Commentator: Lord, You are the light symbolized by

these lighted candles. Grant them, as Karl and Jane
continuously go through life. May they never lose sight
of You. Draw them closer to You and to each other. May
their lives reflect Your love and goodness to the world.
1

And God saw that the light was good and so He

separated light from darkness. Then God said, Let us
make man in our image and he shall have dominion over
all the earth. Therefore, God made man into His own
image and from him was the woman. For this reason, a
man shall leave his father and mother and be united with
his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.

Commentator: This is the message that we have heard

from the beginning of time.
God designed every creature not to be alone; beast
in the fields, the fishes in the sea, and most of all, He
said, It is not good for a man to be alone, and it is
because of His divine agenda for humanity that we are
here to serve as witness of the unfolding of this plan for
His children. Therefore, it shall be heard this day, the
voice of gladness; the voice of those who sing and joy of
those who join in the celebration with joy and
thanksgiving.

And the Lord said, It is not good
for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for
him. And the rib which the Lord had taken from the
man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Then the man said, This is now bone of my bone and
flesh of my flesh; She shall be called woman.

Entrance of the Bride

INTRODUCTORY REMARKS/ADDRESS TO
THE CONGREGATION BY THE OFFICIATING MINISTER
Pastor: Brethren, we are assembled here in the
presence of God, and in the sight of these witnesses, to
unite this man and this woman in Holy Matrimony.
The Bible teaches that marriage is to be permanent
relationship of one man and one woman, freely and
totally committed to each other as companions for life.
Our dear Lord and Savior Jesus Christ declare that man
shall leave his father and mother and unite with his wife
in the building of a home, and the two shall become one
flesh.
Marriage , therefore, is not by any to be entered into
unadvisedly or lightly, but reverently, discreetly,
advisedly, soberly, and in the fear of God.
Into this holy estate, these two person present,
come now to be joined. If any man can show just cause,
why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him
now speak, or else hereafter forever hold his peace.
There being none, the wedding ceremony shall
proceed.

MINISTERIAL CHARGE
I now charge both of you, as you stand in the
presence of God, to remember that true love and the
faithful observance of your marriage vows are required
as the foundation of a successful marriage and the
establishment of a happy and enduring home. Without
these, there can be no real marriage and the home which
you will endeavor to establish will be a vain effort. Keep
the solemn vows you are about to make. Live with
tender consideration for each other. Conduct your lives
in honesty and truth, and your marriage will last and your
home will endure. The marriage bond will be a blessing
to you, and you will be a blessing to others. This should
be remembered as you now declare your desire to be
wed.

EXCHANGE OF VOWS
Pastor:
You, Karl Duane and Devie Jane; Having
come to me signifying your desire to be lawfully joined
together in Holy Matrimony, and being assured that no
legal, moral, or religious barriers hinder this proper
union, I request you both to face each other and join
your hands and give heed to the questions now I ask
you.
Pastor to groom:
Karl, do you take Jane to be your
lawful wedded wife? Do you commit yourself to her
happiness and her self-fulfillment as a person; and to her
usefulness in Gods kingdom as you both shall live?
Groom: I do, with the help of God.
Pastor to bride: Jane, do you take Karl to be your lawful
wedded husband? Do you commit yourself to her
happiness and her self-fulfillment as a person; and to her
usefulness in Gods kingdom as you both shall live?
Bride:

I do, with the help of God.

Pastor: Are you resolved to carry out your

responsibility to the Christian faith and the community
7

who hopes that you will care for the children, whom our
Almighty Creator will bless you and that you will rear
them in the faith to be able them, by the grace of God to
come join in the knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior and to become a law abiding citizen?
Groom and Bride:

Yes we are, by the Grace of God.

BLESSING AND GIVING OF THE BIBLE

(B & G FIRST KNEELING)
Pastor:
The Holy Bible is the final, inerrant, infallible
authority being the Word of God. When it speaks, it is to
be obeyed for it contains all that is necessary for man
and woman to know about their eternal destiny. It is all
sufficient rules of faith and practices. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Pastor:
Do you both promise that the Holy Bible will
be the lamp and the light of the home that you are going
to establish?
Groom and Bride:

We do, by the grace of God.

Pastor:
(Giving the Bible) Karl and Jane, accept the
living Word of God. May Gods Word constantly
permeate your endeavor for the rest of your married life.
Groom and Bride:
We accept Gods Word with all
humility and with a fervent prayer that God will reign in
our marriage, in the family we will raise together, in the
home, we will build together.

Pastor:
(Groom and Bride hands over the Bible)
Heavenly Father, bless Karl and Jane to be true
believers and adherents to Your Holy Word; the only all
sufficient manual for them to find grace, peace, joy and
productive, meaningful Christian life. This I pray, In the
most precious name of Jesus, Amen.
RING CEREMONY
Pastor:
The ring is a material symbol that has been
designed to illustrate spiritual truth.
A ring has two characteristics which make it
suitable as reminders to us of the importance of keeping
Christ in our marriage.
First, the ring is a circle. Circle never ends.
Christian marriages should never end. They should last
and last and last. Difficult times will come but their
marriage goes on forever. The ring which is a circle is a
reminder of that never ending commitment.
Second, ring is made out of precious metal,
usually silver or gold, which has the unusual quality of
getting better and more valuable of age. Instead of
wearing out and deteriorating, we pray for your love to
10

grow and improve with age. This is the ring without end.
(Ephesians 5:31)
Pastor:
Bless Oh Lord, these rings so that Karl and
Jane, who would wear it may be reminded always of
Christ s supreme love to his bride, that they may ever
live in mutual love and unbroken loyalty, through Christ
our Lord, Amen.
Groom:
Jane, wear this ring as a sign of myself to
you, in love and loyalty, all the days of my life. Let this be
the symbol of our commitment, of our love to God, the
church, and the community. In the name of Father, of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen!
Bride:
Karl, I accept the ring of love. Wear this
ring as a sign of myself to you, in love and loyalty, all the
days of my life. Let this be the symbol of our
commitment, of our love to God, the church, and the
community. In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of
the Holy Spirit, Amen!

11

THE COIN/ARRHAE CEREMONY

Pastor:
The coin/arrhae symbolizes treasure or
wealth. The Lord God is the source of everything you
need. He is the great provider. Trust Him at all times. Be
content with what you have and be a good steward of
Gods material blessings. The Lord has admonished us
that the love of money is the root of all evil. 1 TIMOTHY
6:10

Pastor :
Bless Oh Lord our God, Karl and Jane with
material possessions which this coin symbolizes to meet
their daily needs and other necessities in life that may
arise as they build a home for their family. In the name
of Jesus we pray, Amen!
Groom:
Jane, I give this coin as a pledge of my
dedication to your welfare and the welfare of our
children. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Spirit, Amen!
Bride:
Karl, I accept this coin and I promise to be
your partner in the rightful use and disposition, and
stewardship of all material blessings God shall grant us in
our life together. In the name of the Father, and of the
Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen!
12

VEIL AND CORD CEREMONY

(Groom and Bride Kneeling)
Pastor:
Karl and Jane, the veil is the symbol of
purity of the married life to which, God in His providence
has called you. As this veil set to cover you both, the
witnesses assure that you coming together today is the
fruit of your purest intentions. Through the passing
years, let this veil be a reminder that you belong to each
other and no one else, and that the love you have for
each other becomes beautiful in self-surrender that is
total and pure. It is also used to remind you of the
admonition that you both should be faithful to each
other till death separates you.
The Veil Sponsors will now put on the veil to the B & G
Pastor:
Karl and Jane, you will now be bound with
the cord, a symbol of Gods love which binds your whole
being together. From this day on whether far or near,
you are one till death. This also reminds us that love is
the perfect bond of oneness and love only comes from
God. The pledge of your love and commitment before
this altar bound you into one.
The Cord Sponsors will now put the Cord to the B & G

Pastor:
Culturally, Karl and Jane have chosen you to
be their Ninongs and Ninangs. In reality, however, you
are standing behind the couple as second parents to
them. The degree of your responsibility as parents, may
not be as intense as the responsibility of their biological
parents, but knowing that you are still their counselor or
adviser and encourager, you are expected to stand
behind them in times of needs, in times of crisis, and in
times of joy, like this moment of joyful and memorable
celebration. Are you therefore pledging before God and
this congregation that you will not fail them in these
responsibilities.

PASTORS DECLARATION OF MARRIAGE

Karl and Jane, you have declared your vows to this
congregation. May you always keep your vows close to
your heart. I, together with your parents and families,
sponsors and friends here today pray, that our Lord Jesus
honoring marriage by His presence, strengthen your
vows and fills you with His blessings.
Since you have committed yourselves to a lifelong love,
before God and these witnesses, and since you have
agreed to meet the needs of each other as long as you
both live, and you have made your intentions publicly.
Acting in the authority vested in me by God through His
Church and in accordance with the Law of the Republic of
the Philippines, I now declare Karl Duane A. Casurra and
Devie Jane S. Valiente, as husband and wife. In the name
15

of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Amen!
LIGHTING OF THE UNITY CANDLE
Pastor:
Karl and Jane, (will now light the unity
candle) have chosen to light the Unity Candle together.
The two sides represent their individual lives. The larger
center candle symbolizes their joining together as one in
marriage. As you symbolize your union by the lighting of
this candle, remember these words of Jesus, I am the
light of the world, whoever follows me will never walk in
darkness but will have the light of life. May Christ light
ever burn brightly in your lives , giving you comfort and
guidance along the way.
THE PASTOR WILL DECLARE MATTHEW 19:6
PASTOR TO COUPLE:
Karl and Jane, you are no
longer two independent person but one.
What
therefore, God has joined together, let no man put
asunder.
