Prieta, se inicia este
recorrido que permite
culminar el pico de
esta Sierra. Junto a la
fuente una antigua
calera abandonada
nos delata uno de los
usos de las rocas
calizas del entorno, el
de convertirlas en cal
para el blanqueo de
las casas.

Description of the route.

TECHNICAL DATA

El primer tramo discurre junto a la caada, para

progresivamente ir separndose de sta, ladera
arriba, de manera zigzagueante, buscando la
formacin rocosa de Las Ventanillas. Una fuerte
subida por entre matorrales y algunos bosquetes
de pinos nos conducir hasta el llamado Castillito
de las Ventanillas.
Una vez atravesadas Las ventanillas, el sendero
prosigue la ascensin prcticamente por la
cordada, a veces en fuerte subida, empezndose
a mostrar una curiosa vegetacin de montaa
hasta llegar al pico, situado en una pequea
altiplanicie. En la cumbre de Sierra Prieta, justo
encima de unas rocas, se alza un vrtice
geodsico. Es, despus de la propia Sierra de las
Nieves, la ms alta de la comarca.

This route, which will lead us to the top of the mountains,

begins where the Caada de Fuente Tech and the Sierra Prieta
forest track meet. Next to the fountain, an ancient and
abandoned limekiln tells us of the use given to the limestone
outcrops of the surrounding area: transformation into lime to
whitewash houses.
The first section leads parallel to the ravine and gradually
separates as we zigzag uphill, searching for the rocky
formation known as Las Ventanillas. A steep climb among
bushes and some patches of pine forest will take us to the socalled Castillito de las Ventanillas.

Once we have crossed Las ventanillas, the track continues uphill, sometimes very steeply, and begins to
display a particular type of mountain vegetation until we reach the peak, located on a small plateau. At the
top of the Prieta Mountains, just above some rocks, we shall find a geodesic marker. This is, after the one
at the Sierra de las Nieves Mountains, the highest in the district.
On our way back, we may choose to take a different route at Las Ventanillas that will also lead us to the
forest track.

Existe la opcin de, en el regreso, tomar en Las

Ventanillas una variante diferente que tambin
conduce a la pista forestal.
