Spanish Lesson Example: the city

The lessons will cover vocabulary, grammar, listening, writing and speaking
skills because pupils will participate actively in the workshop with the
teacher. Every lesson vocabulary about a particular topic will be taught (in
this example the topic is the city). the objective is not that the students
learn all the words by heart because they are easily forbidden. The real
objective is that they get familiar with words and extract the overall
meaning by the context. Some tasks to achieve this will be proposed. These
tasks will be resolved not individually but in groups.
Part 1: Vocabulary and lesson with Flash-Cards
Vocabulary will be presented. First, the teacher will teach the vocabulary,
and will use flashcards with images. Students will have to match correctly
the different flashcards or playing with them.
Part 2: Reading
Reading part. Three texts are presented including the vocabulary given. In
the first lessons the words will be marked according to his grammar
category: sustantives (bold), verbs (underlined), and other words (simple
style). This pursues that the students can get familiar with the grammar
structure of Spanish, and that they are able to predict which kind of word it
is, even if they dont know the meaning of that word. Later, some questions
regarding the texts are presented. Each text will have its translation in
English to help the students to understand it.
Part 3: Vocabulary learning with a map
A map will be provided showing different locations (vocabulary) on it. The
teacher will teach about location expression and verbs, and later the
students will be asked to explain how to arrive to specific locations in
Spanish, and some games will be done using the map (treasure hunt,
competition between groups...).
Part 4: Grammar
Some explanations and grammar tasks will be taught, including verb
conjugation, prepositions, etc.

Mi nombre es Carlos, y soy un estudiante. Vivo en Madrid, una

ciudad muy grande. Madrid es la capital de Espaa. Cojo el metro
para ir a la universidad porque es difcil conducir por la calle. Yo
tengo una moto para llegar ms rpido a los sitios, aunque ayer
llegu tarde a una pelcula en el cine. Despus fui a cenar al
restaurante con mis amigos. Madrid es divertida, pero ojal
tuviera playa! No podemos baarnos ni en el ro
My name is Carlos, and I am a student. I live in Madrid, a very big city. Madrid is the
capital of Spain. I take the subway for going to the university because its difficult driving
through the streets. I have a motorbike for arriving faster to the sites, although yesterday
I arrived late for a movie in cinema. Then I went to Then I went to dinner at the restaurant
with my friends. Madrid is fun, but I wish I had beach! We cannot swim even in the river.

Yo soy Marta, y soy mdico. Vivo en Cdiz, una ciudad pequea.

Est al sur de Espaa. Me gusta ir desde el parque hasta la playa
en bicicleta. All veo los barcos que estn en el mar, mientras leo
un libro de la biblioteca. Trabajo en un hospital. Al lado del
hospital hay una farmacia para comprar medicamentos.
I'm Marta , and I am a doctor. I live in Cadiz, a small town. It is south of Spain. I like to go
from the park to the beach by bike. I look there are ships at sea, while reading a book
from the library. I work at a hospital. Next to the hospital there is a pharmacy for people
to buy drugs.

Mi nombre es Laura, y soy una profesora de Salamanca. Mi casa

est entre el ayuntamiento y la iglesia. Soy un profesor que
trabaja en un colegio. No tengo coche, as que cojo el autobs. Al
lado de mi casa hay un banco, y all cojo dinero para ir al
supermercado. En frente hay una librera y una papelera. A veces
veo all a mis alumnos comprando libros y cuadernos para clase.
