Established in 1936, first service commenced between Baldonnel Airfield in Bristol and Bristol Airport
with six-seater De Havilland Dragon. Moved operations to new Dublin airport in January 1940, although
services halted during World War 2, with regular services resuming with new route to London in
November 1945.

1946: Obtained exclusive UK traffic rights from Ireland by way of 40% holding with BOAC and BEA.

1958: Aerlnte ireann (transatlantic brand of Aer Lingus) operated first service from Shannon to New
York.

1960: Arrival of first jet aircraft in to fleet. (3 x Boeing 720 commercial jets). Took delivery of two Boeing
747 commercial jets in March 1971, for use on transatlantic routes.

2nd airline in Europe to introduce female pilots, with first female pilot recruited in 1977.

Aer Lingus Commuter, a fully owned subsidiary, created in 1984 with five Short 360 aircraft.

First Airbus aircraft delivered in 1998.

February 2001: Aer Lingus Commuter merged in to mainline operation, all operations suffered from
September 11th attacks, airline subsequently cut fleet and staff, returning to profitability.

Withdrew last Boeing aircraft from fleet in October 2005. Total all-airbus fleet from this point onwards.

October 2005: Also saw announcement of first service to Asia, to Dubai Int. Airport in UAE.

June 2007: Ordered six Airbus A350 and six A330 aircraft. Deliveries of Airbus A350 commenced in July
2015.

Floated on London Stock Exchange and Irish Stock Exchange in October 2006. Irish government
maintained 28% shareholding at time of floatation.

Oneworld Alliance: Airline originally in alliance, withdrew in March 2007 and entered in to numerous
bilateral agreements with various full-service airlines.

Ryanair Take-Over Bid: Airline bought 16% stake in Aer Lingus and offered 2.80 for remaining shares,
raised stake to 19.2% in October 2006. On November 2006, Ryanair stake climbed to 26.2%. European
Commission blocked bid in 2007, and blocked a subsequent third attempt in 2013 citing that merger
would damage consumer choice and result in increased fares.

August 2007: Established first base outside of Rep. of Ireland, at Belfast Int. Airport in Northern Ireland.

Global Financial Crisis: Losses of 22 million in first half of 2008. Airline had accumulated losses of 93
million by June 2009. Resulted in loss of 676 jobs.

Gatwick Base: Opened in December 2008. At its peak, operated five Airbus aircraft but as of 2011, only
one aircraft based here.

Airline operates North American offices in Melville, Long Island.

July 2012: Moved operations from Belfast Int. Airport to George Best Belfast City Airport.

Christopher Mueller appointed as CEO in 2009. Replaced by Stephen Kavanagh in March 2015.

December 2014: IAG launched take-over bid for airline in December 2014, Aer Lingus board accepted
third offer at 2.55 per share in late January 2015. Irish Govt sold 25% shareholding to IAG on May 2015.
Ryanair sold 30% shareholding in July 2015. IAG assumed control of Aer Lingus in September 2015 with
98.05% shareholding.

Reported net losses of 95 million in 2014 financial year, with 9.8 million passengers and 79% load
factor.

April 2015: Official airline of the Irish Rugby Team.

Aer Lingus Regional: Franchise Agreement with Stobart Air (formally known as Aer Arran).

Aer Lingus Cargo: Uses reserved areas of passenger aircraft cargo holds to transport goods Offered on
most European routes.
