Those concerned with inventory availability struggle to obtain the information they need with
enough lead time to insure that inventory is received complete and on time. The presentation will
discuss constructive solutions retailers can employ to significantly increase their purchase order
and lead time dependability, including obtaining visibility to inbound movements and using
technology to assume operational control of shipments inbound from suppliers, while managing
the carrier relationship and transit.

A New Innovative Approach to Ending the Tug of War over Damage Reimbursements
Driven more than ever by the need to add value to their bottom lines, retailers and
manufacturers struggle to reach a consensus over fair and equitable damage reimbursement
policies, leading to contentious relationships. Learn how this new innovative approach uses the
methodical collection and analysis of critical data to provide indisputable facts as to the root
causes and responsibilities of damages. Case studies and customer participation will demonstrate
how this approach removes relational barriers and cultivates a high level of trust among trading
partners to foster amicable agreements on damage reimbursements.

Rethinking Your Assortment Planning Strategy

Value-based products will become top priority for consumers with fewer dollars to spend.
Retailers need to review assortments at the shelf level to accommodate space and premium
placement for these items. Retailers also need to review assortment plans at the local level
ensuring the right products are in the right stores at the right levels. JDA has reached out to a
retail customer to co-present to provide attendees with both a retailer and vendor perspective on
effective assortment planning.
Wayne Usie from JDA is also interested in being taking part in panel discussion or roundtable to
discuss challenges facing the retail industry and strategies for addressing those challenges (e.g.
space & category management, assortment planning, demand management, replenishment, and
more).
Recall Best Practices
It is one of those bad things that you think only happens to other companies, not yours. But then
it hits, out of the blue, out of nowhere, unexpected, unplanned and suddenly you feel out of
control. The media, the regulatory agencies, your customers, and your management all want
answers now. Answers on what and how to communicate, how to retrieve and destroy the
product, and how to report the progress to the regulatory agencies daily. Bottom line, you need
an action plan to minimize risk, maintain your brand and company image and retail your customer
loyalty. Its certainly not an easy task to manage for anyone, anytime, but especially if have never
experienced a recall. Sharing combined experience of managing over forty high profile recall
events in one year alone, this presentation will reveal some of the best practices for recall
management in the three key areas of pre-event, event and post event. Key tips will be provided
to help you be more prepared and in control just in case it happens to your company.
Balancing Environmental Sustainability with Regulatory Requirements
Seems like everyone is focused on finding ways to make their company more environmentally
friendly. But in the world of returns, an environmental sustainability program must balance with
the ever-changing regulatory requirements in order to minimize risk. Within the electronics, food
and pharmaceutical industries, Rodney will share how reverse logistics can help you improve your
sustainability program and at the same time help you avoid the associated regulatory risks.

First Observer Program Training
Total Security Services International (TSSI) is currently engaged in the creation of unclassified
counter-terrorism training modules as an integral part of a nationwide security domain awareness
program called First Observer. The program operates within a cooperative agreement with the

highway professionals (truck and bus drivers, bridge and tunnel toll and maintenance personnel,
roadside law enforcement officers) to be alert to indicators of terrorism that might target
highway resources or structures or use highways or commercial vehicles to deliver weapons of
mass destruction. It also provides a line of reporting directly to the TSA for those trained
