Pressure to achieve a good degree.

(The kind of pressure that Final Year Project (FYP) students face)

1.1 Background of the study

Step 1

As long as human named, each than we ever feel depressed or stress experience in
their daily lives. In short, in modern life this challenging, stress is a normal thing in life today.
According to a study conducted found that two out of ten people or one in five residents are
exposed to stress. To make matters worse, many stresses occur among university students.
The study also found that most of the pressure, which happens often faced by final year
students in completing the project within the stipulated time. This is the scenario that will
occur when the title of students at the university where it requires great effort to obtain
excellent results.

Step 2

There are many sources of stress among students of the university. However there is
the main cause of stress i.e. the supervisors not guide totally to student during their Final Year
Project. It is cause, rather supervisors want the students to become independent when they do
FYP. This is a significant contributor to cause students in given the task to make something
work without any guidance. They will feel stressed when not find solutions to solve a
problem when no guidance and guidance given in implementing a project. The stress faced by
students can affect the health of the individual body. The most significant effects are seen,
causing changes to the texture of the skin. When a person's stress, his body will produce more
of the hormone adrenaline, which can cause acne and wrinkles. Stress will also cause the
production of collagen in the body become slow and skin problems are difficult to overcome.

Step 3

Nowadays, as we know that Final Year Project (FYP) students is the most busy
students because they need to completing the report in certain time and add on with their
assignment or other project with their subject taken. A vast number of Final Year Project
(FYP) student has been pressure during completing their final year project report. The
number of pressure third year students in UTHM having increased over the past few years
such that it has become the norm today. Workload that FYP students face also can make them
stress in order to do other activities in their daily life. The guidance from supervisors/lecturer
must be enhanced it to FYP students for keep them joyful with their research and completing
their final year report. Supervisors or lecturers is the most person that makes FYP students
become more pressure and they not be focused on other subject to study in classroom or
outside the classroom. Besides that, supervisors or lecturers must decrease their emphasis to
FYP students for assignment or project in order to completing their final year project report
with the short time.

1.2 Statement of Problem

Nowadays, every third year of the graduate, each third year student has to be
assigned a project which she/he has to work on it and submit it till the end of the
year. During the year, the student has also to submit various products that show the
progress in his/her workings. The report each student has to submit are two (Research
Report and Full Report). What the instructor supervisor) has to do is to assess these
products by completing special

assessment forms regarding each product. Based on

observation, student has lack experience and in sight. They often fail to estimate the time
required to complete their task. They also failed to understand the whole process in
completing the task. They are unable to determine accurately the current status of their
project. Besides that, student may not have time to meet their supervisor. So that, many
of them are often behind schedule without realizing it and cant achieve the goal of FYP.
Normally, during supervision phase, students have to organize meeting with their
supervisor to show their weekly process on the project. Log book is compulsory to
record all meeting between student and supervisor.
Thus, it is difficult to manage students. All students will miss communication in
order to achieve the good product. It is not easy to keep student connected with supervisor.
One of the supervisors tasks in final year project is to track each students progress. One of
the reason students fail firstly is to meet their supervisor because they are busy with
their schedule and their time are limited. In addition, supervisor has one or more
students to manage and hard to supervisor divided time to meet students.

As a result, they cannot do corrections on their works to be submitted and will get
lower marks for their project. Besides that, review process is currently done manually. It

is difficult and requires a long time to find files and information stored. All handle in
manual activities. On evaluation phase also, evaluator will give marks to students based on
their presentation. All marks will recorded in form provided. Once, the form is missing
or damage, the mark will be lost. This process requires a lot of man power and there is also
no privilege on student's information. After recording the marks, all evaluators are
responsible to key in the mark in

excel format and email it to PSM/PTA coordinator.

So that, for maximum effectiveness, the review process needs undergo a formal review by
using computerize system. So with this system, it will help users as it makes the software
project smoother and easier.

1.3 Objectives of study

1.3.1 To investigate the type of pressure that FYP students face

1.3.2 To identify and investigate how FYP students overcome their pressure face.
1.3.3 To identify the implication of FYP students and supervisors.

1.4 Significance of the study

1.4.1 This study will benefit to final year students in order with their relationship with
supervisors/lecturers.
1.4.2 Finding from this study will be beneficial to students who have not taken the
FYP to prepare for the FYP and supervisor.

1.5 Limitation of the study

1.5.1 Number of respondent that we will give questionnaire is about 30person.
1.5.2 Period of time to carry out this study is in less than a month.
1.5.3 Only focus on student FYP and supervisors.
1.6 Methodology

1.6.1 Respondent FYP students:

this study involved FYP students who are studying at UTHM

there are 30 total number of FYP students as are respondents
there are female and male students who been the part of the sample
They are the ones who are the knowledgeable enough to answer the
problems posed in the present study

1.6.2 We used method for data collection (questionnaire)

This attachment questionnaire consists of two parts, namely Part A and Part B.
A is for the respondent demographic information such as name, age and gender. Part B of the
questionnaire containing 6 closed questions to be answered by respondents and can give any
suggestions or improvements based on the research topic. These questions are geared towards
obtaining information from respondents. Have 6 questions each 7 categories. Divided into 7
categories is open-ended, yes/no, scale, multiple choice, checklist, rank, category.
Questionnaires were administered to 3o respondents who are FYP students. We use this
method because. We use this method because many respondents, the short answer, the
questions raised are the same, and can analyze the data statistically
