Welcome to ELECRAMA, 2016

From Bangalore International Exhibition Centre

Where we are Today- World Population 7 billion (approx.). Use power from conventional source 2.7
billion, approx. 40%, major concern as source is limited. Most disheartening is that 1.3 billion cannot access
Power, approx. 20% !

National Grid Formation & Thinking about International - Since Power Grid Corporation of
India views our country as five different segments, located at different parts but now they all are connected
(synchronized). Even India can boast of having worlds highest power transmission line of 1200KV AC. As it is
connected, excess generated power can be supplied to demanded zone even now we are planning to
synchronize our system with Bangladesh and Srilanka and discussion is on to have a common grid for all
SAARC countries

Aggregated Technical & Commercial(ATC) Loss: India is presently having 260GW of

Power generation capacity and planning to add more from Renewable Energy source (175 GW
by 2022, though a mammoth task!) , 24x7 power for all by 2019. Power Evacuation and
distribution is major challenge not only from space constrain point of view but also Power
theft. Globally we loss per annum $89.3 USD for power hooking and in India it is $16.2 Billion,
Only in Maharashtra it is $2.8Billion.
Though for Rural Electrification Projects across India, we are using insulated ABC cable but still
it is possible to tap tampering insulation. Now It is planned to implement Anti -Theft Cable,
where neutral shall be concentric means by tampering insulation hooker can only approach
Neutral only and after several layers (including armoring), one can reach Phase conductor,
very much difficult!

M/S KEC International, a major EPC in Power Evacuation segment is coming up with this
solution and more are coming.

Solar + Water mix: There is a lot of talk in the air about Solar but one new concept
is just coming and getting implemented slowly i.e. Floating Solar PV Cell. Where
solar panels shall be installed near or on water reservoir with necessary platform.
Due to presence of solar panel, water evaporation shall decrease along with
presence of water natural cooling is possible for panels, improving efficiency.
Presently one 25MW Power plant is commissioned in MP.

Solar +Wind Mix- Let us unite and generateThis is an effort to have solar panels and wind turbine in common arrangement
(Solar Mill) thus saving space. This technology in nascent stage, can be used both
On-grid and Off-grid format. Coverage 1KW/40sqft. Per KW cost presently
approx. 1.3 Lacs.

Now Let us enter into Distribution segment-

DC Power System inside home- It is a venture to have power consumption savings

in long run and quick-reach to breakeven. Total DC 48 V supply system in place of
230V conventional AC system, which we are having at our home.

Typical 1BHK flat Electrification cost (including converter) is approx. Rs.35,000 with
facilities like- 1 BLDC Fan, 2Tube Lights(LED), 2LED Bulbs, DC Charger and 1 socket.
Mainly getting implemented in rural Electrification work.

Energy Screen-

Few new products for Building Electrification:

a. PM2000 Series Energy meter CO2 emission (Conventional Power Source)
can be tracked and recorded by M/S Schneider Electric, launched here.
b. RCBO with less module less space of Distribution Board
2 Pole RCBO (Over Current & Leakage Protection) for single phase system in
just 2Module only (Earlier it was 4 Module), thus reducing requirement of
one RCCB and less way DB.
Earlier this product was only with M/S ABB Limited with limited availability in
India now M/S Larsen & Toubro (Electrical & Automation), M/S Siemens are
having such product with easy availability.
Easy detection (indication) of reason of fault either for Short Circuit or
leakage
c. Very Soon we are going to get Indian Standard of Halogen free Fire Retardant
flexible Cu wire for House wiring.
d. Silicon Rubber Polymer Insulator in place of Ceramic Insulator- very light
weight used in Electricity Distribution system.

Hope you have enjoyed!
