Lesson Plan
Teachers name: Angela Johanna Murillo Date: October the 4 th Session No. 9
Group: Beginners 3
1. Goals of the 4 hour-session: To make students know and discuss
about different processes of movie-making as well as important characters
and elements that help out this process to complete.
2. Materials for the session: CD from the Read and think! Book, Read and
Think! Book, materials brought by the ss.
3. Procedure:
Warm up:
Objective: To make ss memory get in practice with some vocabulary used daily.
A category will be chosen (in this case can be Names, to get practice), and ss
will have to create a sequence by saying words realted to the category, and the
fllowing students will mention another word which first letter will be the last of
the word said by the students before.
Materials and equipment: None, just ss memory :P .
Time: 10 minutes approximately
Task 1: To practice the general idea of a text read
Objective: To make ss be aware of some famous movie directors, such as
Cahrles Chaplin. Also, to make ss think to everything as a process to make or
develop ideas or projects in a correct way.
Materials and equipment: The Read and Think! book.
Time: 30-40minutes
Step /stage 1: Students will be asked to mention any movie director they know.
A list of names will be written on the board. Then, ss will have to say movies of
the directors mentioned, and will give a short opinion about it.
Step 2/ stage 2: Ss will be asked to listen to a text read by the teacher. And
they will take note of what is said. They can write words, short sentences or
important names or places read. It will be read twice. After the reading is done,
ss will have to mention some ideas they understood from the reading, as well
as words.

These sentences or words will be written on the board and given to a group of
three students, to make a representation of it.
Step/stage 3: Ss will be asked to read the text mentally, and the each student
will be assigned a sentence to read aloud. Also some comprehension questions
will be asked to be written on the notebook.
** There will be a Break activity of about 13- 16 minutes, in which the
course will be divided in 4 groups, and will have a contest about
guessing the word. One member of each group will go to the front and
make some mimics of a word said. Each group will have an amount of
time to guess the word. If not, other groups can guess the word.
Task 2: To learn some special effects used in old and current movies
through a reading.
Objective: To make students mention and discuss positive features of some
movies, especially the ones they like the most.
Time: 48-60 minutes
Step /stage 1: Ss will be asked to think about the way movies are made and all
the people that is needed to make a movie. Ss will propose several options,
which will be written on the board. Then the way staff of movies is composed
will be decided by students, and they will have to give reasons why is that the
correct pattern of staff.
Step 2/ stage 2: After students discussion, The teacher will show the proposed
chart of organization of movies` staff, and ss will have to guess the meaning of
each of the profesionals in it.
Teacher will explain that these people try to do new things for movies, e.g.
special effects. The CD of the book will be played, and ss will have to listen to
it twice. At the third moment, students will have to repeat sentence by
sentence after the CD.
Step/stage 3: Ss will have to mention words they understood from the
listening, and they will be written on the board. After the words are collected,
these will be divided in 3 groups. Ss will be divided in 3 groups as well; each
group will have to make 5 sentences with the words and 2 of them will be
represented in a way of a dramatization. Each one of the roleplays will lats
about 1 or 2 minutes.
Step/stage 4: The reading will be read aloud. Each student will have to read a
sentence of the reading, and the pronunciation correction will be made at the
end of the text, to which ss will have to repeat. Some unknown words will be
explained by the teacher. Ss wont use dictionary.
** There will be a break activity, in which students will Play stop with
some categories given, Each time a person finishes a word, changes

his/her sit. The first one to finish will go next to the teacher and say
STOP.
Task 3: To aply what was understood through a variety of activities.
Objective: To analyse the text read through written activities.
Time: 48-60 minutes
Step /stage 1: After the text has been read aloud, ss will be asked to analyse
the text in a way of a chart, in which the students will include information such
as main characters, important facts and elements, characteristics of the main
character. After some of unkown words mentioned by students are explained
and exemplified, ss will be asked to complete some exercises of reading
comprehension as welll as didactic questions about the reading.
Step 2/ stage 2: Students will be in groups of 3 to 4 people, and will choose a
scene of a movie. They will have to roleplay the scene and their partners will
have to guess which is the movie they are representing.
