card), whatever the

temperature of the load case


Specify P = PDesign in one base load case (LCAS 100 in the example) to
