The 2nd Sunday of Ordianry Time, January 17, 2016

Deacon George Schramm

Todays theme is For the Lord

Delights in You. Two weeks ago
we emphasized the visit of the three
wise men to the infant king. Last
weekend we celebrated the Baptism of our Lord,
another of the three occurrences of the Epiphany
and todays gospel provides us with the third, the
changing of water into wine at the Wedding Feast
at Cana.
In the Gospel of John, where the passage of
the wedding feast is found, Jesus had not yet
performed any miracles. Mary tells Jesus that
there is no wine. Imagine how embarrassed the
grooms family would be. And Jesus responds to
his mother, How does your concern affect me?
My hour has not yet come. Jesus then instructs
them to fill some jugs with water that is used for
Jewish ceremonial washings and turns He it into
fine wine, thus revealing His glory and giving us
our first inkling of who He is.

Todays gospel presents the extraordinary
gente confiaba en la Palabra del Seor. Nuestra
transformation of the world begun at Cana in

"Haced lo que l os diga". Tengan confianza,
people trusted in the Word of the Lord. Our
blessed mother, Mary, instructed the servers, Do confianza, y un poco ms de confianza.
whatever He tells you. Trust, trust, and trust
some more. Trust that God loves us all; God loves individualmente; Dios se deleita en cada uno de
nosotros.
us individually; God delights in each of us.
Our society may have many evils and ills, and
may have seemingly abandoned God, but God is
unchanging, and todays readings tell us that we
dont need to be negative. The miracle at Cana is
an epiphany. The savior of the world has come,
and just as he transformed water into wine, and
wine into His blood, He is transforming our world
into the Kingdom of God. So rejoice, for the Lord
delights in you!
God bless you,
Deacon George

Nuestra sociedad puede tener muchos males y

enfermedades, y aparenta haber abandonado a Dios,
As que
Dicono George

MERCY CHANGES US
Mercy is a word that can change
everything, including the world.
Mercy. Its such a simple word and yet so filled
with meaning and dimension that it can leave us
dumb-founded. But we all know its one of Pope
Francis favorite words, and he says it changes
everything. What would change if we began
thinking of mercy as our guiding principle for
life and faith? What would change if we actually
became mercy for everyone we meet? And what
would change if we began by being merciful with
ourselves?
Ponder: What would a life based in mercy look
like? How will it change me? How will it change
the world?
Pray: Lord, guide me in your way. Open my eyes
to see Your love and mercy, and help me bring
these gifts to others. Amen
