Prologue
This book contains stories from
apprentices in La Ceja- Antioquia, this
group of Apprentices created stories with
an agriculture background, every story was
a creation of their imagination, dreams and
part of their own lives written in a piece of
paper, the stories are part of the Product
evidence for the Competence Produce
English Text during the study program in
Agriculture production Technology.

CAPTAIN
GREENMAN
Once upon a time a boy named Juanito who dreamed being captain, but not any captain,
wanted to be the captain of the environment all his classmates laughed whenever asked he
was asked what he dreamed to be, and he gave that answer, just told him :
- you fool! Captain of the environment? Ha ha ha ha ha thats only in his mind.
He did not pay attention to these teasing, he kept dreaming about saving the environment.
It was the last week before to go on vacation when the teacher decided to assign them
homework, she told them to do a project to share with the community.
When he got home he only thought in which project would do, because nothing came to
his mind. After dinner he went to bed and fell asleep and had a beautiful dream in which he
was a great captain, a super hero of recycling.
The next day, through the windows of the room entered the sunlight rays, Juanito rose with
such enthusiasm; because he knew what he would do, he ate his breakfast and quickly
went to a field near his house; he sat with his notebook and meanwhile he was thinking
how he would do his project that his teacher sent them, he looked mountains and birds
that flew above the trees.
While he wrote a reflection on the environment he thought excellent ideas.
He said to himself:
-I want to save the environment as it is also our home and if we human beings do not care
who will take care of it?

He wrote his project and went home so happy because he never thought that he would like
so much the project that he did.
Holidays passed by and had to go back to school he was so anxious and nervous.
When he arrived to school there were many people because the teacher had invited the
whole community to hear the projects that their students had,
The teacher explained to all what was that meeting for:
Each one read a project and the best will be chosen by the community and the project will
be done with the everybodys help .
Juanito was so nervous that his little hands were sweating. His turn to read his project came.
He introduced himself, and began to read:
His project consisted that between everybody, they will start to recycle, separate and collect
all the garbage and plastic bags that were thrown on roads and forests so that would not
contaminate water, soil and air mainly, save water and take care of forests and animals.
Everyone was so surprised that everyone was charmed that
project because everyone thought in how they do if the water,
the air and the creatures that lived there were no longer exist as
Juanito read.
And he finished reading a reflection written by himself which
said:
-This is our home, our responsibility is to look after it !.
Everybody stood up applauding while shouted captain
Greenman!!! Captain Greenman!!!.
He smiled, it was definitely the best project and the lucky
winner, and everybody with enthusiasm began to conserve
water, soil, animals and the forest. They collected trash that
they saw along the way and forests, avoided throw their
garbage on the ground. Juanito was happy forever as he
fulfilled his dream of being a super hero of recycling.

Grow Without
Contaminate.
One Friday morning, Marta woke up very happy, with energy to keep doing her daily
activities as she always did. She prepared her breakfast, got ready and went out happy to
have the opportunity to explore the beautiful green fields and her crops.
When she arrived where she had all her crops and where she stayed most of her time, she
realized that in the crop some plants had some pest and grow problems, she was shocked
and went very fast to an agricultural store, she told the agronomic Engineer who
recommended a product to control growth and pests problems in the crop, he sold her a
product which apparently was new and very toxic to the environment. But according to the
Agronomic engineer is very efficient and it has a quick effectiveness.
Marta with the purpose of save their plants applied it immediately, was a long time
walking through the field, at noon she decided to go home for lunch, she was resting for a
while and then she returned to the field to observe her plants, When she arrived, she
realized they had improved greatly, made her think that if she did not use this product, she
could not solve the problem, since she decided to continue cultivating and using that kind
of agrochemicals.

A couple of days passed by and for her crop was close to harvest, she thought about
going out to the market and ask for product prices, she noticed that the price was
adequate to sell, so she decided to harvest.
She harvested and packed the products, she sold them and thus obtained good
profits, but she did not realize that the evil that she did to grow with agrochemicals.
One afternoon she was at home resting, sat in the room, she turned on the television
and watched the news, they said that apparently the farmers were acting too bad,
because they had been using more agrochemicals and they did not realize these were
harmful to human health and soil too, Marta decided to rest, when suddenly she had
a strange dream where she felt that everything she was doing was wrong, because
people were suffering a lot of health problems due pollution in the nature and in the
food they have eaten, she felt it was her fault for being using such harmful products,
at that time came to her a girl who told her please stop using that kind of fungicides
and other products, the girl said her to reconsider that the future could be in her
hands; when she wanted to answered the girl, but suddenly she woke up and
realized it was a dream in which she needed to reconsider the actions that she was
doing because she was using bad products to grow her plants but these were not
recommended for humanity and nature, noticing this, she decided to stop using these
products and changed her actions in an ecological way, she started to do
campaigning to increase awareness in people to be aware how valuable is our life to
destroy it with pesticides. Remember that we value the environment in which we live
and ourselves, think again and take good care of our planet, not destroy it, appreciate
its beauty and always keep the soil in good condition and never forget that both your
future and all human kind is in our hands and it is needed to work on improve good
health habits and conserve a healthy environment.

ANY RESEMBLANCE TO REALITY IS PURELY

COINCIDENTAL

Long time ago people lived their lives quietly; the world was
a generally good place to spend our days. Abundant forests,
rivers and flowers, no regrets, it was almost as beautiful as a
little pink rose.
There was a cabin, where lived a noble old lady, single, she
was so alone that she had nobody whom suffer for, and no
one suffered for her. Every day when ring the bells in the
village at 6: am, the old lady rose, put coffee on the stove
and was preparing to sit embroidering because that was her
hobby. Then one morning the lonely old lady sat to
embroider, and embroidered and embroidered to make a
giant blanket.
When she finally finished, put it on the table, she observed a while to see that in its center
a large black hole is formed, in which her curiosity dominate her and then entered into it,
after entering she found a very different place where she lived, was a place without trees,
very tall, so tall that almost reached the sky, no animals, no flowers of pretty colors, no
beauty in terms of natural resources, her whole life was accustomed to see, there was no
forest, there were a lot of people, few clean air, lots of noise, lots of cars and countless
roads, the old lady was desperate and very suffocated, wanted to return to the place
which she belonged and did not want to return to that place but she could not find the
way back to her humble cabin, she missed her flowers, huge trees full of leaves and life,
everything that all her life she lived surrounded for, and now it was gone, she was lost
between so much construction and destruction, in a place where there was abundant the
desire to demolish what once was like a playground, laughter, quiet, green areas, which
no longer existed rivers, where time changed. Those who gave their lives to care and
protect what the land gave us, they were gone.
The old lady finally found a way to get away from there, she returned to her cabin and ran
to town to tell the people what she had seen, but no one believed her, everyone thought
that her age was affecting her brain and they thought it was impossible that something
so beautiful be destroyed and even worse by the same man.
Very sad, the old lady returned to her cabin, she sat to embroider because everything she
said was true.
That alone old lady was able to see what men could do for wanting to "move forward"
she died sitting, embroidering a better world that she can only find in her imagination.
Over the years men progress, grow, develop, but is done, believing that is the key, so it will
die with their environment.

THE FOREST
He wrote his project and went home so happy because he never thought that he would like
so much the project that he did.

-This morning some people from the city visited the forest, and I
heard them to say that, they would cut all the trees to take them
and build a small town, and I do not want to leave without
knowing what is going to be my fate, even more after I met you,
you look like a girl that loves biodiversity.

-Is the way it is, thus I was born and raised in the middle of all this wonderful landscape,
How not to love it! But do not worry, I will look for ways to defend this beautiful forest, it is
also my home.
Tahiana after arriving home was sad all the time her parents were worried to see her sad
face at dinner.
Her mother worried asked:
What's wrong child, I never saw you sad?
She thought that her parents could help her, so she told them everything that was going on.
Her father said:
-Don't worry you'll solve it, I promise.
Next day her father gave her directions to be done.
She went to the forest to greet her friend the tree.
She told him what to do.
-When you see the lords because they're easy to scare, you will talk with other trees when
the people arrived, everyone started to move and you were talking to them and they will
think this is a haunted forest, they will run scared and never return to hurt them.
Thanks girl I'll always thank you.
- That is the reason for humans to exist, to protect them, but unfortunately some people do
not think they are also hurting themselves.
The tree did what the girl had told him, he passed the voice with the help of birds and some
other animals.
The next day certainly the lords returned with chainsaws, machinery and trucks to transport
the wood, they did what the girl had said to the animals they worked together, the lords run
away terrified, they left everything they brought.
Everyone laughed out loud because they never had to do something like that.
When the girl went, all animals were around her to thank her for all that she had done for
them, saved their home.
Proud of what she had done, Tahiana ran to her home to tell her parents that everything
went well.
After few days Tahiana and her parents, kept going for walks in the forest, they carried their
lunch and sat under the tree to tell stories and laugh.
Forever the forest was safe and sound and the family looking after him and animals that
lived there.

STORY
FOR GREEN PEOPLE
In a distant forest full of wildlife is a huge river that comes from the highest mountains is a
clean and healthy huge water source but where you can build a huge bilgico potential
with beautiful forests and a unique landscape where anyone I could live happily just that
there are not allowed to people like us inhabit, then many wondering just have nature if
you loved as we can not live as there is also a great something secret mystery that can only
be found in him beyond the mountain there that want to know everyone reading this story
because I tell them there are beautiful mysterious beings, that mysterious because they are
unique which owns the greatest treasure a treasure that can not be bought and that they
would not trade for the new universe that now surrounds us a world full of new things
apparatus technologies and pollution caused by all this because they are surrounded by a
healthy environment and a healthy and pleasant environment with the little they have,
they have much they are the caretakers of these landscapes and therefore does not allow
access to beings as we are told that someone around us look toward the highest mountain
and wanted to go to discover its mysteries for one star lived above this while the young can
not stand the curiosity and prepared for many months and finally went up there with the
enthusiasm and the desire to discover something new in this place but the young after
many attempts and suffering came to where clear mind everything was beautiful
incomparable to the mountains he was used to study when he found a secret entrance
behind a beautiful trees got scared but took a chance and try to cross when he was already
crossing saw there something amazing a rare unexplained be but her beauty shone the
astonished wanted to go for a better look but when He came not resist the sparkle in his
eyes that lit all the place the young man fainted and until the other day did not wake but
when he awoke he was in a place that was not that much different had discovered with
amazement I look around and all was dry beautiful nature had disappeared the truth was
not so far from home was in the park the young man thought for a while and came to the
conclusion that it was a dream of the ideal world he wanted to live.

MY LEGACY
An environmental tale ... not flow; indeed maybe that's the reason, the mere fact of taking
something as serious and as evident as a story, but is a reality that strikes us sight and
shouts in the face and even though we become blind and deaf.
And I had the opportunity to live almost all my life in the countryside, breathing and run
freely and felt so free and so full of life that more than one would envy me. I've been in
magical places, unforgettable landscapes and until today remain in my memory but I have
not came back, I would love my children to motivation to change and improve; but How
to change?, How to improve?, I will not leave since the change towards consciousness, I
understand a little the definition of change that the humanity has had in recent times ...
After some time I thought about, I understand a little that to give a good concept of change
at the social level there are three factors that have affected this concept, population growth,
industrialization and consumption in other words:
With the rampant growth of the world population has required more food, more crowded
space, and higher costs of natural resources. This same population growth has led to
industrialize most productive processes that facilitate the life of this society; and it is logical
a force of natural change occurs to improve techniques and processes that society demands
it; I'm not against industrialization or the modernization but what is the price of this? The
modernization and industrialization devastate with dozen of natural resources every day,
even for the simplest processes such as the real estate industry destroys dozen of natural
forests each day and that welfare offered by this, is my greatest intrigue.
But there is a major force that allows you to justify industrialization all this waste of natural
resources is the consumption. Which starts in all of us, we are the worst consumerist society
ever, we are not capable of reused, we are lazy or repulsiveness to have something already
used and for me, here is where the problem lies. Everything starts from the education of
being as a person, as being social with ourselves but also with the space that surround us
and is a past generation problem that can be solved with the new ones.

The new generations are getting used to live in

the world as it is but it is our obligation to
teach them the bad work we have done
watching the world and is in your hands take
care and protect it.
I do not pretend to cause global impact with
this thought even I would like ... I think it's fair
that I reflect on the state of life I lead and my
socialist consumption and probably can cause
change in next generations.
Son, grandchildren, this is my legacy the
greatest gift that life has given us.

THE GREAT DREAM

This is the story of a young man named Stephen who lives on a farm of Antioquia; which was the
youngest of three brothers, when children were the family enjoyed the most trips to the farm since
external reasons they had to abandon and leave it alone; in particular all came to play as touring
the estate to horse riding, hang out in the river and similar things while Stephen was much more
interested in processes that were performed there for it was fascinating to see how a small thing
such as a seed may arise great things that over time can satisfy a need for someone, besides that
everything there looked so cool, meadows, trees everything for him was so beautiful but his
parents never let or interested by let them practice or by being present at the time of planting,
harvesting or much less that he was stuck between the Earth since they had a future thought for
Stephen could triumph and go forward without being in the Sun or put between land although it
was his passion and his parents were disagreed with that.
But everything changes as the years passed Stephen grew and became a great man, as his brothers
had to make the decision to choose a career that will help them get achievements as his father had
obtained as he was a great doctor and well known, he wanted one of his sons to follow his steps
and clear was, he had chosen Esteban instead of his other siblings, but as al conscious man of his
acts, he decided to study agricultural engineering even if his parents were in disagreement since he
felt that in his heart, his soul and his projects were focused on work in agriculture; He said to his
father: I love what you do and I respect this but I want you to respect my decision to study what
they have decided and that I support, since the field we can obtain much knowledge in order to
improve not only there but also in the family. His father did not want to accept and well, Stephen
went to study his career away from his family.

One day, he received an unexpected surprise his father came where he was and gave him support
and also gave him a farm that he adored so much and where he was so happy in his childhood. With
this Stephen decided to return to his new home "the farm" and there with the knowledge they had
acquired was proposed to mount a production unit that was one of the best in the region which
could provide employment for several families so that they would see how to work and later could
start a business together and thus become one of the largest producers of organic fruits and
vegetables provided several benefits for consumers and the community.
Stephen tells that he enjoys the most is quietness of the countryside and the satisfaction of having
been able to fulfill his dream, because it was not easy to achieve it, so he continues to move forward
and encourage the care culture for the field in order to have a sustainable environment and the
people who live far away from the countryside thanks to farmers who work to produce food for
everybody.
"In life I have understood that with dedication, effort and above all loving what I do it is possible to
get ahead and win the support of others who do not believe that you can build something, that
helps us to grow as people and make better decisions for our life and provide a better future to our
children and even more important to prolong the existence of the field as a way to earn money"
Today he is happy in his farm he is grateful to God for allowing him to fulfill his dreams and his
parents for the support that they gave him, he says that he breathes fresh air, sees the best sunsets
that in the city he could not see, he feels the fresh breeze and enjoys his work for which he gets up
early every day happily to work in the field and with the enthusiasm of teaching someone more his
knowledge and seeing that it is possible to manage the ground without need to destroy it with the
use of agrochemical.

THE FIELD BENEFIT

Once upon a time in a village, away from the city, where people live happily and peacefully enjoying
nature and all things that brought them peace of mind peace camp livelihood and welfare.
There two men were dedicated to till their land and care of animals for food and life sustenance,
where men were dedicated to care of them, where children attend school and during their free time
helping their mothers and enjoyed sharing including games and freedom they felt running through
the fields, a territory free from contamination, That a city left with big business machinery and
vehicles that are in it.
That village for its diversity of fauna, flora, abundant water sources, it became attractive for some
entrepreneurs who wanted to acquire land in these places and set up their own businesses, waking
concern and anxiety among the inhabitants of that village as if these entrepreneurs start their own
businesses in this place which would be devastating to them about their small plots their crops and
animals, which contributed them food and sustenance every day, and in addition to this is the only
way they know how to live rather than working the land.
Nor want to see companies on their land, polluting and dumping
chemical waste, contaminating the water environment and
ending nature reserves and tranquility that existed in that village
also nobody wanted to see their grandchildren and following
generations suffering of respiratory diseases caused by the
mismanagement of waste and chemical waste product
companies, so neither wanted to sell their land and give up their
own lifestyle, unlike wanted to further strengthen agriculture
and agricultural production that they have in the village, without
affecting forest wildlife water and their families. They wanted
implementing sustainable agriculture, always friendly
agricultural practices with the environment and form companies
across farmers to market the products in large cities.

A few days later the villagers had a company which marketed the
products in the largest cities of the country contributing to all farm
families with better education and support welfare because all products
were being sold at a very good price in the city, Thus became stronger in
the field demonstrating that you can get good products and great
projects without leaving their lands.

OVERCOMING IN THE FIELD

In the field there are no cars, or illumination systems in the street. Neither buildings nor parks of
amusement are seen, but in the field we see throughout, trees, plants, flowers, creeks of cold water
and many animals. The life in the field is very simple and calm. The people enjoy the nature, of the
pure air and the fruits that the land produces.
There far away from the city but with a great desire of overcoming there lives a very humble and
hard-working family. It is the Gomez family, consisted of Don Pedro, father of three beautiful
children and his wife Ines, they are a family with many desires to succeed. Their only sustenance is
what they can do in the field, because of it, they every day manage them to be able to survive.
Pedro with his older son go out every day early to work on their crops of corn and bean, which
thanks to being crops that do not need of high costs, they can work and extract big benefits for
their maintenance.
Meanwhile Ines, near the house has a garden in which she has sowed all kind of vegetables which
gave them very good results, thus she extracts for home consumption and in addition, she sells the
products to her neighbors and they are desired because they are organic products. Because of that
she did not invest very much. With the income of her garden she contributes for maintenance of the
home and the education for her children.

On her way to the school Pedro is the younger children, he helped his parents to deliver the
orders to their neighbors who besides the products of the garden buy them milk and cheese. This
way they all contribute to the home.
Pedro always plans his crops and sows in such a way that the harvest coincides with the vacations
of his children to be able to get profit of the familiar workforce in this time.
Pedro likes to get benefit of the farm that also has natural resources as river, spring and forests in
which he is implementing good practices of conservation to take care of them.
In the free time the whole family meets together. Every Sunday they dedicate the day to go out,
get up very early to do their tasks, Pedro takes charge of milking the cows while his older son
feeds the calves, meanwhile in the house Ines packs the food and other two children are in
charge of feeding the hens.
With everything ready they start their way to enjoy the nature; their younger children enjoy
collecting blackberries and grapes that he finds in the way. Meanwhile the major son who is very
curious and likes to learn, he picks up any plant or tree that he finds on the way and asks the
name and the uses to his parents. When they arrived to the top of the mountain they sat down to
rest and enjoy the landscape while they eat something to follow their way towards the river
which is sighted from this place. Meanwhile their children ran and shout of happiness of being
able to enjoy the nature.

Family story
sad reality of the planet
Many years ago was found a family who lived in a jungle with very
interesting conditions and characteristics that should be use as role
model worldwide. This family lived in a very special way with nature
since watched and made proper use of it using all its resources in a
way where both obtained mutual benefits. They cultivated gardens
in a natural way without using chemicals and machinery which in
one way or another may eventually cause major environmental
impacts such as erosion, deforestation, and pollution of sources of
healthy water; Admired and cared for the animals, saw them as
some important things to all nature as it is vital interaction between
them, these families instilled in their children the care that should
be paid to nature because this is the main source of life on the
planet managed not to conceive of a world without water, without
trees, without wildlife.
One day a violent storm swept with their house, crops and
domestic animals that made this family had to leave their homes in
the middle of the jungle wondering why if wanted and cared for
both the environment it hit them in this way, moving to another
region realized the reasons why they had lost everything as
observed they were using machinery to a new road and to do his
they decided to cut trees that caused soil erosion which caused the
blockage of the channel and the river dammed after high water
level it overflowed forming an avalanche which unfortunately
passed through his house destroying everything; because of this,
his family started an awareness campaign so all people are made
aware that is not enough that few people care about the
environment instead of , we must do our part to make the planet a
paradise in which formerly inhabited them ...

From that day all the people of that

region are trying to make good use
of nature, learning to cultivate their
gardens under good agricultural
practices and conservation, avoid
water pollution sources and
reforestation.

Charlie and Nature

There was upon a time a boy who lived with
his parents and two sisters in the country far
away from town. He did not like nature, he
cut every plant that he found on the way, and
he also cut the petal of flowers and threw
rubbish into the creeks that crossed through
the path.
Birds could not be in peace either. When Charlie went to school, he
threw some stones to little birds that sang happy on the branches of
trees. He attended school but he did not like to study.
His teacher always told him that everybody had to take care of our
environment, the sources of water, the air, and all living beings but
he always laughed at her.
Trees, flowers, birds, and creeks always got sad every time they saw
Charlie walking by the path.
One day, birds decided to live in a safer place, a beautiful forest near
a wonderful waterfall. Plants, trees, and flowers decided to dry up by
themselves, including the creeks.
Charlie understood that the disaster was because of him. He was
very sorry looking at that destroyed and sad place and promised to
recover it.
He planted all kind of trees everywhere, he picked up the rubbish
and recycled it and learned that earth is only one and if he destroy it,
so where was he going to live?
Time passed away and everything was green again, plants and trees
again, plants and trees grew up, butterflies and birds came back, fish
swam happy in the creeks and everybody lived happy ever since.

History of Gerardos
overcoming

In a village of Caldas on August 15 of

1942 Gerardo was born, a humble child
but encourage on getting ahead, when
he started to grow he was even more
fascinated by the field, when he left
school and came home, he helped his
father with the farm work. He helped
taking care for the animals and harvest

Several years passed and Gerardo could not finish high

school because his father passed away and he had to
assume running the farm and took care of her mother and
two sisters. They spent ten long years and Gerardo was older
and he made his far profitable, save money for 10 years and
hopefully someday would be able to finish his studies.
He began to study, first he needed to finish high school this
lasted four years, when he finished the School, he was 23
years old, and he was motivated to keep studying, he
decided to move to the city, Gerardo let the farm to his sister
and her husband, Gerardos sister husband moved in his
mother and his little sister to the farm; in the city Gerardo
began his studies during the day and in the night he worked
to support his mother and sister.

Years passed and he finished his studies and also in the city
he found the love of his life, he married her, and they had
two children: Martina and William. They returned to the farm
and found everything good, his sister had managed
perfectly; Gerardo as agricultural technologist and his wife
as agronomic Engineer made changes to the farm, they
magnified the coffee crop and triple the coffee bushes that
they had, and became to make the most recognized farm in
his territory, after a long time Gerardo and his wife died and
William and Martina were in charge of the farm, and the
farm has been worked by the family generation after
generation.

The utopia of our field

Once upon a time a beautiful fertile region, people who lived there
spent their days happily between crops. They were fortunate to have
the wealth of their crops and could bring fresh fruits and vegetables
in other regions.
This region was privileged because it was surrounded by a large river,
full of fish and easy navigation, had a large port and marketing was
thriving. To its coasts arrived boats daily and exchanged their
products from the fresh harvest , in which the people had always
been dedicated to fisheries agriculture..
Gradually the local climate was changing and crops were not
abundant. Fruits and vegetables lose their value and its prestige.
Local people began to worry about what was happening and decided
to start fishing as plentiful fish that lived on its shores.
Having no experience in the art of
fishing, except those few that just for
fun sometimes adventured to fish,
they began to indiscriminately catch
the fish of their great river, but
overfishing brought havoc in the
area that was considered the
paradise as its port was staying as
lonely ghost and trade waned,
people went for the city to seek a
better future; that town to be an area
rich in agriculture and fisheries
became a simple village forgotten
like many others of today in this poor
Colombia which at the same time is
beloved, beaten and forgotten.

There is to be noted that this is

happening now, since we live in a
Macondiano country where things
happen and are easily forgotten and
again fell into the same, overcrowding
and neglect leaders have made farmers
migrate to the cities generating a mass
exodus creating chaos in large cities.

PLANTING TO HARVEST
In Nicholas and Samuels vacation they decided to make an apple crop to
earn money and help their parents, it was how responsibilities are
awarded for a beautiful project became a success.
Every day Nicholas got up early to go to irrigate and fertilize their crops,
also he fed the animals, however Samuel got up a little bit later and only
watered his plants and poor animals were starving until he wanted to
feed them.
When Nicolas returned from school, he watered and fertilize the trees, He
took the animals to a green field to feed them; meanwhile Samuel had
fun with his ball.
At school, Samuel proved to be smarter than Nicolas, but Nicolas was
more responsible and always was striving to learn, he did all the
homework and tasks, something that Samuel did not. Samuel believed
that only was needed to be smart to pass the year, however, Nicolas was
not so clever thought that he needed was perseverance, responsibility
and commitment to stand out and be the best course.
Time past by and Nicolas received a gift from her parents for having
outstanding grades, while all this was happening, the crop and farm that
belonged to Samuel were dying for lack of care.

At the end of the year Nicolas got a good harvest and could sell his
animals, he earned good money and distributed it between his parents,
but Samuel was not working enough and he did not get any money.
Then Samuel learned, he should try harder, his brother could get good
results because he was dedicated, persistent and consistent in carrying
out his duties. He thought then look forward his new strawberry crop, to
feed the farm animals every day and perform all the tasks set by his
teachers at school.

FERTILE REGION

Not many years ago in an area, the inhabitants of the town lived happily
thanks to the wealth of their crops, harvest after harvest. They produced
various agricultural products such as its delicious fruits and fresh
vegetables. The time passed by, and started to appear a number of pests
and diseases that deteriorate the production and quality product, which
caused the inhabitants of this region, began to use chemicals to mitigate
these problems.
Due to the high cost of these products , the pollution generated and the
low cost of harvested products , many of these people were leaving the
countryside and move to the cities looking for better opportunities to
help improve their quality of life, creation a crisis in the agricultural
sector in this region.

With the problem that was occurring in this region a group of SENA
trainees of agricultural production area decided to develop a project for
the people of this region, which was to provide advice aimed at how to
leverage the resources of the environment through the implementation
of a GAP system practices and directing productions according to market
demand.
Gradually these people with the help of these trainees returned to their
land and started to applicate all the recommendations and advices that
they received, which started to produce again on their land and
marketed their products with the added value of a
healthier production based on Good Agricultural
Practices. At present most of these people returned to
their farms and the agriculture in this region has grown
significantly, which has helped to improve their quality
of life and people who consume their products too.

WITHOUT A WORD
Once upon a family which lived in the far reaches of a beautiful
municipality of Antioquia, the family consisted of father, mother and a
new baby boy was coming.
The economic base of this family was farming, 3 cows and 2 hens; had a
small plot although she had crops of different varieties.
One morning the man was doing farm work, suddenly hears the voice of
his wife, who said "run the creature will be born"; man was dirty and had
a chemical smell went to help her, he took her to the village health
center where she delivered her baby normally; the doctor came out and
tells the man that his son is a boy, the man gets excited because he can
teach his son many things as a man.
A few days passed by and the child has grown a little, one day the father
took him to the crop, with a little curious as children are; he asked to his
father the name of insects, things affecting plants among other things,
but as the father was a man of little knowledge he could not answer all
his questions so he was easily irritated to the point of stayed in silence;
The morning passed meanwhile they were doing different tasks.
By the afternoon it is time to foliar fertilize the crop, the father began to
take tablespoons of powder to the sprayer which was full of water, he
told to his son to look and start to learn
how to calculate the need amount but
the boy observed and he did not
understand much.
Days later they were walking around the
cultivation and noticed that a few leaves
of the crop were eating by some insects,
they began to detail what kinds of
insects were seen in cultivation and
realize they had ladybugs, flies, beetles
and others, even a frog was in there.

The Father saw so many insects and did not know anything about them,
he decided to go for an insecticide and prepared the mixture, the man
went to the house in search of insecticide, on the way home the man
was on a pasture and nailed a needle which was used to apply the
treatment to one of the cows and irresponsibly was discarded in the soil,
with much pain he took it off and kept going by the chemical and carried
it back to the cultivation; He said to his son without protection to make
the mixture, the son asked him how many scoops should put to the
sprayer and the father told him to put few more, he began to apply
because his father were hurt by the accident that had.
When they finished of doing the work, the mother rang the bell to let
them know the lunch was ready, and after all that had happened they
ran out desperate to eat, when they came a popular "stew" was waiting
for them, without thinking they sat down to eat, was delicious!
(exclaimed) the licked their fingers; with that lunch is nothing more
enjoyable than a good nap, the young man went to sleep in a hammock
that was located in the corridor, he knew that corresponded going to
work with his father at 2 oclock in the afternoon.
It was 2:00 pm, when the father got up and went to woke up the boy,
when he went to move him, he saw the boy did not wake up and around
the mouth had a white foam , when the father saw that broke his heart,
he thought his son would die.

The only thing he could think of at that moment was carried him and
walk 10 minutes, at that distance the nearest road was located, and was
transited by cars, when they got there, one car was passing by the
sidewalk and he was mounted and taken to the health center, there was
diagnosed with food poisoning and was practiced him a stomach wash,
and he was out of danger but the young man would live with
aftereffects.
The doctor already knew several cases like this, They were common! and
decided to notify the health authorities of that, which conducted a study
and charge a penalty to the man for the misuse of waste and
agrochemicals on his farm.
The Man had to pay for the fine and learnt the lesson and his son lost his
voice because used agrochemicals without protection.

The new tractor

There was once on a farm with two old tractors were frightened
by it was whispered that came a new tractor thought to get that
new tractor were going to be put aside.
The next week I get the new tractor with its new large lampposts,
with powerful hydraulic jacks and a super technology, no
qualified to handle the tractor people, parts were scarce, there
were no mechanics to fix there the two tractors quieted that
votes were still being felt, and thought we can also modernize a
little with these new contrasts or implements, well they did
everything to modernize and saw that they could work better
and with more efficiency in their work and the new tractor
owners returned him that no longer a need in the farm.

William the entrepreneur

Once upon a time in a faraway village, lived a young man named William
he was very humble and his family work hard. He was finishing high
school, his dream was to be a great agronomic engineer but
unfortunately he did not have the resources to carry it out. One day
came to his village a man who helped entrepreneurs, He liked Williams
motivations to succeed, and this man told William that he will support
him and paid him the bachelor degree, but with one condition that
William will study during the week and on weekends will help the man in
a coffee farm that he had, William was extremely happy to fulfill his
dreams.
The day to study and became agronomic engineer arrived, He went to
the city and he realized that life was very different which had been in the
countryside, He saw that the products that were harvested in the field of
his father was sold more expensive compare when with the price that
they sold.
Cheered up, he started his studies, began to make one of the most
outstanding students and wise on the class. Years passed by and William
was culminating his career and achieved his graduation with honors. The
man who made it possible to achieve Williams goals was very proud but
unfortunately few days later he passed away, and William inherited all his
properties, he decided to continue helping entrepreneur people with
resources. when he returned to his town, his parents were very proud to
have an agronomic engineer as son, William became more recognized in
the farm of his parents and because of
that the product was well paid, he also
began to help the villagers, so they had a
better quality of life and to his family and
other farms.
And they lived happily ever after.

THE AGRICULTURE AS A WAY TO

GET OVER HANDICAPNESS.
Oliveiro Castillo resident on one small town named Ubaque, dedicated to
work in the farm. He is a handicap man because he suffered hip
osteoarthrosis, that avoid to move normally; he wanted to generate an
organic crop with he could to look after his family and himself.
At that time they were having a difficult situation, their small children
were studied and they had no way of getting their books, also food was
decreasing and Oliveiro despite find a way to get a job , was rejected in
all companies for his disability
Olivero with the help of his family performed a growing vegetables,
legumes, herbs and fruit trees. His main idea was to respect the natural
process of food, so in spite of its limitations Oliveiro decided to study
organic farming and bring all their knowledge to practice in his family
business.
Crop planted around your plants with showy and fragrant to attract
insects and not have to use chemical pesticides flors. Throughout the
process Oliveiro I use only natural fertilizers such as compost and
manure. Olivero today has an organic crop that has the best conditions
and its products are highly marketed nationally and internationally.The
opportunities that other companies denied him the earned on their own
without leaving the place grew and he loves: the field
"Limitations are in the mind, everything is possible with will and
sacrifice".
