iTower CWP

Optimisation of Airport infrastructure operations

aligned with SESAR concept and architecture
A-SMGCS level I & II
iTower is a Level I & II A-SMGCS system,
implemented according to the ICAO
DOC9830 and Eurocontrol Functional
Specification for A-SMGCS Implementation
Level I & II and Operational Concept &
Requirements for A-SMGCS Implementation
Level I & II specifications.
The implementation of A-SMGCS will be
evolutionary through the development
of several implementation levels forming
a coherent series of increasing system
complexity:

Surveillance
Level I: Provides surveillance, display
systems and procedures (identification,
issuance of ATC instructions & clearances)
to permit comprehensive ATCO situation
awareness.
Level ll: Consists of Level I functions
together with automated monitoring and
alerting functions (runway, restricted
& closed areas), initially including the
prediction of conflicts on active runways or
incursions into restricted areas.
A-SMGCS will improve airport operations
in all climatological conditions, especially
in those that involve Low Visibility
Conditions.

iTower utilizes multiple surveillance

sources such as Secondary Surveillance
Radars (SSR), Primary Surveillance
Radars (PSR), Surface Movement Radars
(SMR), Multilateration (MLAT), Automatic
Dependent Surveillance- Broadcast
(ADS-B) and an advanced multi-sensor
data fusion to provide a comprehensive
surveillance of the airport surface.
The multi-sensor data fusion is essential
for the A-SMGCS system to ensure that
the system is free from false position
reports, guaranteeing that the generated
alerts are real.

The CWP has been developed in

consultation with ATCOs and integrates
all the information and functionalities

The new technologies allow iTower system

to manage a tower from servers located
in a different dependency and manage
many towers with the same servers. With
this solution, it is not necessary to have
the servers in the tower dependencies and
several servers for each tower; several servers
can provide information to many towers.
