I prefer Schaller locks and there-in lyes the problem.

Schaller provides and is

designed around #6 wood screws, the Warwick uses oversize string buttons
with #10 screws. I haven't put too much worry into this, the oversize
buttons seem fairly effective. Nothing has loosend up or fallen off, so I see
that as a good sign.

if you do go with Schaller, use the screws that you already have. Schaller's
come with screws that are smaller than the standard, therefore pop out
regularly. most guys use the toothpick repair method, but that too only
works for so long.

I had a Warwick FNA Jazzman, with standard strap attach, not locking.
The screws that were in the bass didn't pass through the Schaller straplock :
head to much large, "screw" a little to large.
I bought some screw the same size a the warwick, and filed their head so
they can enter into the strap. Not difficult at all.
Then I had to force a little to help them go into the strap hole, but nothing
very destructive for the strap or the screw!
For information, I used 4,5mm diameter and 35mm long screws....
If it helps someone...

If you take care of the bass, wax the body, change the battery this bass will
last forever live. Just remember to wipe of the oil-finished neck after long
gigs, as the sweat can cause a white "glare" on the neck. Nothing that
affects the sound, just the feeling. I have never had to do that. The finish is
natural oil, so it needs to be waxed. After a few waxings it only needs to be
waxed maybe once every month or twice. If you just do this it will look ever
so beautiful. The stapbuttons are Jim Dunlop flush-mount straplocks, which
are VERY solid. They work great, just push the button to release the strap. It
is very reliable. If the battery should run out during a gig, you can just
switch to passive mode by pulling the volume knob, so you won't have to
interrupt the song. I have never had to adjust the trussrod, and I hav had
the bass for a year now. The neck is very thick, so there is very little need of
adjusting the trussrod, unless you want to switch to 0.50 strings. I would
without doubt use this bass on a gig without backup. It is so well-built that
you can be sure it will stand up to anything.

The neck PU seems to lack bottom. I have other top shelf basses with the
same basic PU config, and they deliver what I expect of a neck PU. This one
lacks that heavy deep tone. The MM-type humbucker is splittable, and as
good as any OEM PU of this type, maybe better. You can choose series or
parallel for the humbucker, but this has no effect on the neck J-PU. So the
more neck PU you dial in, the less effect is heard from ser/par switch. You
can also get single coils running neck and bridge, like a J-bass, altho I
haven't found that very useful. It's a kinda punky tone. You're running a
'large-pole' SC at the bridge and a 'small-pairs' J-PU at the neck, so the main
job of the neck PU seems to be hum cancelling for the fat SC at the
bridge. It's all about the bridge PU, so essentially this is a MM-type bass, and
in that genre, it does very well, but so do its competitors, some of which are
more affordable by $1000.
