TASKS
Understanding the hardware and software used in contemporary music making:
You must explain the architecture of a DAW, and explain music sequencing and
available sound sources. Your guidebook must also explain the fundamental
processes and components of studio recording, whilst evaluating the planning and
production process of a studio session.
Creating and controlling MIDI sequences:
On your chosen DAW create a sound palette of a variety of synthesisers and
samplers, then edit a variety of MIDI sequences, demonstrate real-time control and
effective computer skills in the creation of sequenced music.
Recording Practices:
You must create a variety of recordings that show your ability to record both individual
performers and ensembles. You must also create some music that is suitable for
sampling. You must also be able to demonstrate editing, mixing and mastering
recorded audio.
Creating Music:
You must create a professional sounding composition that uses both MIDI and audio.
The composition must display competent musical and production techniques. You
must create a notated score of this recording.
