The cabinets and drawers are enough for the materials like the CVC

Observe the behavior of your students at work and at play. Prepare
notes regarding the following:
1. Physical Arrangement of the Classroom
Observe the seating arrangement, location of instructional materials,
use of bulletin boards, use of learning areas, kinds of facilities, and
ways to make the room appealing and stimulating to learning.

The room should be appealing if there were more space and

maybe itll be better if it is lighter. The bulletins look too
crowded although the pictures or the contents of the bulletin are
fine. If the background can be changed into plain light colors, it
can be so much better. My over all suggestion in the physical
arrangement of the classroom is to have a wider space.

2. Routine Activities
Observe the children at the beginning of the day, upon arrival, their
attendance, in their sharing time, in distribution and collection of
materials, at dismissal, and in all other student activities and
responsibilities.

Since we are following the blocks of time, we really have a

classroom routine. It is aligned to the NKCG 2011. When I arrived
in this classroom, I observed that they dont follow the whole
routine according to the NKCG2011. Their attendance is fine. In
the distribution of materials, they have a portfolio and an
envelope where in the teacher organizes their worksheets and
their art activities through those and is kept in a box so the
materials are really organized. Regarding the dismissal, since
preschoolers are naturally hyper, they often go out of the
classroom as soon as they finish the prayer. Sometimes, they
forget to say goodbye to the teacher. But there are also times
when the children are quite behave. They form their lines
properly. The morning class is being brought to the gate every
morning. But when it is raining, their parents or guardians come
to the classroom to pick their children.

3. Transition
Observe them at the start of the first lesson, from one lesson to
another, from an active experience to a quiet one, from large to small
group interaction, from classroom to recess and back to the classroom,
to and from special subjects such as physical education and
movements of groups within a class.

The transition of the activities inside the classroom is quite

impressing, simple yet effective. With just the use of songs and
at times with just napping, the childrens attention is easily
directed from one activity to the other. Once they start to sing,
they already know that they will start another lesson or that
they have to pay attention after the song.

Observe your cooperating teacher during the demonstration lesson

describing each of the following briefly:
1. How were the learners motivated?

The teachers motivation are songs, stories or through questions.

The children truly enjoy the lesson when they are motivated by
stories related to the lesson.

2. How was the subject matter presented?

As what Ive said, often the subject matter are presented by stories
and motivating questions.

3. How were the pupils/students responses taken?

When the answers of the children are correct, they are affirmed.
When they are wrong, the teacher asks for the answer of other
pupils. When the children answer in chorus, the teacher tells them
to raise their hand before answering. When their hands are properly
raised, that is when she starts calling for answers.

4. How was the lesson conducted?

buce-experiential learning office

WORKSHEETS

The lesson is conducted depending on the topic to be discussed.

The teacher uses developmentally appropriate lessons. More often,
she conducts a lesson using real experiences like in plants, she
made the children bring seeds and then she let them plant the
seeds and observe the planted seeds until they grew. Lessons are
often conducted through art activities in which children learn from
what they do.

5. How was the discipline instilled in the learners?

The teacher often uses oral discipline like reprimanding but still in a
nice child friendly way.

6. How were the teaching devices used?

Teacher never fails to use appropriate materials like printed pictures

and drawings when teacher. Her teaching devices are arranged in a
box with labels of what lessons and then put in the shelves so it is
really accessible.

7. How were individual differences taken care of?

Teacher Carla understands her pupils without a doubt. There were

instances, according to her, where the parents of the children thinks
that their child is somewhat a special child, but since teacher Carla
knows her pupils, she insisted that no, they are normal. Its just that
they need attention and a lot of understanding.

8. How were unforeseen circumstances handled?

Unforeseen circumstances were handled calmly. I never saw teacher

get stressed over these kinds of events. She always deals with
situations with a clear mind and she never panics.

WORKSHEETS

9. How were dull periods coped with?

The teacher gives motivations during dull periods. Often, she lets
the class sing a song, recite a poem or dance through a music.

10.

How were the learners performance evaluated?

Teacher Carlas evaluations are often with the use of worksheets.

Theres always a worksheet for each lesson. If not, she lets the
children make an artwork about the lesson. Often teacher Carla
makes the pupils copy the lesson in the childs notebook so they
can study the lesson at home and at the same time teacher Carla
practices their fine motor coordination.

Observe the daily tasks and responsibilities of your cooperating
teacher as well as the behavior of his/her students. Take note of the
following:
1. Checking of attendance

The checking of attendance is daily, and according to teacher Carla,

she checks the attendance after class so that she is sure to check
everyone whos around. If she checks the attendance at 7:30 am
(morning class) or 1:00pm (afternoon class) surely there will be a lot
of absences because of the late comers who come almost 15
minutes after the start of each class.

2. Distributing and collecting materials

The distributing and collecting of materials is always through folders

or envelopes so there are no doubt that the materials are organized.

3. Preparing the lessons

The teachers materials are already prepared beforehand so when

she teaches, theres no need for her to rush in preparing for her
lessons.

4. Caring for instructional materials

The teacher always keeps her instructional materials in a box with a

label. For example, the CVCs pictures are already prepared in a box
arranged in a plastic depending on what family whether its short /a/,
/e/, /i/, /o/, or /u/ sounds.

5. Entering and leaving the classroom

When the child comes to enter the class, they are supposed to be
brought by their parents or guardians but just up to the door. But that
is not being observed since the parents come inside the classroom
even if its already time. Thankfully, once the teacher is in front,
ready to begin the class, the parents go out of the room before the
prayer starts.

7. Using equipment and tools

Teacher often use a speaker when teaching songs or for motivation.

8. Maintaining cleanliness

and

Every Saturday, teacher Carla lets someone clean the room (floor
wax the floor etc.) The daily cleaning is done by the both of us.
Teacher Carla is very particular with her garden outside the
classroom; she always takes care of her plants in the morning or
sometimes in the afternoon as long as she has time.

Observe classroom instructions.
A. FOCUS ON TEACHER STUDENT INTERACTION
1. Describe the use of voice and nonverbal communications of your
cooperating teacher (facial expressions and body gestures) in
interacting with students.

Teacher Carla is strict inside the classroom so her voice and her
nonverbal communication in interacting with the pupils are also in
a strict way. But she also smiles and I think when she does, the
pupils of Kinder-Periwinkle are glad and they also become cheerful.

2. How did the teacher handle individual differences in a) learning

attitude and b) time management?
3. What types of questions were asked by the teacher?
4. What types of responses were made by the students?
5. How did the teacher react to lose answers of students to the
