karma for marriage? When the parents of a girl or boy approach an astrologer, the latter should assess the longevity of the boy and
the girl and only then proceed with other factors, relating to marriage (Do the candidates have good, bad or mixed karma (destiny) for
wealth, health, children and marital happiness), If one of the two candidates appears destined to have a short life-span, the astrologer will, of
course, not recommend the match.. Parashara Hora Shastra tells us about early widowhood or separation; "A woman loses her husband or a man

loses his wife, if Mars is in the houses 12,4,7 or 8 from the Ascendant unaspected by or unassociated with any benefic planet. If both possessing this
planetary combination join in wedlock, it ceases to have any bad effect.
Upapada Matching; Upapada is the arudha of the 12th house in any horoscope. This is computed by counting as many houses from the 12th lord
as the lord gained from the 12th house. If the upapada falls in the 12th or the 6th house, then count 1oth from the sign again to arrive at the final
upapada.
Upapada tells a lot about the spouse, one who is committed to follow you for the whole lifetime or at least for the duration of the marriage. The various
results related to upapada can be studied from jyotish classics such as Brhat Parashara Hora Shastra or Upadesha Sutras of maharishi Jaimini. The
matching of Upapada is very crucial as this shows, how the images of the partners are related to each other and hence has a strong say on the marital
affairs and harmony. The matching criteria for upapada is given below1. The Lagna of the bride should be in trine or 7th from the Upapada or in the paka upapada and vice versa.
2. The Upapada and AL should be placed in Kendra or Trine or 3/11 to each other. Otherwise, this shows lack of harmony in the relationship.
3. The 2nd of Upapada rules the longevity of the marriage. If the 2nd house or the lord is afflicted by malefics such as nodes, then the marriage can be
in serious troubles. This is also true if the lord is debilitated and aspected by malefics.
4. The remedy of all marriage troubles is to fast on the day ruled by the Upapada lord.

Single Sided Survey of one Horoscope only . add this to the Kuta analysis in step 3 (from New techniques of predictions # 2):
(a) Rasi and Graha Mitram : See how the lords of 1 and 7 are mutually situated and see their mutal cordiality etc. If they are in 6, 8 and 12 (mutually) they differ. In
such case the destiny drives the native to join a similar partner with any amount of careful comparison of the two horoscopes. Even if they are mutual enemies if they
are posited together or mutually aspecting each other they live together even with differences of opinion. Here one thing has to be noted. Suppose the lord of the 7th is
the enemy of the lord of lagna, it then means that the partner is the native's enemy. If the lord of Iagna is not the enemy of the lord of 7th then the native will not
reciprocate the ill-will. In such a case it is only the native that becomes the sufferer. Similarly regarding the aspect : The aspector has affinity towards the aspectee and
the reverse. So in such a case there is single sided affinity. Further, of the two the more powerful rules over the other.
(b) Yoni Kutam: Conjugal happiness to be judged by the 7th house.
(c) Stree Dirgam: Judge from Shukra and the 8th house.
(d) Ganam: Compare the gunas of the lord of 1 and 7 (natural gunas + sign & star guna).
(e) For all the rest of the Kutams contributing to happiness of the couple look to the 4th and 7th Bhavas
(f) if the lord of the 7th house is Yogi or in the star of the Yogi or with the Yogi; then there is general happiness and prosperity vice versa
(g) If the lord of the 7th Bhava aspects Lagoa or is with lord of lagna there is amicability.
(h) Finally and for definiteness judge from the effects of Dashas lords from the Navamsha Chart.
Judged this way the nature of the partner may be ascertained from one chart only. Destiny forces this native to marry only such a partner. Then where is the human
hand and discrimination to select the one of our wish?
GENERAL KARMA TENDENCIES OF THE WOMEN Certain parts of Moola, Astesha, Jyeshta and Visakha are destructive for the in-laws if the
natal moon is there ; Moola (first quarter) = bad for husband's father, Aslesha (first quarter) = bad for husband's mother, Jyeshta (first quarter) = bad for
husband's elder brother, Visakha (last quarter) = bad for husband's younger brother.
GENERAL KARMA TENDENCIES OF THE MAN REGARDING MARRIAGE AND FUTURE WIFE FROM HIS NATAL CHART
If the 7th house happens to be;
Aries: The woman would be interested in visiting temples.
Taurus: She would be fond of feeding others.
Gemini: Keeps the household, utensils etc., neat and clean.
Cancer: Interested in bathing etc.
Leo: Finds pleasure in performing rituals like homa. Virgo: She would be interested in collecting perfumes, utensils etc.,or costly articles.
Libra: She would be an eloquent speaker.
Scorpio: She would be an expert in culinary art.
Sagittarius: Interested in listening to recitations of Vedas and Puranas.
Capricorn: Would be interested in collecting good sheets etc.

The following conditions relating to the 7th house indicate the wife's death (widower):
(i) The 7th house must be weak, having malefic association and aspect. (ii) Absence of the aspect of the lord of the 7th, 1st or a benefic on the 7th house. (iii) The
lord of the 7th house and Venus, being in inimical house, or debilitation 'Amsha' or combustion, are aspected by malefics, without benefic connection.
(iv) These two planets should be posited in 6th, 8th or 12th house. If two of the above conditions are fulfilled, the wife's death would be certain.
the man would not be married. (i) If Mars be posited in the 7th house, the native would be separated from or bereaved of his wife. The same effect would follow, if
Saturn should occupy or aspect the 7th house without benefic connection.
(ii) If Capricorn be the 7th house with Jupiter in it, or if Scorpio be the 7th house with Venus in it, the wife would die. Similarly if Taurus be the 7th house with Mercury in
it, the person's first wife would die.
(iii) If Pisces be the 7th house with Saturn in it, the result would be the same.
(iv)Virgo being the 7th house with Jupiter in it, and the 4th house with malefics would do the same job.
(v) Lords of the 5th and 8th houses occupying the 7th house also do the same thing.
Likely Problems to wife or with wife; Deformity Of Wife if The Sun and Venus posited in the 5th, 7th or 9th house
(i) If Venus be surrounded by malefics without benefic connection, the native would suffer on account of his wife, or be bereaved of her.
(ii) The same result would follow, if the 4th and 8th houses from Venus be posited by malefics without benefic connection.
(iii) If the Sun and Rahu be in the 7th house, the wife would be separated from him. The man thereafter would lose everything.
(iv) Should Venus occupy a movable sign with the aspect or association of Saturn, and be surrounded by malefics, the wife would be unchaste and leave him.
(v) If Venus be posited in Mars' Rashi or Amsha and connected with Mars, the native would get a cruel wife. If this Yoga occurs in Saturn's sign or Amsha, or if Venus
be in his debilitation in Rashi or Amsha he would be married to a mean or low-class girl.
Ashthaka-Varga Method: Should the 7th house in Venus's Ashthaka-Varga chart be weak, the native's spouse would certainly predecease, provided Mandi occupies
a trine from the ascendant.
Wife's Death; Should Venus be posited in Aries, Scorpio, or Leo, and aspected by or combined with the lord there of, and at a time when the fire element rises (Aries,
Scorpio, or Leo asc.), the native's wife would die through fire. When Venus is associated with Mandi, and Rahu occupies a kendra or kona with respect to Venus, the
wife would die as a result of snakebite or poison (drugs).
The wife would meet with a disastrous end, in case there be malefics in the 8th house from Venus in association with Saturn. Death due to animal attack: If Venus in
the above condition occupies a sign signifying quadruped (ari, tau, leo2nd half of sag), her death will be due to animal attack; and if the decanate of Venus be vulture
(ari2, gem2, leo1, lib2, ), death would be due to birds; if Venus be in a watery sign (can, sco, pis), her end would be due to drowning in a tank; and if Venus, combined
with the Moon, be in a movable sign (Cancer, Pisces or latter half of Capricorn?) Under the above condition, death would be in the sea (through water).
Venus in combination with other planets and 'upagraphas' causes the following effects:
(i) With the Sun: The wife would be very prominent in the family, but possessed by a spirit (bhuta).
(ii) With the Moon: She would be superior to her husband.
(iii) With Mars: She would be unchaste and troubled by demons.
(iv) With Mercury: She would be charming, endowed with good character and learning, but troubled by vidydharas (a class of demi-gods).
(v) With Jupiter: Be paragon o virtues and blessed with sons, but troubled by gandharvas (another class of demi-god).

(vi) With Saturn: Be of bad character, friendly with the wicked, a hypocrite and foul tongued. (Note: The above effects could also be attributed to the native's wife, if
Venus occupies the houses of these planets.).
(vii) With Rahu or Ketu: She is likely to be deformed or short of a limb, and in league with despicable fellows.
(viii) With Mandi Yamakantaka or kala: The native's wife is likely to meet with an early death.
(ix) With Ardhaprahara: Her death would be gradual, or after protracted illness
Wife's Caste/Community/Social Status And Physical Features.
Should Jupiter or Venus occupy the 7th house in the male chart, his wife would be of the same class or community. On the other hand, other planets posited in the 7th
house are likely to make her one of slightly lower status. Her physical features should be ascertained from stronger of the lords of the sign and Amsha occupied by the
lord of the 7th house. The wife's character, colour, stature, caste, nature etc., are to be read from the strongest of the following three or more planets viz., Venus lord of
the 7th house and those that are posited in the 7th house.
The wife would be blessed with good sons, fortune and religious disposition, (i) if there be a benefic in the 9th house from Venus, provided its lord (of the 9th house
from Venus) is strong. (ii) If the lord of the 7th be a benefic and aspected by or conjoined with a benefic.
(iii) or if the 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th houses, counted from the one occupied by the 7th lord, are posited by benefics or any strong planet, the same result should be
declared.
The man is likely to get a wife who would be distressed, being barren or sickly. (i) if the lord of the 7th house be a malefic and associated with or aspected
by malefics; (ii) or if the 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th houses counted from the lord of the 7th house, are occupied by malefics,
Happy conjugal life is the result of the following Yogas:
(i) The lord of the 7th house, being possessed of strength, or benefics should occupy or aspect that house (i.e. 7th.)
(ii) Venus and the lord of the 7th house should be strong, occupy auspicious houses and be associated with or aspected by benefics
The Bride's family. If the lord of the 7th house be possessed of strength, the native would get a beautiful bride from a rich family. On the other hand, if that planet be
weak, the girl would be ugly and hailing from a poor family.
Should the 7th lord be combined with or aspected by benefics, or hemmed in between benefics, the man would be blessed with a good wife and children.
The same result would follow, if the lord of the 7th house be in the sign of Amsha of a benefic, or if Venus be similarly situated, and the lord of the 10th house be
possessed of strength.
On the other hand, if either the Sun or lord of the 7th house, being posited in a sign or Amsha belonging to a malefic, or aspected by or conjoined with
malefics, he would get an unchaste wife.
Should the 7th house be occupied by Rahu or Ketu and aspected by or associated with malefics, the person's wife would be characterless (sinful). If Rahu
and Ketu should attain the Amsha of the malefic, she would poison the husband and be always quarrelling with the husband and be the butt of ridicule to the people
Effects Of Planets In The Seventh House On Him. The Sun: He will have liaison with another's wife. The Moon: He loves his wife most.
Mars: He will have sex-relations with many women. Mercury: He loves his wife. Jupiter: She will be very virtuous and loved by the husband.
Venus: He is very lustful. Saturn: He will have liaison with low-class women.
Wife's social Status: If the lord of the 7th house is stronger than the lagna-lord, and posited in a benefic Amsha and aspected by a benefic, attaining
Vaisheshikamsha or its highest exaltation, his wife will be hailing from a superior family, and possessed of excellent character and features. If the conditions are
contrary, he gets a wife from a poor family or low-class
Indications Of Possible Remarriage (Two Marriages) & Three or More Marriages:
(i) The ascendant is a dual sign; the Moon and the lord of the 7th house are posited in dual signs or Amshas.
(ii) Two planets should be in the 11th house, and Mercury and Saturn occupy the 7th house.
(iii) If the Sun and Mars be in the 7th house or its Amsha, it would show that the man has more than one marriage, but lives only with one wife. If the three planets viz.,
Venus and lords of the 7th house, counted from the ascendant and the Moon, be endowed with strength and posited in good houses, there would be three marriages If
only two be strong, the chance is for two marriages; and if only one be strong, one marriage only. If either the 7th lord or Venus be in its highest exaltation and if at the
same time there be two or more planets in the 7th house, three or more marriages would result. The number of marriages may also be found out from the Navamsha
covered by the lord of the 7th house.
Another view is the following: If there are two strong planets in the 7th house, there will be two marriages.
The following are some more Yogas for remarriage:
(i) The 7th house being strong, its lord and Venus must be posited in one of the following Rashis viz., own house, own decanate, Vargottamamsha (Rashi and
Navamsha being in the same sign).
(ii) The 2nd or the 7th house must have a malefic aspect or presence and the lord be weak.
(iii) The 7th or 8th house from lagna is occupied by malefics, and the 12th house by Mars, provided the concerned house is not aspected by its own lord.
(iv)The lord of the Navamsha occupied by the lord of the 7th house be eclipsed, debilitated, posited in inimical or debilitation Amsha (decanate), or surrounded or
aspected by malefics.
(v) If the second or seventh house be occupied by many (more than two) malefics, and if its lord be aspected by malefics, three marriages are indicated.
(vi) If the ascendant, 2nd, or 7th house be occupied by malefics, and if the 7th lord be debilitated, eclipsed or posited in an inimical sign, three marriages should be
declared.
(vii) Lord of the 7th house, being posited in kendra or kona, is to be in his exaltation, friendly sign. Vargottamamsha and other Vargas that are his own, and associated
with the lord of the 10th house, he will have many wives. (viii) The same result would follow if the lords of 7th and 11th houses be strong and posited in trines

2nd step; synastry of the 2 charts ; Mutual Verification of both Charts (from New techniques of predictions # 2)
(a) See how the lords of the lagna of both are disposed. Even if they are enemies, if they join or aspect each other they will live together.
(b) If the lord of the 7th Bhava or its cuspal star-lord is the Birth Yogi of the other or is in the star of the Birth Yogi of the other = happy-match.
(c) if one's lagna is in anther's Yoga star - Yogaic.
(d) if the two laxness are mutually in good positions other than 6,8 &12.
(e) if the Birth Yogi of the other aspects the Native's lagna= Good.
Judged in this scientific way you will arrive at correct conclusion. In fact when I am consulted I will first scrutinise the horoscope in the above manner and at the last
stage of recommendation see the most important kootams only such as Ayur, Nadi and Rajju Kutam leaving the rest to others to look into if they feel so anxious.
Another vedic method limited to moon; Is the juxtaposition of the Moon in the man's chart and the Moon in the woman's chart harmonious or
inharmonious? "If the girl's moon sign be at the fag end of Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces and the boy's moon sign, the very next Rashi, the result would be utter penury."

According to the muhurtha shastra it is not the temporary dispositions based on karma that the individual is going through that is to be taken into
consideration, it is the birth constellation that is important (it set the main footpath/ character) and not the birth chart as a whole. This many people
misunderstand. For marriage we want to see natures and the phases that persons are due to go through because of the 2 moon stars. This generally will
be very difficult to analyze without the use of Vedic astrology who emphasize on this only.
Srimad Kalaprakashika shastra gives us an overview in brief on page 76: "Dhinam, Ganam, Yoni, Rasi and Rajju, are the five chief points in which
there should be agreement in the horoscopes of the bride and bridegroom. Of these, Dhinam and Rajju are first in importance. Dhinam is particularly
so to the Brahmanas; Ganam to Ksatriyas; Rasi to Vaisyas; and Yoni to Shudras. (It is interesting to note the modes of nature in relation to which caste
chooses its importance.)
To determine suitability the horoscopes of the boy and girl must be in full agreement in at least 5 kutas upon 12.

# 1 Dina porutham (dhina kuta) (3pts); means compatibility of birth stars and indicates health, luck (fortune or misfortune) and

longevity of the couple (Length of married life), it is especially of primary importance for brahmanically inclined people ;
principle; Dina Kuta means mating of charts or compatibility for 'day to day living and sharing of happiness and sorrow. The word dina simply means day and refers to
the day to day living and sharing. The point is that when two people marry then they should be supportive of each other during the days of worry and troubles. For
example on a day when the Moon is in the 3rd from janma naksatra of the boy and he is sorrowful then this moon should be strong for the bride and she should be
able to support him to tide over the difficulties. That is the reason why dina kuta is necessary, otherwise both will be overcome by sorrows at the same time/ day.
To understand the working of Dina Kuta you have to study the tarabala of both janma and lagna naksatra of the couple and determine their
compatibility. If dina kuta is not present in the janma (moon) naksatra matching then the couple will never really become very close to each other (subtle distance,
disagreements) and they will not be of any support to each other during difficult days and sharing will be low. On the other hand if dina kuta is not present from
lagna naksatra then they cannot agree (gross disagreements) on major issues and should be advised to respect the views of their partner instead of getting into
meaningless arguments. (This is also one of the reasons why marriage between couples having the same janma naksatra was not encouraged).
A groom whose moon star is the 3rd (vipat 1st pada), 5th (pratyak 4th pada) or 7th (Vadha 3rd pada) from the bride's star, is not accepted (gives
troubles and shows separation). It is exceedingly bad in the 3rd or 7th star. The 5th star is not that bad. The 6th (Saadhana) Nakshatra is also
inauspicious, however, not as bad as the 3rd/ 5th or 7th. Principle: The farther the Janma Nakshatra of the boy from the Girls Nakshatra, the better it
will be for him for their happiness.
Should the groom's birth happen in the 88th Amsha from the bride's Amsha , it would be extremely harmful. one born in the 108th Amsha, i.e. the last
quarter of the previous star. 88th Navamsa is the 4th from Moon in D9, whereas 108th is the 12th from the Moon in D9. 108th Pada is just the pada
before the Moons Nakshatra pada, whereas the 88th pada is 20 padas before the womans Janma Nakshatra pada.

# 2 Gana porutham (6pts) one very important aspect but not compulsory ,Nakshatras are classified into three groups or "Ganas",

namely Deva, Manushya and Asura. It is desirable to have the stars of the couple belonging to compatible ganas, to ensure mutual
agreement of temperament for harmonious prosperity and welfare in wedded life, it increases affection & bond with time between the
partners (especially important for ksatriyas, nobles & royalty for whom ancestral tendency is the first criteria). (partners of similar
temperaments of nature), A Deva can marry a Deva, a Manusha can marry a Manusha, and a Rakshasa can marry a Rakshasa. Another point is that a
Manusha or Deva man should not try to marry a Rakshasa girl unless there are neutralising factors. But marriage between a Rakshasa man and a Deva
or Manusha girl is passable. If marriage is performed between prohibited Ganas there will be constant quarrels and disharmony, the couple would
then welcome an opportunity for extra marital relations, separation and/or divorce.
As a neutralising factor for Ganas it is said that if the nakshatra of the bride is beyond the 14th from that of the grooms the evil influences may be
nullified and thus it is all right to wed.
Deva Ganam:- Punarvasu, Pushyami, Swati, Hasta, Sravana, Revathi, Anuradha, Mrigasira, and Aswini.
Manusha Ganams are:- Rohini, Purva, Purvashadha, Purvabhadrapada, Bharani, Ardra, Uttara Phalguni, Uttarashadha, Uttarabhadrapada.
Rakshasa Ganas are:- Krittika, Aslesha, Magha, Chitra, Vishakha, Jyestha, Mula, Dhanistha, Satabhisakam.
Exceptions; If the moon Rasi of the girl is odd, the 6th and 8th Rasis there from are friendly. If the Rasi of the girl is even the 2nd and 12th
there from become friendly. The problems or evil due to the birth or the bride in a Rakshasa Gana star may be ignored if Janma Rasi being 2nd and
12th, 9th and 5th, or 6th and 8th (the lords of the Rasis are the same or are mutual friends).
There are three levels of analyzing this compatibility, namely: #1. with Janma (moon) Nakshatra (sufficient): #2. with Lagna Nakshatra (if #1
disagree): # 3 with Chandramsa Nakshatra (if # 1 & 2 disagree).: find the star occupied by the moon dispositor in D9 for the boy and girl. If there is
star gana compatibility or there is stree-deergha (# 4), the objection of a boy of Nara gana marrying a girl of Rakshasa gana can be safely ignored.

# 3 Mahendra Porutham, no points (yes or no) This refers to happiness together, promotes well being/ blessings and longevity

to the couple, it is expected to give prosperity and attachment to the children and also enhance their health and longevity.This kuta
cannot be compromised.. if the bride's star is in 4, 13 or 19 from the groom's star, it is termed Mahendra yoga; Increase of wealth and corn
(prosperity). If it is in the 7, 16 or 25 it is called Upendra yoga; birth of children. Therefore the mans star is preferred to be 4, 7, 10 13, 16, 19, 22 or 25
stars away from the womans.

# 4 Deerga porutham (Stree Deergha ) no points (yes or no) if present, Long life to the Husband is expected (no widowhood)

therefore the couple (women especially) can expect to have the blessings of the goddess of wealth. There will be prosperity after
marriage. Principle: The male Nakshatra should be more than 15 stars away from that of the female (or at least 9 away). If that is not so, long life of
the male is not supported. Other factors like Navamsa have to be considered.
Exception; This may be overlooked if the Rasi Kuta and Graha Maitri obtain the required result.

# 5 Yoni Porutham (4pts.maxi) gives an indication of the physical compatibility of the couple for satisfactory mating leading to Prosperity and

a) Nakshatra Yoni (common one for analysis and points);Principle: If the girl is born in a female Nakshatra and the boy is in a male, the couple will have

Yoni Kuta takes into account what externals one will bear, sexual urge, sexual compatibility, size of copulatory organs and their compatibility and so on. Each nature is
equated with an animal according to the capacity of indulgence, and mode of regard. This is given again according to the janma nakshatra. In shastras, marriage
between the same animal class of yoni (male or female) brings great happiness, for it is natural harmony. Compatibility of male and female among friendly
yonis, with both having female nakshatras, will at least bring a fair amount of harmony and agreement.. If incompatible yonis/ nakshatras are combined each will live a
life of hell, thus IT SHOULD NOT BE EVEN THOUGHT OF.

bride should have her Janma Rasi in Mesha and the bridegroom in Vrishabha. If, however, the common Janma Nakshatra belongs to two signs equally (e.g.,

to be the vasya rasi of the bride, the bride shall dearly love the groom and vice versa. Thus, If the Janma rasi of the man and woman happens to be the Vasya rasi of
each other, then the affection among them is the strongest.

ignored ); In other places Rajju is referred to, translated as 'Rope Agreement'. The 27 stars are to be arranged in three avenues,
going three steps forward and three steps backward continuously.
Application of this chart to the stars of the bride and groom is considered very important. If the two stars were found in the same
avenue, column, it would be the blemish called Sama-Rajju. So the alliance should not be recommended. Especially If they
are found in the central avenue, it would be called Madhyama-Rajju, and extremely harmful.

"Literally this word (Vedha) means piecing or hurting. A particular star is said to be Vedha or pierced by another. Where there is such a Vedharelationship between two stars, alliance should not be recommended. Principle 2: Even if there is other agreement such as Vasya, etc., Vedha will
prevail (so the curse seems unavoidable).
This Vedha scheme has been mentioned in Electional Astrology in connection with house construction especially. How to find out which
star is hurt on a particular day? See if any planet is posited in any star of any of the five groups. If there be one, treat the whole group as Viddha
(pierced), and so none of the stars can be elected for house construction or house warming. Hence the stars of the two ought not to belong to the same
group. In the absence of this blemish alliance would be beneficial. Seems very similar to the above Rajju doesn't it?

Compatibility of horoscopes concerning varna ( Jati/ caste) is seen better from the moon position in sign for the bride and groom.
It would be excellent, if the of both partners belong to the same class or if the groom moon sign (or star) is of a higher class than the bride. On the
other hand, should the bride's moon sign (or star) is higher, the result would be inauspicious. Anuloma and Pratiloma: If one of them is Anuloma and
other belongs to one of the other four castes, then it is passable. However, this is rejected is one of them is Pratiloma and the other one belongs to the
rest four. (it looks like if one is born in a pratiloma class he /she could marry another pratiloma/ low class breeding)
This condition of agreement is not absolute. the star-based caste-distinction alone is not at all considered nowadays by astrologers. castes are
allotted /fits better to the moon signs in comparing horoscopes (the varnas of moon star act more subtly, the moon sign is more obvious/ gross
especially in this age ). And it is a fact that the birth Varna of a person is not all-important in regards to spiritual development

stable, if they possess the same attributes. If the qualities of the two parties are not on an equal level, one should make sure that the bridegroom's
qualities are superior to the wife's, otherwise there will be bitterness. In relationships between a man who is from lower class in society/varna than the

women there will be mutual affection and happiness if the bridegroom has better attributes (guna qualities) than the bride. " then The attributes of the
native are dependent on his father and mother, his time of birth and the persons he gets associated with. These are the root causes of qualities (varna &
gunas) possessed by him. The attributes endowed by the time of the birth and associations are stronger than those received from the parents.

# 12 Nadi Kuta . (8pts.); This is considered to be the most important and at the same time the most significant Kuta. In Sanskrit, Nadi means
several things but in reference to astrology, it signifies pulse or nervous energy indicating the physiological and, to a certain extent, hereditary
factors. So it is important to the mood of the relationship and then to the physiological/nervous stability of the couple & children thereof. A boy
with a predominantly windy or phlegmatic or bilious constitution should not marry a girl of the same type especially pitha; there will be many fights
as they are too fiery by nature. The girl should belong to a different temperament. The three Nadis are ruled by the different constellations as follows:
If the constellation of the boy and the girl should fall If Nadi Kuta agreement is not present on the basis of the Nakshatras, then the same may be

The evil due to Nadi Kuta can be ignored subject to the following conditions:a) the Rasi and the Rajju Kuta prevail.
b) the same planet is lord of the Janma Rasis of both the male and the female.
c) the lords of the Janma Rasis of the couple are friends.

Other agreements (these are not compulsory because they become somehow irrelevant in this age but they give
better tuning to the outcome & prospects of marriage; prosperity of the lineage after marriage)

Gotra Agreement; Brahmins especially should consider Gotra Kuta. Ancient Sages who handed down the Vedic lore are seven in number
(saptarishis); Marici, Atri, Vasistha, Angiras, Pulastya, Pulaha and Kratu. There are many ancient sages who are called progenitors of Gotras (who are
not in the saptarishi list) like Vishvamitra, Kashyapa, Gautama (Kripacarya was a descendant of Gautama as Srila Prabhupada & followers),
Jamadagni and Bharadvaj (not included in the 7). This lineage (gotra) of horary sages is based on two factors; birth and learning., i.e. from father to
son; and teacher (mentor - preceptor) to disciple. The 28 stars (nakshatras) including Abhijit (which is placed in Capricorn between Uttarashadha and
Shravan) have been distributed among the above sages at the rate of four asterisms per sage as follows:
(1) Marichi: Aswini, Pushya, Svati, Abhijit.
(2) Vasishta: Bharani, Ashlesha, Vishakha, Shravan.
(3) Angiras: Krittika, Magha, Anuradha, Dhanistha.
(4) Atri: Rohini, Purvaphalguni, Jyestha, Shatabhishakam.
(5) Pulastya: Mrgashirsha, Uttaraphalguni, Mula, Purva Bhadrapad. (6) Pulaha: Ardra, Hasta, Purvashadha, Uttarabhadrapad.
(7) Kratu: Punarvasu, Chitra, Uttarashadha, Revati.
Gautama is one of the saptarsis (MB, sloka 50, Chapter 133, Anusasana Parva). Gautama sat in the court of Brahma and worshipped Brahma. (M.B.
Sabha Parva). (but is not in the official list with the stars)
Principle; identical gotra of a boy and girl would lead to calamity (disaster to the lineage.). If they belong to different gotras, their union will
lead to happiness, prosperity and progeny (the lineage shall prosper). The gotras can be taken also from the lagna naksatra; in this case also if the
naksatras belong to different gotras then it is excellent but if they are of the same gotra the result for the lineage will be moderate (not a disaster).
Note: This factor of compatibility of horoscopes is not taken into consideration too much these days, unfortunately with the decline in Vedic culture,
and pure family lineages. actually in some countries it is still forbidden to marry relations (cousins) from the father side (blood-line). Also Srila
Prabhupada did say that because muslims can marry any blood relatives they are not very intelligent.
Pakshi Agreement (Vihanga Kuta)= Dominance of one partner over other, in this scheme each star has a Totem-bird. For the Five
stars from asvini to Mrgashirsha, the presiding bird is Bherunda (Bharandhaka); for the next six stars from Ardra to Purvaphalguni, it is called Pingala;
for the next six from Uttaraphalguni to Anuradha, it is called Kaka (crow); for the next five from Jyestha to Shravan, it is called Kukkuta (cock); and
lastly for the next five Dhanistha to Revathi, it is Mayura (peacock).
How it works; Inimical pair of relations; Peacock dominates Cock, cock dominates Crow, crow dominates Pingala & pingala dominates bherunda. =
the dominator will create enmity, injurious/ difficult relations, Otherwise If the birds are different they are friendly with other birds = the
dominance upon one another will be moderate/ neutral so cooperation / frienship will be possible. If both the stars have the same bird, the
matching will be excellent
Bhuta (Element) Agreement;(Prevailing element in the personality), Nakshatra Bhuta: Psychological nature, There are five elements
(pancha-mahabhutas) as Bhu (Earth); Apah (Water); Tejas (Fire); Vayu (Air); and Akasha (Ether). The first five stars beginning with Aswini constitute
the earth element; the next six stars from Ardra, water element; the next five from Uttaraphalguni fire element; the next six stars from Anuradha, air
element; and lastly the five stars Akasha element (Ether). If both have the same element, it is very auspicious. Similarly the combination of fire and air
elements is beneficial. If one party has earth, it could be joined with any other element for beneficial results. However, water and fire are inimical and
harmful. But the union of the rest is not forbidden.
Rasi Bhuta: Spiritual nature. Elements are assigned to the signs too: Gemini and Virgo constitute earth elements.; Taurus, Cancer, and
Libra, water; Aries, Leo and Scorpio, fire; Capricorn and Aquarius, air; and Sagittarius and Pisces, ether (????)
Age Agreement (Vayanukulya): Continuation of Lineage In the good old days when child marriage was the order of the day
(this became prevalent during the fanatic medieval period) the ideal marriage was (considered) one where the male's age 3 times that of the female.
If it is double, the effect is considered moderate. If the boy be younger than the girl, extinction of family would follow.
In the Vedic period, however, the rules were quite scientific. For, the ancient lawgivers have ordained that a girl should wait for three years after she
comes of age and then elect a worthy youth for her partner. Caraka, the doyen of Ayurvedic Masters, has asserted that a youth below 25 years and a girl
below 16 years ought not to beget issue
Mental Compatibility (Ashtakavarga);
Principle 1: if the Janma Rasi of the groom falls in the sign which, in the Moons astakavarga of the girls chart has more bindu, it is good. Similarly,
if the Janma Rasi of the Girl falls in a sign which, in the Moons astakavarga of the boy, has more bindus, it is equally good.

Principle 2: Find out the Kaksha in which the Moon is found in the girls horoscope. If the Janma rasi of the boy falls in the sign of the lord of this
Kaksha; the compatibility is good. The reverse is also holds true.
Kaksha: According to the Ashtakavarga scheme Each sign is divided into 8 Kakshas of 3 45 each lorded respectively by Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun,
Venus, Mercury, Moon and Lagna.

in the sign ruled by the Sun, viz., Leo, it is good.
Chittanukulya; (kind of gandharva/ love marriage)
Stanza 54. If the couple love each other, they can enter into wedlock, even if there is no agreement in other ways. This is very important in the matter
of marriage. Stanza 55. One who loves a girl sincerely, from his heart should marry her. Pure love is greater than any other virtue.
NOTES; Stanzas 54 and 55 are suggestive and reflect the wisdom of the ancients in giving priority to mutual love in preference to any other
astrological factor. But the love for each other must spring from their hearts and not from just casual desire. When such pure love is seen between a
boy and a girl, no astrological consideration should intervene to prevent such a marriage . But in the modern times, except in very rare cases, it is
not love that seems to weigh. It is lust which is transient and disappears the moment initial infatuation ends. Hence we see today any number of
tragedies involving young men and women.
In matrimonial alliance the most important factor is the mutual attraction and jubilant or buoyant mental attitude of the two persons. On the other hand,
if a show of interest is put up under compulsion, their wedded life would not be very happy. It is said, 'Mano hi janmantara-sangatijnam' - 'the mind
remembers associations of previous life.' Hence even in the absence of other points of agreement, this alone would confer ideal conjugal felicity. For,
the sub-conscious mind tells one, 'this is your life-partner according to your past karma.' Karma is inviolable. It is otherwise known as fate.Also;
manonukulam prathamam prashastam - the first consideration in assessing marriage compatibility is whether the boy and the girl like each other.
Aya-vyaya: Income and Expenditure;
Principle: Count from the Nakshatra of the bride to that of the groom. Multiply this number by 5 and divide the product by 7. The reminder is Vyaya or
expenditure. If the counting is again made from the Janma Nakshatra of the groom and the same calculation is repeated, the reminder indicates aya
or gain or income.
If the aya is greater than vyaya, marriage brings all round prosperity. If this is reverse, the couple will experience poverty.
Rna-Dhana: Overall marital happiness; Principle 1: Count from Aswini to the Janma Nakshatra of the groom as well as the bride and
total them up. Add to this sum 13. From this total figure subtract 32. Divide the difference by 5. Check the reminder for the following results:

If the total after adding 13 does not come to 32, then the counting should be made from Janma Nakshatra to Aswini.
Principle 2: Count from the Janma Nakshatra of the couple to Aswini. Add the two figures and deduct the sum by 5. Check the reminder for the
following results: 1- Prosperity 2- General progress 3- Calamities 4- Acquisition of wealth 5- Disasters
Principle 3: If the Janma Nakshatras of the groom and the bride fall in the first group namely Ardra, Hasta, Purva-Ashadha, Uttara-Ashadha, there will
be great progress. If they fall in the 2nd group namely, Krttika, Rohini, Mrgashira, Magha, Purva-Phalguni, Uttara-Phalguni, Anuradha, Jyestha,
Moola, Dhanistha,, Shatabhisaj, Purva-Bhadrapada, prosperity shall follow immediately after marriage. However, if they fall in the 3rd group- Aswini,
Bharani, Chitra, Swati, Vishakha, Uttarashadha, Sravana and Revati, expenditure and debts shall follow the marriage.
The infamous Kuja Dosha; A person suffering with Kuja Dosa is vulnerable to physical abuse from the partner.
BV Raman view ; only in the Kerala Sastra that mention is made of Kuja Dosha; "If Mars is in the 2nd, 12th, 4th, 7th and 8th houses in the
horoscope of the female, the death of the husband will occur; similar situation in the husband's horoscope causes the death of wife."
The position of Venus and Mars is very important in judging marital relations. Mars whose element is fire rules marriage. Where he is badly
situated or associated in the horoscope of a male or female, it follows that the sacerdotal fire gets extinguished soon
The Lagna represents body, the Moon, mind and Venus, sexual relations. Therefore, the houses have to be reckoned with reference to all the three, viz.,
Lagna, Moon and Venus. The dosha (evil) is considered weak when it exists from Lagna, a little stronger from the Moon and still more powerful from
Venus. (so if it is reckoned from Lagna, Moon and Venus almost everybody got a kind of kuja dosha)
The second house signifies family; the twelfth represents comforts and pleasures of bed. The fourth rules sukha or happiness. The seventh indicates
husband and eighth represents longevity of the wife or husband. Hence the position of Mars in these houses is supposed to produce this peculiar dosha
or evil. If Kuja Dosha obtains in the horoscopes of both the bride and bridegroom, the dosha gets cancelled. There are, of course, many good
combinations which assure marital felicity and much importance need not be given to Kuja Dosha And the evil influence accruing from the bad
position of Mars is only one of the several elements.. It must be noted that in determining marriage adaptability between two parties, there are
several elements of much more importance than Kuja Dosha.
There shall not be any kuja dosa if : in 2nd & in Gemini and Virgo, in 12th - Taurus and Libra, in 4th & in Aries and Scorpio,
in 7th & in Capricorn and Cancer or in 8th & in Sagittarius and Pisces.+ In Aquarius and Leo, Mars produces no dosha whatsoever.
The dosha is counteracted by the conjunction of Mars and Jupiter or Mars and the Moon; or by the presence of Jupiter or Venus in the ascendant.
Even after comparing the horoscopes of the bride and bride-groom, 'prasna' is essential for finding out the prospects of their conjugal life, according
to the rule laid down by Brhaspati and Madhavacarya.

4th step; prasna for the future couple,

According to Indian astrological textbooks, the astrologer should not only scrutinize the horoscopes but must also study the physical features of the couple. Before
answering a particular question he must consider the state of mind of the questioner and also the omens seen or heard at the time of query. In other words, to give
really sound advice the astrologer should meet both the girl and the boy and ask questions about their life history as well as their expectations regarding marriage and
their ideal marriage partner.
Omens Regarding Marriage during prasna- (Vivaha-Sakuna):
Success of marriage the queriest holding his hands joined together or touching his chest or head.
Omens indicating quick marriage. Arrival of a cloth-vendor; a person wearing new clothes and holding washed ones in the hand; arrival of a dear person; a vesselvendor arriving; sight of a mirror with a handle; sight of the white flower 'lucas aspera' or Tumbe (in Kannada), silver articles, someone rubbing his eyes, two objects
bound together.
Hindrances to marriage. If the querist touches his knees or feet. Or his back or hips with his left hand.
If birds, animals or snakes are seen mating, the girl's chastity would be in doubt. If a man comes to the place of query accompanied by two women, or one woman
accompanied by two men, or a cow and a bull are seen in the vicinity, it indicates remarriage.
(i) Sight of red flower(s) would lead to a postponement owing to the girl being in menses.
(ii) Scratching one's body, sight of blood, an elephant's trumpeting, a buffalo's cry, falling of a red flower from the tree.
(iii) Two persons coming together and then going in opposite directions; sight of a dead body; two persons engaged in quarrel.
Bad Omens: If in the vicinity of the session somebody is seen digging the earth, or the sound of a wooden piece being sawn is heard, it would suggest that the girl in
question is of questionable character.
In prasna chart;

Prospects Of Married Life; If Venus and lord of the 7th house be posited in 3rd, 6th, 10th or 11th house, the couple's fortune would increase after marriage. In the
same manner their fortune would improve after the birth of a child, should the significator of progeny viz., Jupiter, and the lord of the 5th house be posited in 'Upacaya'
growth houses 3,6,11.
Quick Marriage.
(i) If the Moon and Venus be posited in strength in even signs or 'Amshas', and aspecting the ascendant, the person would be married soon.
(ii) If the ascendant be in a female decanate or even 'Amsha', the Moon and Venus, aspecting the ascendant, there would be quick marriage
The following Yogas indicate also quick marriage:
(i) The Moon should be posited in one of the 3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th, and 7th house, and be aspected by benefics.
(ii) The ascendant should be Virgo, Libra, Gemini or Aquarius, and the Moon and Venus in the ascendant or the 7th house.
(iii) Mercury, Jupiter and Venus should be in angles, especially in the 7th house
The Couple's Prosperity; If 1st, 5th, 7th, 8th, and 9th houses be occupied by their lords, and benefics occupy or aspect them, this Yoga would bestow prosperity and
happiness on the couple, provided malefics have no connection whatsoever with them. If both the ascendant and the Moon be posited in benefic 'Amshas', the result
would be auspicious. On the other hand, if they be in malefic 'amshas', it would end in calamity.
According to Brhaspati the following two Yogas lead to the couple's death.
(i) Malefics should occupy the ascendant, which must be their inimical or debilitation sign.
(ii) Malefics should be in the 7th or 8th 'Bhava' which is like the above. If the 5th house be occupied by a malefic in his debilitation and aspected by an inimical planet,
the girl would go astray, or her children might not survive; she might give to still-born children.
Should the lord of the 7th be endowed with strength, the bride after her marriage would become wealthy and happy. On the other hand, if he be in his
debilitation or inimical house, she might be without beauty and virtue. If the Moon or Venus, occupy a friendly house, aspects the ascendant, which is an old sign, the
bride will love the groom intensely.
If Mars, the Sun or Jupiter, occupying a friendly house, should aspect the ascendant that is an even sign, the man would have exceptional love for the girl.

prasna from the boys side concerning the bride; If a girl turns up suddenly at the query session, and begins to talk, or stands looking on, or if somebody be
talking about a girl, then the person would get a girl similar in features to the one who has come. The direction from which the girl would hail should be determined
through the 'Arudha' or the ascendant, whichever is stronger.
Indications Of Characteristics Of the future wife Type Of Girl. If the 7th house belongs to a benefic, the man will get a bride of the class, characteristics and
complexion etc., allotted to that planet; but if it belongs to a malefic, the girl will have features etc., assigned to that planet. When the lord of that lagna or the Moon be
posited in the 7th house, the querist would get a bride without his seeking
A Beautiful Bride; Should there be benefics in trines or angles, and the 7th house owned and aspected by benefics, the queriest would get a charming girl as his
bride. On the other hand, if the 7th house be owned and aspected by malefics, he would be married to an ugly girl.
The Bride's Character; At a query about this, if the lagna be an immovable sign, and both the Moon and the lagna-lord be in immovable signs, she should be declared
to be of unsullied character. If the above three entities be in movable signs, the girl though in maidenhood must be spoiled; but if the Moon be in a dual sign and the
ascendant in a movable sign, her flaw must be negligible.
If the Moon and Mars be joined in a movable sign the girl must have been enjoyed covertly by somebody; while if Saturn and the Moon be posited in the

married life be prosperous and happy."
According to Brhaspati "In the query chart the ascendant represents the bride, and the 7th house, the bride-groom's physical conditions, character etc.,. ."If the 7th
house of the query chart be occupied by benefics, the wedlock would lead to prosperity and happiness.The other 'bhavas' viz., 2nd, 3rd etc., would indicate the
corresponding significations of the bride as in the case of the natal chart. if the Sun be posited in his debilitation or inimical house, without aspecting the ascendant or
'Arudha', the astrologer should declare that the girl's father would be dead. Similar result can be read from the Moon in respect of the bride's mother. On the other
hand, if the Sun being strong be posited in a good house, her father must be alive, though the lagna be not aspected by the Sun. However, there is no difference:
Though the father is alive, the girl may not be benefited by him. Similarly other relations should be considered from the respective significators. If the Sun be posited in
an inimical or depressed house, or if the 7th house is not aspected by the Sun, groom's father may not be alive. The mother's existence has to be inferred from the
Moon under similar circumstances
Marriage will take place without hindrance if; the lords of the lagna and the 7th house, or Venus and lagna-lord, are together or aspect each other, or if they are
exalted or in friendly houses, or exchange positions
Or Moon in 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, or 12th, and aspected by Jupiter.
Obstacles to the marriage: According to Brhaspati; query made during waning Moon & moon in an even sign or in the 8th house, or aspected by malefics= the
marriage will not take place.
Moon in 3rd, 6th, 10th, or 11th house either from the 'Arudha' or ascendant is aspected by Mars =obstacles to the marriage on account of the girl's monthly course.
Stoppage Of The Marriage.
# Malefic is in the 8th house at query & debilitated or aspected by other malefics.
# 6th house occupied by a debilitated malefic and aspected by malefic, the stoppage is due to illness of the bride or groom (or short live to them), or It may be due to
the machination of relatives.
# Moon in the 6th or 8th house combined with malefics; the couple would meet with their end in the 8th year of their marriage.
# Mars in the 6th or 8th house from the Moon, the husband would quit the world within 9 years without begetting any issue.
# Moon and Mars in the lagna or 7th; husband's death expected in the 7th month.

The parties should then approach an astrologer on an auspicious day for fixing an auspicious Muhurtha for the marriage ceremony."

According to some, even Aswini, Chitra, Shravan and Dhanistha may be accepted in exceptional circumstances.
Star Elected.(tarabala) The best stars are those except the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th in any round for both (partners) from their respective natal stars. However, in the
case of the bride her natal star or its trine (1,10,19) is not to be rejected.
Planetary Transits. Most important of all planetary transits are those of Jupiter and the Sun; they are the 'sine qua non' for marriage. This is highly beneficial to both
the bride and the groom. Should Jupiter occupy the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 4th, 10th or 12th (even the 1st is considered bad for him) from the natal Moon of the bride or the
groom at marriage, he would bestow prosperity, conjugal felicity and such other cherished things, on them, provided the house is his own or exaltation sign. Otherwise
Jupiter should be propitiated through appropriate Japa, Homa, feeding (distribution of prasadam) etc. in order to invoke His mercy and benevolence on the couple.
Triple Strength; According to some, of all benefits the groom should secure the Sun's transitory benefit, while the girl Jupiter's, and both the Moon's (Chandrabala). If
this is not gotten, there is likely to be obstacles. If the Sun is in the 8th, 4th or 12th in transit in the groom's case, it is likely to result in tragedy. Effects of this strength
are said to be (1) long life on account of Jupiter's good transit; (2) wealth through the Moon's transit; and (3) power, through the Sun's transit. If Mars be in good transit,
the benefit to the couple would be gain of land or position.
Auspicious Ascendants; for marriage the best signs are (1) Gemini, Virgo, and Libra as lagnas. (2) Moderate are Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius, and Pisces. Even the
latter ones would be excellent, should they be occupied by a benefic. Some texts recommend even Capricorn and Aquarius with Venus in them
Bhaga/ Goduli muhurtha; good for all matters related to women; Marriage, etc(for lower castes) starts at about 48 mn. before sunset till sunset.
Abhijit-Muhurtha except Wednesday; highly auspicious period highly praised by ancient authors. It is midday (24mn. Before and after, not 12 am.) This Muhurtha is
said to confer progeny and other benefits on the couple.
Lunar Days. All lunar days (Tithis) except 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 14 and New Moon are good. Even the 8th Tithi may be accepted in emergencies, provided the Moon is
aspected by benefics. The days of the dark fortnight are to be avoided beyond Panchami.
Lunar Months. Vaishakha (21st April - 20th May), Jyestha (21st May - 20th June), Magha (21st January - 20th February), and Phalguna (21st February - 20th March)
are the best months. Out of the remaining 8 months Ashadha (21st June - 20th July), Shravan (21st July - 20th August), Bhadrapada (21st August - 20th September)
and Pausha (21st December - 20th January) are considered as most inauspicious. a woman married in the month of Mrigashirsha (21st November - 20th December),
would be quarrelsome and intent on visiting other houses, but be blessed with wealth and happiness.
Solar Months. Among the Solar months the best are Aries (21st March - 20th April), Taurus (21st April - 20th May), Gemini (21st May - 20th June), Capricorn (21st
December - 20th January), and Aquarius (21st January - 20th February). Cancer (21st June - 20th July), Virgo (21st August - 20th September) and Sagittarius (21st
November - 20th December) are shunned. Some do not approve of even Libra (21st September - 20th October) and Leo (21st July - 20th August), especially when
Jupiter occupies the latter. Among the sun/moon Yogas 1, 6, 9, 10, 13, and 15 are to be avoided. Among the Karanas Vishti and the four immovable ones are
dangerous and to be rejected

In the election of a Muhurtha for marriage, as many of the 21 dosha are possible and should be avoided . The most importants are; (1) The 7th house must be
unoccupied by any planet (2) Mars should not be in the 8 th (3) Venus should not be in the 6 th (4) Lagna should not be hemmed in between malefics (5) Malefics should
not occupy Lagna (6) The Moon in the election chart should not conjoin any planet
Apart from the above, the usual Tarabala, Panchaka. etc., should be looked into.
Jupiter, Mercury or Venus in Lagna, malefics in the 3rd or 11th, would constitute a formidable force in rendering the Lagna strong. The following are some of the
special combinations which are supposed to fortify the marriage election chart: 1. Jupiter in the ascendant, Venus in the 8th and the Sun in the 11th - Mahendra
Yoga. 2. Venus in Lagna, Jupiter in the 10th and the Sun and Mercury in the 11th-Vishnu Priya Yoga. 3. Venus in the 2nd, Jupiter in the 12th, the Sun in the 8th and
Saturn in the 6th - Sreenatha Yoga. 4. Venus in Lagna, Jupiter in the 4th, Mercury in the 2nd and Saturn in the 11th - Samudra Yoga. 5. Mercury, Jupiter and Venus in

Abortion:
1. When counting the number of children, such as the first child being represented by the 5th house
cusp, the 2nd child being represented by the 7th house cusp, the third child being represented by the 9th
house cusp, etc., what happens when there has been an abortion? Do we count that as a child?
Mistakes made here will give mistakes in predicting correctly the sex of each child and the number of
children. When an abortion takes place after 3 months from conception, the fetus is counted as a child because
during that abortion, the sex of the child was clearly developed, but when abortion takes place before the
completion of the 3 month gestational period, this pregnancy is not taken as a child birth because the sex of the
child, prior to that time, is not clear. So this factor must be clearly known for an astrologer to fix both the sex
of the child, and the correct number of children that the mother will deliver.
Accidents:
1. Consider houses 8 and 12 for accidents: 8th serious illness, accident, suicide; 12th self-undoing,
confinement in bed or hospital, defects, deformities, amputation or mutilation of a limb, bodily injury. Mars,
Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu cause accidents.
2. If the sub lord of either the Ascendant or the 8th house cusp is posited in the star of the occupant or the
owner of the 8th or 12th house, there will be an accident.
3. The danger to the individual's life will likely prove fatal if the sub lord is in the star of either the occupant
or the owner of the 8th, 7th, or 2nd.
4. The individual will survive the accident if the sub lord is in the star of either the occupant or owner of the
2nd, 7th, and 11th.
Adoption:
1. What indicators show adoption in a chart?
An individual who has been denied children will opt for adopting a child if the 5th cuspal sub lord and Jupiter,
Saturn, Mercury, Mars, and Moon, are connected to the 4th, 8th, and 12th houses.
Badhaka Houses:
1. The badhaka houses are houses that are harmful to life, and badhaka houses are more harmful for life than
maraka houses. The badhaka houses are the 11th for those born in Cardinal (moveable) signs, the 9th for those
born in Fixed signs, and the 7th for those born in Mutable (dual) signs.
2. For death, first consider the badhaka houses, and then the maraka houses as dangerous for the native, as
