PRQ LS SERIES
The Pow-R-Quik name has always been synonymous
with excellence in air starting systems. From new and
remanufactured starters to repair kits, original parts and
components, The Pow-R-Quik brand is unequaled in the
industry in terms of performance, reliability and quality.
The Pow-R-Quik line of air and gas starters offers features
and benets that are unique to the industry. All PRQ Vane
starters are lubeless, their vanes are made of a high tech
material that reduces wear and allows operation with or
without lubrication.**
All PRQ LS Series are lubeless.
The PRQ LS-8 Series has over 60 models* available
to t both the domestic and import small engine
markets.

Startmaster Air Starters are now identied as the PRQ SM


Series. This well established product line offers unique
feature that complement the PRQ LS series.
The PRQ SM-250 and SM-251 are available in pre-engaged
and pre-engaged overhung models. They t both Domestic
and European engines and incorporate a built in relay valve
which simplies installations. The positive blade displacement feature eliminates freeze ups by mechanically positioning the rotor blades into the air-stream.
The PRQ SM-500 Series develops 75 hp and 230 ft. lbs. of
torque that will crank diesel engines up to 10,000 cu. in. The
twin air motor design provides high efciency, and the simplicity of design makes for easy servicing.

All PRQ LS-23/24 are available with inertia or preengaged drives.

All SM Series have positive blade displacement feature


built into both motor end plates that forces the rotor
blades in their proper positions to ensure reliable starting.

High-tech vane material.


Reduces wear, allows operation without lubrication.

All SM Series are available for natural gas and includes


gas-tight shaft seals.

Non-corrosive rotor sleeves.


Special coating on aluminum rotor sleeves
on LS-8 Models.
Stainless steel sleeves used on LS-16, LS-23/24,

Rugged Construction.
Rotor and shaft design provide higher torque potential
and longer life than common two pieces designs.

*Note: PRQ LS-8 starters are developed as new engines

**Note: Lubrication is optional on LS Series for
Diesel Engines. For lower pressure starting or cold weather starting it is recommended that you use lubrication. Lubrication is
required on all starters for natural gas engines
and all engines with long crank cycles.

TS-81 Air & Gas Starter for Gas Turbine Engines


Designed for either single or multiple starter use.
Applications include both single and dual shaft stationary gas turbine engines.
Rated for starter cutout speeds of 4200 RPM and 8400
RPM. Special gears may be ordered for most other
starting requirements.
Specied for stationary gas turbine engines with a wide
range of torque and RPM starting requirements.
Designed to tolerate eld conditions that would imbalance higher RPM, turbine type air starters.
Operated with interchangeable gears controlling starter
cutout speed. Eliminates oil lled, planetary gearbox
required with high-speed starters.
Simplied operations Maintenance-free, pre-engagement is standard. Separated drive inserts are interchangeable and may be ordered for most applications.

Designed for high RPM, long-duty cycles and extended


life with proprietary high performance vanes.
Maximum breakaway torque highly efcient, vane
type air motor uses less air ow and provided more
breakaway torque than turbine type starters.
Designed for maximum mounting exibility. Housings
may be independently positions with respect to each
other. Exhaust may be rotated to any one of 12 positions unlike the conventional, single direction starters.
Adapted to inlet and exhaust, SAE split anges are
standard. 1 12 NPT or SAE O Ring Boss threaded
connections may be ordered.
Varied engine mounts MS 3327-8S and AND 20002
Type XII S-mounting provisions are standard. Special
pads may be ordered.

Exclusive Positive Blade Displacement

Conventional air starters rely on differential air pressure to move


the rotor blades out into the air stream. Any dirt or frost on the
blades can cause them to stick in the rotor, preventing the starter
from turning. Every StartMaster starter features a patented eccentric cam built into both motor end plates that forces the rotor
blades into their proper position to ensure reliable starting.
