Thank you for your interest in Lenawee County Emergency Services School, a collaboration of more than 15 local
agencies and resources that share the common goal of providing quality educational opportunities to emergency first
responders from medical, fire, and emergency management disciplines throughout southeast Michigan and northwest
Ohio.

Endorsed by the Lenawee County Fire Chief Association and Lenawee County Medical Control Authority Board, this
program represents a wide range of classes providing important education for the efficiency and safety of responders and
the communities in which they serve, as well as many courses which meet requirements for continuing education credits.
Our instructors represent a broad spectrum of certifications, credentials and professions, and we appreciate their time,
training and expertise to make this important opportunity possible at no cost to participants.

Registration
Registration is required as classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. On-site registration will not be
available the day of the school. Box lunches will be provided on Saturday, May 15th at no cost to all pre-registered
participants. These lunches are being donated by Sodexo and will only be provided on Saturday May 15th. All
registration’s must be completed by May 7th, 2010.

and are as follows:

Lenawee County Fire Chief’s Association Fire Fighter I & II


Graduation Ceremonies
All participants are invited to attend the Lenawee County Fire Chief's Association Fire Fighter I & II graduation.
Ceremonies will begin at 16:00 on Sunday the 16th in the Franceour Theater located behind Dominican Hall. A reception
will follow afterward. The featured guest speaker for the graduation ceremonies is Mayor Mike Bell, City of Toledo.
Mayor Bell has extensive credentials including:

Toledo Fire Department 1980 – 2006

In 1990, when he was named chief of the Toledo Fire Department, Michael Bell earned two distinctions: At the age of
thirty-five, he became the youngest fire chief among the nation's metropolitan fire departments. As an African
American, he also became the first such person to helm a major fire department in the state of Ohio.

Led homeland security efforts in Northwest Ohio following the tragic events of September 11, 2001

Earned Toledo Fire Department the prestigious Accreditation honor by the Commission of Fire Accreditation

President's Recognition Award, International Association of Fire Chiefs, 2000

Appointed State Fire Marshall by Governor Strickland in 2007

Developed statewide ―Everyone Goes Home‖ initiative that won the Seal of Excellence Award by the Firefighter Life
Safety Initiatives Program.
