Bengali Verbs
Learning the Bengali Verbs is very important because its
structure is used in every day conversation. The more you
master it the more you get closer to mastering the Bengali
language. But first we need to know what the role of Verbs
is in the structure of the grammar in Bengali.
Bengali verbs are words that convey action (bring, read,
walk, run), or a state of being (exist, stand). In most
languages a verb may agree with the person, gender,
and/or number of some of its arguments, such as its subject,
or object.
Grammar Tips:

- Present Tense
In Bengali, verbs take the following endings to form the
present tense:
chhi, chhe, chho, chhen,
Example:

Bengali Verbs

Ami korchhi, se korchhe, tumi korchho, tini/apni

korchhen

These endings can help you a lot, because with them

you can conjugate most of verbs into the present tense,
you only need the stem of the verb, for example the stem
of (khela: to play) is (khelchhe).

- Past Tense
In Bengali as well as in English the simple past tense
(imperfect) is used to describe past events. The endings
for the past tense verbs are:
Echhi, echhe, echho, echhen Example :
Ami Korechhi, se korechhe, tumi korechho, tini/
apni korechhen.

So just take any regular verb stem and add it to the

endings above, for example our previous verb khela (to
play), its stem is echhi, plus the endings above
becomes ami khelechhi (I played).

- Future Tense
To form the future in Bengali its very easy, just use the
whole or part of infinitive verb plus these following
ending: tumi -be, tui -bi, se -be, tomra -be, apni -ben,
apnara ben. Example:
tumi korbe, tui korbi, se korbe, tomra korbe, apni
korben, apnara korben, (the verb is koraa [to do])

This means that you dont have to worry about the stem
of a verb, just take it as an infinitive and add the above
future endings to it.
