Teaching Philosophy

"Everyday our lives are influenced by many people. Everyday a student is actively making the
choice of who they will become. Teachers, you are teaching not only information but also life
lessons, everyday you have the chance to make a difference in a student's life. If you choose to
make the best of this special gift, you will be doing your part to make the world a better place."

As a professional in the field of Special Education and Child Development, I believe it is

imperative to have a balanced and supportive view on education. I chose to become a
professional in this field because I want to make a difference. I consider myself to have
the power to work with young individuals and the ability to understand their level of
thinking. I believe I have a special connection with people and I know that through the
practice of life-long learning, I will impact the lives of many individuals.

Teaching offers the opportunity to inspire and improve the lives of children in our world.
Choosing a career as an educator and life long learner requires commitment and passion.
My objectives as a teacher are to make sure each student has an equal opportunity to
achievement. I hope to have an impact on a student’s success inside and outside of the
classroom. A teacher’s job is to obtain knowledge, pass it on to students in a variety of
ways, but also to motivate the students to develop the necessary skills for their future life.
I honor the importance of teacher’s recognizing that each child is an individual. Everyone
has different learning styles and its essential to be sensitive and flexible to each
personality.

In order for a child to learn, motivation and encouragement must occur. I want to provide
each child with an environment in the classroom that is safe and comfortable. I will do
this by allowing myself to respect the differences and uniqueness of each human being. I
will continue my education by staying involved in organizations such as NAEYC, and
CEC.

I have learned that a special education teacher has a significant and powerful occupation.
Therefore, as a professional, my expectations of what a teacher should do in the
classroom is to provide an environment that is fun and relaxing, yet still structured and
manageable. This environment can help student achieve their full potential. They will be
more probable to communicate with me. Also, modeling communication and respect will
allow me to get to know each individual’s learning style and modify the curriculum to
their uniqueness.

In choosing to be a teacher, I have made a commitment to my future students, as well as

myself, to be the best educator, mentor, and person that I can be. Having an open mind
will allow me to address the needs to all children through communication and respect. I
made a promise to my future students, paraprofessionals, and most importantly myself, to
be the best teacher I can be. I will continue throughout my life to demonstrate respect,
dedication, and passion to each and every one of my students.
