RD-Unicon User Manual

About RD-Unicode
RD-Unicode means Report Designer Unicode Converter as it is provided separately in
the time of installing Report Designer.
Report Designer 5.0u for Unicode version, a separate version of Report Designer
supporting Unicode Data, should be used to process Unicode Data.
A report file(*.mrd) created in General Report Designer Version cannot be read in Unicode
version. Therefore, a report file created in the general version can be converted into
Unicode Report File through RD-Unicode program.

1.1. Executing RD-Unicode Program


Execute RD-Unicode.exe program in a folder in which Report Designer is installed.

1.2.1 Function Keys

Conversion

Make conversion into Unicode Report File.


Configuration

Open Environment Dialog Box to set a language for Log-File or Original Report File.
Saving Option

Open a dialog bow to be capable of setting Saving Option of a file to be converted.


Stop

Stop converting.

1.2.2 Configuration Screen


Set Directory window

In this window, a directory or file with an original file can be selected. The name of a selected
directory or file will be displayed on the above Edit Box.
When you press Conversion button, a conversion is made, based on Path displayed on
Edit Box.

Thus, in this window, it is possible to know information on a conversion.


A string of Edit Box in the above, shows a location of an original file.
Number of Search File : The total number of *.mrd files searched currently
Number of Conversion File : The total number of *.mrd files converted currently.

Other windows

Do you want to see files in tree : If you select Yes, you can see lower files as well as
directories on Set Directory window.
File Filter Extension : Set File Extension to be displayed on Set Directory window.
If *.mrd is selected for File Filter Extension and Yes is selected for Do you want to see
files in tree?, all of *.mrd files in a directory are displayed on Set Directory window.

1.3. Function Description


1.3.1 Configuration

Log Report

Set up Log File path. Conversion Information will be created in Log File.
Conversion Start/End Time, Original/Target File Name, Unconverted File Name and Interrupt
Conversion Information etc. are created for Conversion Information.
Language

As for Report Designer, four kinds of versions are provided according to the languages
such as Korean, Japanese, English and Chinese. Basically, language information will be
saved in *.mrd file in the same version as Editor Version that in which a report is created.
Language of Saved Editor : A conversion is made, based on Language Information
saved in *.mrd file.
User Defined Language : A user can choose Language Information. You should select
User Defined Language in the following cases.
In case of creating a report with a Japanese text in English editor, Language Information
included in *.mrd file is English. But, as actual properties of a report are created by a
Japanese language, it is desirable to set Japanese for a language.

1.3.2 Saving Option

Destination

Set the name of a target file.


Use Original Folder : A converted file is saved in Original File Folder.
Folder : Assign a new folder to save a converted file.

Overwrite
This is a Saving option for the case in which the same file name exists on a location in which
a converted target file will be saved.
Ask : Pop up the following message box.

Skip : Do not save.


Replace : Overwrite an original file.
Rename : Saving as a new name, being based on Rename Template.

Rename Template
This option is available in case Rename is set for Overwrite option. Put a specific string
before or after a file name to create a new file name.
Set As Prefix : Put a string entered in Mask before a conversion target file name to create a
new file name.
Set As Suffix : Put a string entered in Mask after a conversion target file name to create a
new file name.
For example, in case a target file name is C:\Test\Mrd\aaa.mrd and Mask has a string such
as uni.
Set As Prefix Save as C:\ Test\Mrd\uniaaa.mrd.
Set As Suffix Save as C:\ Test\Mrd\aaauni.mrd.

1.4. Conversion Order


1. Set ahead the options related to Set Log File and Set Target File Name etc..
It is possible to set by Configuration dialog box and Saving Option dialog box.
2. Select Directory or File on Set Directory window.

Select Directory : Select the entire directory in which a report created in a general
version exists.
Every lower *.mrd files of a selected directory is a target for a conversion.
Select File : It is possible to convert a specific file which is selected.
3. Click Conversion button to start a conversion.
4. If you click Stop button, it is possible to stop a conversion.
