Fire prohibitions

Effective at noon on Sunday May 15,

Categories 2 & 3 open fires will be prohibited throughout the Kamloops Fire
Centre to help prevent human-caused
wildfires. This prohibition will remain in
effect until Oct. 15 or until further notice.
Prohibited activities include: burning
waste & slash, grass fires, use of fireworks,
sky lanterns or burning barrels. it does not
ban .5m x .5m campfires or cooking stoves
that use gas, propane or briquettes.
Between April 1 & May 11, BC Wildfire
Service crews responded to 36 wildfires in
the Kamloops Fire Ctre, many of which were
the result of poorly planned open burning.
