You should say:

what the advice was
and explain how this advice was useful to you.
Im gonna tell you about some useful advice that I have received. So this situation
happened about 6 years ago. It was around September, 2009, I guess. At that time I was
in my last year at high school. I was thinking about what I should do after graduating.
There were two options for me which was whether to continue my study or to get a job
right away. It was a really difficult choice that I had to make. One of my friends was the
one who gave me the advice that effected strongly my decision. He had been studying in
UK, in Manchester to be specific, for 4 years. He is older than me and he had a lot of real
experience. So I knew I needed to ask for his opinion. He told me that I should study
higher education. It would only take me 2 year to receive a bachelor degree. so it would
not cost much time and money as well. he also said that nowadays, having academic
qualifications help me enhance the resume that gives me opportunities to seek a job
easilly. and I immediately got so excited after hearing those things. And I finally decided
to go study in university instead of working straight after school. At the moment, I really
knew that it was a right decision and I benefited a lot from it.

what he or she did to make you laugh
and explain why you laughed.
Im a big fan of children. I usually find their innocence and cuteness overwhelming. I can
spend hours, literally, digging cute baby videos on internet and sharing them with my
friends on Facebook. I still remember coming across this hilarious baby video called I
want to marry him the other day
In the video, a five year old girl and a seven year old boy are getting into a heated
exchange over their wedding plan. The girl is insisting passionately on marrying the boy,
but unfortunately, the boy doesnt feel the same way about her, crying and screaming
desperately for help from the mother, who was recording the whole thing. I was not the
only person who found the wedding argument of the young couple super adorable and
funny as the video quickly went viral and became an internet sensation, attracting
millions of viewers on internet
It got even better when I found out later that the two kids in the video are actually brother
and sister. If they werent I bet the boy would terribly regret the day he turned such a
great girl down when he grows up

When i was in grade 5, i had a chance to go to the beautiful garden in Bavi with my
classmates. After a journey of about 2 hour by car, we arrived at Bavi. it was a riot of
colour, from the peaceful white of the water lilies to the striking reds and oranges which
filled some of the flowerbeds.
we enjoyed a leisurely stroll, taking in all the colours, perfumes and bird songs. i was
totally amazed at what i saw and learned .i learned a lot of lessons about the science of
plants, animals, weather and environment. I also learned the necessity and responsibility
to make the world a better place for all the species. It was more interesting, lively and
practical. The whole trip was educational and enjoyable as well .until now, i still have a
good memory of those days and the meaning of the trip.

. Well, watching TV is not my cup of tea. However, im keen on watching international

news as well as current affairs. So, at times, i turn on TV to watch CNN. It is a
program which specializes in breaking news reported by many jounalists all over
the world. Its a good idea to combine watching news and learning English at the
same time. I not only update a lot of information happening on Earth during 24
hours but also gain vocabularies and practice listening English and so on.
Watching CNN is my daily routine. I watch this program every morning for
about 15 to 20 minutes before I go to work. I find CNN educational and

Let me talk about an occasion I got up extremely early, this stitution happened in April
this year. I was planning to take a business trip with a colleague. In that morning, I woke
up early, at about 3 oclock to get to the airport where we agreed to meet. I took a seat in
the cafe bar in the airport and waited for him. One hour soon passed, but he didnt show
up. I was beginning to worry a bit then, hoping he would not forget the business trip or
wake up late. I made a telephone call to him, but could not put through, which made me
more depressed. I had no ideas but made another telephone call to my superior and told
him about my current situation, he told me to fly alone if my colleague didnt get to the
airport in time in the end.
To my surprise, after I hung up the telephone, I saw him entering the gate of the airport
slowly. I asked him why he came to airport so late. He just said he never hurried to catch
the airplane, and told me that I should take easy. Oh, I doubted whether he lived near
here. Getting up early is really hard for me, but waiting for someone who doesnt keep
time is even harder. I really didnt want to go on a trip with him next time.

I used to play it when I was a child, mostly when we went to my grandpa house, as we all
gathered there at weekend as kind of hanging out, and all my cousins who were at my
age, liked to do play this game, as that house was big enough to place us all, and we had
enough room to hide.
I remember that I won many times, as I was small , tiny and could easily go into
wardrobe so that no one could see me. There was a wardrobe, in fact, that had a shelf in
high position where I used to hide there, then run back quickly to home base and that

interview. After two weeks, they gave me a call and said that I can go to work tomorrow.
The name of the restaurant is Manzi and its located at the center of the city I live in. Its

allows me to meet basic human needs with high salary. Therefore I could buy what I
want or travel anywhere I like instead of having to ask my parents for the expense.

meet on the occasion of the trip to Singapore 6 months ago. She made a great
impression on me by her English. She was born in September, but i had to think of
what the gift was from July. Fortunately, I had a summer holiday in Sapa. I
immediately went shopping to look for some special things when I reached there.
Unfortunately, there are a variety of products and I also do not know about my
friends hobby. Therefore, finding a suitable gift for her is extremely a challenge
for me. After 2 days with careful considerations, i decided to buy a bracelet made
from brocade fabric. It was sophisticated and unique. I crushed on that bracelet at

You should say:

friends. My Mom is famous for her sense of style. She loves the classic style, which
means, her fashion is simple, but it turns out to be stylish all the time. Her motto is
Simple is the best but the way she mixes colors makes people admire. She usually
keeps up with the latest fashion and each season, she seems to have a new appearance .
Everyone believes that my mother has an eye for fashion; therefore, they often ask her for
some advice. She said to me that: Dressing well is a good form of art, so, lets do well,
live well and dress really well.

sweet seventeen with the trip to the land of opportunity,Lyson. Besides, i felt like i
fulfilled my dream cause after the trip, i had a lot of new friends and the knowledge
about my country. Now, i come to realize that nothing in the natural world remains the

train from hanoi, we arrived at Dalat it was a riot of colour, from the peaceful white of
the water lilies to the striking reds and oranges which filled some of the flowerbeds.
The two parts of the garden complemented each other perfectly. We first admired the

significant one to me. I looked at the picture sometimes and can't believe I was so
small and different looking at that time The picture gives me a sad feelings as my
grandfather and my grandmother no longer with us. In the picture they seems so
lively but I can't be with them anymore! This photograph is probably is my most
favorite one as it conveys my grandparents' memory and depicts a happy family.

English. She spoke english so fluently that at first, i thought she was a native
speaker. What i liked about her English was her melodious voice, whenever she
spoke, i thought that she was singing but not talking.
.

Every day in that trip, I had chance to listen to her sweet voice. She helped me
improve my ability to give a successful presentation, how to go up and down when
speaking English and how to call attention from others. Thats very useful.
And after the trip, we still often keep in touch to learn and share effective methods

The coffee house is located on a quite street with a lot of trees planted on both sides. In
addition, it has a patio with hanging gardens which I like very much, it makes me feel
like im sitting in a garden of my own
Separated from the hustle and bustle of the city life in Hanoi, this place allows me to sit

project such as reading or writing in my journal without being interrupted by other people
It serves great coffee, tea and cakes, thus, the place always smell very nice. Furthermore,

d like to talk about a team project that I was involved in during my final term at business
school. There were four of us on the team, and our task was to work with a local
company to research a new market, in a European country, for one of their products or
services. Our objective was to produce a report and give a presentation. The first thing
we did was split into two groups of two. We had been assigned a company that produced
a range of bicycle accessories, so two of us spent some time getting to know the company
while the other two researched the market and the competitors in the target country,
which was Germany. In the end, I think it was a successful project because we managed
to identify a possible gap in the market in Germany for one of the companys products.
Our group presentation also went really well.

Page 12

Until that point, the course had been all about business theory, so it was quite a learning

handed in our report and delivered our presentation, and I think all of us were proud of
what we had done.
.

19. Describe an historic building that you have visited.

You should say:
what it was
where it was
and explain what features of the building you found interesting.
I definitely think Thp Ra, meaning "Turtle Tower", is one of the most important
historic buildings in Vietnam. It is on Jade island of H Gu om lake, "Lake of the
Returned Sword," which is located in Old Quarter, the very central part of Ha Noi.
"Turtle Tower" was built in the late 1800's where Ta Vong" an earlier temple, had stood.
The temple was built to honour a famous warrior Le Loi, who fought foreign invaders.
Legend has it that this lake is where the Dragon King reclaimed the sword he had given
Le Loi, to free the Vietnamese people from enemies from the North.
Today, there are large soft shell turtles in the lake, where the golden turtle which was
"Kim Qui" came to the surface and asked L i, for his golden sword back, to give to the
Dragon King. Every once in a while, people visiting the lake can take pictures of
hundred-year-old turtles surfacing, which has long been considered as a sign of good
fortune by locals.
The words inscribed on the sword are said to say "The Will of Heaven", meaning its
heavens will that this country and its people should be free and independent. This tower
I believe, a tourist attraction now, has a huge significance in Vietnamese history as well
as culture.

what the business is

where it is
who runs the business / how you know about this business
and explain why you think it is successful.
There is a family living in front of my apartment. They have their own fast food
cafe. They have started that business before five years. Initially, they sold milk only.
However, they have nice space in front of the house so got point in mind to open up a
cafe. The owner himself has been a good cook and he had been accompanied by his wife
in preparation. They have two sons who also helped them in serving and in making. Then
gradually they have started taking orders on phone through whats app, sms and calls and
started providing free home delivery services. Many old people live in this area so always
they find problem with making arrangement of food. So this concept came in mind of
owner. These days, many corporate people come here for lunch and snacks too. These
shop people always maintain hygienic standards well and make the things in front of us.
So the quality of stuffs and ingredients they use that we can see. And they use health
friendly stuffs. Sometimes, we may feel that we take better fresh things here than at
home. Moreover, they also charge nominally. So its been a small business of that family
but they have been very well satisfied and enjoy that business though there has been
significant manual labour in that business. All people appreciate their services and quality
and hence I believe that business is successful.

21. Describe a disagreement that you had with a friend.

and explain how this disagreement was resolved.

. Well, two months ago,I thought that summer was coming,so I needed to do something
to lose weight. I saw an advertisement and intended to take some diet pills. The
advertisement boosted how magical the drugs are. As I was urged to lose
weight, without thinking,I decided to buy some .However, my roommate didnt
recommend me to do that. She said the slimming pills not only cost a lot but also
are negative effect to health . She asked me to keep diet and jogging with her
every night. I thought it was fine to just have a try. If this plan back fired, I
would try another way to lose weight such as running or eating fruits instead of
meals. After taking slimming pills for a week, I didnt have weight lose, but
became insomniac, maybe thats a side effect of the drugs. Finally I gave up and
running with my roommate everyday. Now when I m thinking about this
argument ,I really thank to my friend, otherwise I would try this stupid idea for
two weeks or even longer.

22. Describe a change that you think would improve your local area.
You should say:
what local area
what change
how the change could be made
and explain how this change would be an improvement to your local area.
. If there is a chance to change something which makes our local area better, i think its
the small library. The standard knowledge about social issues of local people is
quite low. I will give you a prominent instance about my cousin. She was the same
age as me and she just married last week cause she had 5 month pregnancy. But
the thing was she didnt know she was pregnant until 2 weeks ago. Apparently,
she was lack of sexual knowledge and I think that if only my hometown had a
library in which there was a wide range of books , she wouldnt have come into
troubles. Also with a small library, people at all ages can enlarge their knowledge
about all aspects of life. Im sure that this change is a significant turning-point in
the education of my local area. For example, the literacy rate can be higher, so my
province can provide a better well-educated workforce for economy, and
unemployment level or other social evils can be mitigated. All in all, the
appearance of a library is the key to open a new door for my province.

Of all the sports that I more or less know how to play, swimming is the one that I find
most fascinating and I think it keep me fit.. I learnt to swim when I was a small child
because my parents believed that it would be useful for me. Unlike other sports, there
are no rules to follow when you swim. Basically, swimming is just the combination of arm
and leg motions and the natural floatation of the body.
Swimming is a good way to lose weight and get fit. Cardio workouts like swimming burns
calories, helping me go get rid of excess body fat and weight. Furthermore, swimming
improves the health and helps me to avoid illness. It will raises heart rate and works the
large muscle groups in the body.
The main thing that fascinates me about this sport is the weightless freedom and
liberation I feel when I swim. It feels just like flying. I cannot fly, but swimming is the
next best thing. The water is my sky.

assured and extrovert characteristics, relaxed people with jokes and her good sense of
humor. she was also talkative at times, but i didnt make us annoyed, it turned out to be
beneficial cause we felt comforting after listening to her funny stories.
It was definitely a big surprise cause i found that she had a talent for calling attention
from others and the ability to make friends easily. Later, we both passed the interview

well- rounded knowledge.

spent 3 hours to learn new words and grammars. In addition, I repeated after the speaker

Actually German is difficult language but I always stopped telling myself how
hard German was and started focusing on the positive. Creating a positive filter made the
language easy for me
I want to learn German because I think that nowadays, knowing more foreign
language is an advantage not only in my daily lives but also in my work environment.

I live in (..say the name of your city..) and this city has got some several issues related to
environmental pollution. The major environmental pollutions that this city has are air
pollution. Air pollution is the direct reason people suffer from various dangerous diseases
including lung cancer, asthma, heart disease etc. In fact the number of people currently
suffering from these diseases in alarming and if steps are not taken to prevent air
pollution immediately, this number would rapidly increase. Therefore, the strict law
would to create public awareness . We are mostly creating that pollution and endangering
ourselves, the nature and other species. Without our awareness and strict determination to
prevent our city from pollution, we cant reduce or prevent it. Strict laws should be
introduced and applied against environmental pollution and all the illegitimate industries
and companies should be banned. Job opportunities and other facilities should be
improved in the rural areas so that people can manage works in their own cities and
villages other than coming to this city. This law is needed as it reduce the risk of harm to
the environment and human health, also improve peoples quality of life.

want to continue my study to broaden the knowledge and gain life experiences. Its would

Furthermore, while visiting an English speaking country I would have a great

books, watching movies in English and attending E course. However, I know that the best

years ago, I travelled to Germany with my parents on holiday and at that moment I
decided to learn German immediately when I came back to Vietnam
Actually German is difficult language but I always stopped telling myself how
hard German was and started focusing on the positive. Creating a positive filter made the
language easy for me. Everyday. I spent 3 hours learning new words and grammar. This
is 2 main factors to learn a foreign language. Furthermore, I read so much especially
novels in German. This is a useful way to uncover new words so that I can refer back to
the list and slowly build them into my everyday vocabulary.
I think that nowadays, knowing more foreign language is an advantage not only
in my daily lives but also in my work environment. Furthermore, German is one of the

have business travel every month, and most of the time by plane. Her company has
offices in Ireland, Vietnam and Indonesia, therefore she has to travel to different cities all
the time. Travelling by plane saves a lot of time, especially when she got a tight schedule
in one day and need to travel to other places. Also, it is more convenient and comfortable
for passenger. For instant, on the airplane there are many airline hostesses to serve, take
care and help passengers. Moreover, airplanes have good security system. Airports have

I would like to describe a street from my hometown that I like to visit when I was a little
girl. I spent a lot of time in my childhood and adolescence time. This street is called
Giang Vo and it is at the back side of the high school we used to study at. This is not a
very wide street and since it is in the back side, people often avoid this road and take the
main street. There are some 2-3 storied buildings there and one 7th storied building is
situated beside this street. Since I now live in a different city I rarely visit this street.
However I go to this street sometime with my friends whenever I visit my hometown.

hometown. I go to my hometown 3-4 times in a year and visit this street each time I visit
my hometown. I like this street because I have so many memories related to this street. I
still go there whenever I visit my town. And this very street where I used to spend some

37. Describe an article you read in a magazine or on the internet about healthy

and explain what you learned/thought from the article.
I would like to share you an article I read on the internet yesterday .It talks about the
benefits of living a healthy lifestyle on livestrong.com. A popular website about healthy
living. There are 2 things I learned from it. Firstly, I find that it is challenge to maintain a
healthy lifestyle. Perhaps it is your busy schedule and limited time to prepare healthy
meals you are more likely to skip meals and choose convenient or fast food to eat. You
must be patient with yourself and to select only one to two goals at a time to work on.
Small changes over a long period of time will equal big results. Secondly, if you
determined to have a healthier and longer life , you will prevent diseases such as heart
disease or diabetes. Eating well and exercising can help defend against depression and
will sharpen your memory and stabilize your mood

and explain why you think their job is important or why you think their work
contributes to society.
Ok, well it was actually quite difficult choosing whom to talk about, because, I mean, if
you think about it, everyones job is important in some way or another. But in the end
Ive decided to talk about Mrs. Huong
Mrs. Huong is a teacher who taught English when I was in primary school. She was a
kindhearted woman with short gray hair because she was about sixty. She usually wore
dark-colored clothes and glasses. She always spoke slowly but she was very popular in
our class. I found being a teacher an important job because teachers not only teach us
knowledge, but also good manners. In addition, I think education is the foundation of
society, and teachers are the foundation of education. Mrs. Li always told us to be useful
in society. Her Chinese lessons were always very good; because of them, I am also very
good at it now.
So I think not only are teachers an essential part of society, but also it is an important job.

metropolitan building. The house would be built with woods, leaves, some modern
materials and tin. There would be a big veranda in front of the house. Trees would be all
around the house. I have plan to live there when I built my own successful careers and
start a family. Living in a farm house in my hometown that would allows me l enjoy fresh
air, clean environment, healthy and fresh foods. This is the main reason I want to live
there. Furthermore, I would like to invite my friends over for the weekend and then throw
a party outdoor with campfire and have a barbeque

Well, I borrowed many things in the past few years. But I think the most special
one that gave me a good impression is a cell phone which I borrowed from a strange
passenger on a train. Last year I took train back to my hometown from Saigon. It was a
long distance trip from Saigon to my hometown. I needed to sleep on the train one night.
Unfortunately, when I got up in the morning, I could not find my cell phone. I guessed
that must be stolen by someone. I was so nervous, because I afraid my parents could not
find me when I arrived the train station. So I borrowed a cell phone and called to my
mom told her I will wait them before the big statue on the train station square. Thanks for
the borrowed cell phone I could arrive to my home safely

. Im going to talk about Hoa, a beautiful girl who i was lucky to meet on the occasion of
the trip to Singapore last month. She made a great impression on me by her
English. She spoke english so fluently that at first, i thought she was a native
speaker. What i liked about her English was her melodious voice, whenever she
spoke, i thought that she was singing but not talking.
.

Every day in that trip, I had chance to listen to her sweet voice, and because of
language barriers, she always used English all the time. She helped me improve
my ability to give a successful presentation, how to go up and down when
speaking English and how to call attention from others. Thats very useful.
And after the trip, we still often keep in touch to learn and share effective methods
to improve our English speaking ability.

Let me talk about an occasion I waited for my colleague in the airport, which happened in
April. I was planning to take a business trip with a colleague. In that morning, I woke up
early
to get to the airport where we agreed to meet. I took a seat in the cafe bar in the airport
and waited for him. One hour soon passed, but he didnt show up. I was beginning to
worry a bit then, hoping he would not forget the business trip or wake up late. I made a
telephone call to him, but could not put through, which made me more depressed. I had
no ideas but made another telephone call to my superior and told him about my current
situation, he told me to fly alone if my colleague didnt get to the airport in time in the
end.
To my surprise, after I hung up the telephone, I saw him entering the gate of the
airport slowly. I asked him why he came to airport so late. He just said he never hurried
to catch the airplane, and told me that I should take easy. Oh, I doubted whether he lived

at weekends. Every time, a lot of people came by, they got drunk and turned on the music
really loud . I couldnt concentrate on my exam studies. Few neighbors also complained

My mother often sang me a lullaby titled Oh my sweet angel look the Moon has come to
play with you... in my bed time and I have heard it so many times in my childhood that I
can still remember it very vividly. This was a song usually famous in the rural area of our
country that mothers often use to soothe the baby and to send them in sleep. It was an 810 lines song with great harmony and the way my mother sand it was extraordinary. It
still echoes in my head and I miss those days.
I can remember my mother often sand this song till I got admitted in the school and I
heard it from my father as well in my bed time. I was pretty touched with the lyrics and in
my childhood I often imagined that the verses used in this song were true and would
happen to me as well.
We often remember things from childhood specially the stories or songs we hear with
great enthusiasm. This song was no exceptions. I heard it hundreds of times and as a child
I fanaticized those things to be true. Thais is the main reason I still remember it. May be
someday when I will become a father/ mother, I will sing thins song to my children as
well. This has in fact become a permanent memory and I still love the great and calming
piece of music.

46. Describe an important holiday (or festival) that is celebrated in your country.
You should say:
when this celebration takes place
what people do during this celebration
what you especially like and dislike about this celebration
and explain why it is important.
I think the main festival in my country is Tet that means Lunar New Year. It is
the most important celebration of Vietnamese culture. The celebration often falls between
late January and early February. It is time for everybody to come back to their hometown,
gathering with family, visiting relatives and having a good relaxing time after a hardworking year. The first day of tet is probably the most exciting time of the holiday for
me. It signifies a new beginning , cleaning of past misfortunes and hopes for a brighter
future. Furthermore, I especially like this holiday because I will be gifted lucky money in
traditional red pocket by parents, grandparents or relatives. Unfortunately, I have no

reasons to dislike Tet because it have a lot of great foods and you can see happy faces and

the one that I find most fascinating and I think it can strengthen my physical
health.. I learnt to swim when I was a small child because my parents believed
that it would be useful for me. Unlike other sports, there are no rules to follow
when you swim. Basically, swimming is just the combination of arm and leg
motions and the natural floatation of the body.
.
The main thing that fascinates me about this sport is the weightless freedom and
liberation I feel when I swim. It feels just like flying. I cannot fly, but swimming is the
next best thing. The water is my sky.
After swimming, I feel happier, stronger , more comfortable and more relaxed.

Let me tell you about my mother. She plays a very important role in my life. She is a very
considerate and thoughtful person who has always done her best to help me make
decisions in the face of day-to-day difficulties.
I really consider my mother to be a role model. She has a strong personality and she
never lets others tell her what to do. I learned how to be responsible and also more
determined in my daily life.
My mother has always encouraged me to be more outstanding in work.
I remember she usually told me stories or sang lullaby when I lied on the bed at nigh in
order to help me sleep. When we are together at home, she always discusses with me
about my job and often complains that I didnt get better results. It took me a long time to
realize what she meant, but now I understand how rewarding my work should be thanks
to her recommendations. I believe she is one of the reasons why I always want to do
better in everything I attempt.

49. Describe an unforgettable advertisement that you liked

You should say:
what type of advertisement it was
where you saw or heard it
what product or service was advertised
and explain why you liked that advertisement
. I'm going to talk about an advertisement for Coca-Cola, which is one of the biggest
brands in the world. I've seen Coke advertised everywhere, on posters and TV
commercials.
. The advert shows a picture of Santa Claus smiling and holding a bottle of Coke. I think
the aim is to target children and associate (link/connect) the brand with Christmas
time.
The advert is interesting because the company is deliberately /diliborotli/ trying to
influence and attract children. The marketers are trying to capture young customers.
They are presenting the drink as something special, a gift for Christmas. However,
Coca-Cola is not necessarily a healthy drink for children; it contains a lot of sugar.
