Working document Configuring the P543 IEC61850 device for Sicam

compatibility.
Inserting AREVA P543 relay into SICAM PAS Configuration
Model Number P54331AA6M0520K
00.06
Step 1. AREVA TOOLS
You will need to download the software from the site below or goto areva website and you should see
a link to the software.
- MICOM S1
MICOM S1 is the needed software to change settings of the P543 relay:
http://www.areva-td.com/scripts/solutions/publigen/content/templates/show.asp?P=1204&L=US

The courier protocol is used via the serial COM port at front side.
If you have issues when inserting a device in MicomS1 you may need to enable the Courier New (True
Type)

You should try to do the following:

1. Start -> Control panel -> Fonts;
2. Then try to find the Courier New (TrueType) font there.
2.1 If its there then double-click on it, close an opened the window.
Make sure that the right P543 ICD file is used for import to project of digsi.
By asking AREVA-TD Contact CENTRE.
Email : contact.centre@areva-td.com
For this relay the file can be exported from the MicomS1 configurator. P543_____52B.ICD
Once you have the correct ICD file
If you are supplied a new file you will need to copy the file into the folder below.
I found various files already in this folder.
Copy the file into this folder C:\Program Files\AREVA T&D\MiCOM S1 Studio\Studio\Templates\P54x
Checking your serial communication
You can use quick connect or insert a device and then insert a new communication
Below settings are default.
I found that you need to retype the password: ABCD

Test the connection.

The cable to use is a strait through cable. I used two crossover cables in series.
To get the P543 ICD file from the Micom S1 software you must open the software and click on Tools/
IEC61850 configurator.
Once configurator is open click on tools/export installed ICD file.

Now select the device template you need. For P543 we used this one below. Must be the Template
filename you copied into the templates folder.

Save the file to your hard drive folder.

Open Digsi.
Create a new project for P543 relay only.

Insert the P543 ICD using the exported ICD as exported above.
Insert your NTP clocks

Then insert a IEC61850 station I called it P543 SCD export.

Righ click the station and goto communicator.

Add the new device . PS: Digsi assigns a unique IED name OTH_0009
Open configurator and assign an IPaddress

Close the configurator.

Right click object properties.
Update all devices.
Now export the SCD file as below. Export it twice and call the one PAS version as you
will need to edit it in notepad.

Goto MicomS1 configuration tool and import the new SCD by click on File Import SCL.

Right click the OTH_xxxx file as above and send to device.

Sometimes this task fails and must be repeated.

Next goto Sicam PAS and import the P543 SCD export file into your IEC61850 project.

In Sicam PAS Conf. you must change the Quality Change setting to No for every
grouplist. In this case there are 99. Also check that Data update is set to No.
Cutout from Pixit manual. For P543
7.2 Trigger conditions
The following report trigger conditions are supported:
Integrity
Data change
General interrogation
All other trigger conditions are not supported and an attempt to enable them will result in a
negative response being returned by the relay.
The supported trigger options are set in the devices IED Capability Description (ICD) file to
define the IEDs reporting capability. This is not to be confused with the actual devices
configuration, which would normally be represented in a Configured IED Description (CID)
file.

Unfortunately one cannot use the digsi tool to create lists so that you can reduce the
datset number. Below is a short cut.
Option Edit the SCD file that you called PAS version with notepad as below this will set
this setting in the import file to speed up the process.

Change this from Dyn to Fix.

Now import the scd into Sicam PAS.
You will get warning that TrgOps are not set. Ignore this
After the import you will now need to click on the device P543 and goto the Report
settings TrgOps writable and change this to Yes.
You will then note the the Quality Change setting is No in every list.

Update your system and the device will come online.
