COURSE DESCRIPTION
A study on the principles of R.C construction for small to medium scale,
medium rise buildings and structures. It covers the construction for sub
structure, superstructure, stairs and external works.
Also included is the study of production process, properties,
characteristic, application and performace of concrete, cement, ceramic
and their product.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
Students will be able to:
i.
Identify construction requirements and methods related to
reinforced concrete for small to medium scale, medium rise
buildings and structure.
ii.
Understand nature of building materials commonly used and
methology of selection.
iii. Understand constructional mathods related to external
works.
iv. Understand the relevance of technical drawings, notes and
specification of R.C construction and related elements.
v.
Apply this knowledge to the design of small to medium
scale, medium rise buildings.

TEACHING METHODS
The course will be conducted through the following methods:
i.
Lectures
ii.
Observation through site visits and academic trip to
manufacturers of building materials.
iii. Application into architectural context applying
informations obtained from lectures and site visits into
design work.
iv. Problem solving.
