CONCLUSION
The free fall experiment carried out by our physics group (4f)
arrived at a value of g which was gotten at 10m/s2. The generally
accepted value of g is 9.81m/s2 but the rest of our experiment was off by
0.19m/s2. Although not entirely accurate this can be allowed due to the fact that
the margin for error on experiments like this is generally a value of 0.50.
Finally, due to the fact that there was an error in the experiment that obstructed
us from getting the original value, below are some that may have occurred and
how to get rid of them.
Due to the environment that the experiment was carried out in there
could have been air resistance acting on the metallic ball.
Errors due to parallax could have been made by the group while
measuring the height using the meter rule.
Lastly plotting a graph by hand could lead to smaller errors.
We could get rid of such errors by using accurate measurement machines to get
rid of errors due to parallax and conducting the experiment in a place where
external forces will not act on the materials used for the experiment, and also
using a graphing software to accurately graph out the co-ordinates and scales of
the plot.
