General Instructions:
(i) All questions are compulsory.
(ii) The question paper consists of 28 questions divided into four sections A, B, C, D.
(iii) Section A contains 4 questions of 1 mark each, Section B contains 6 questions of 2
marks each, Section C contains 8 questions of 3 marks each, and Section D contains 10
questions of 4 marks each.

SECTION A
(Question numbers 1 to 4 carry 1 mark each)
Q. 1. Find the co-ordinates of the points where the graph of the linear equation 2x + 3y = 12
cuts the x-axis and the y-axis?
Q. 2. A coin is tossed 1000 times, if the probability of getting a tail is 3/8, how many times
head is obtained?
Q. 3. Find the median of the following data:
14, 25, 14, 28, 18, 17, 18, 14, 23, 22, 14, 18
Q. 4. If the length of a chord of a circle is 16 cm and is at a distance of 15 cm from the centre
of the circle, then find the radius of the circle.
SECTION B
(Question numbers 5 to 10 carry 2 marks each)
Q. 5. A bag contains 30 coins and each coin is marked from 1 to 30. One coin is picked at
random. What is the probability that
(i) The number on the coin is divisible by 3 or 5
(ii) The number on the coin is not a prime number?
Q. 6. In Fig., O is the centre of the circle, BD = OD and CD AB. Find CAB.

Q. 7. Find the volume of a sphere whose surface area is 154 square cm.

observations is 32 and that of the last 13 observations is 40, find the 13th observation.

Q. 11. Construct a triangle ABC in which BC = 5 cm, B = 60 and AC + AB = 7.5 cm.
Q. 12. Show that the line drawn through the mid-point of one side of a triangle, parallel to
another side bisects the third side.
Q. 13. E is the mid-point of a median AD of ABC and BE is produced to meet AC at F.
Show that AF = 1/3 AC.
Q. 14. The floor of a rectangular hall has a perimeter 250 m. If the cost of painting the four
walls at the rate of Rs. 10 per m2 is Rs. 15000, find the height of the hall.
Q. 15. P is the mid-point of side BC of a parallelogram ABCD such that BAP = DAP.
Prove that AD = 2CD.
Q. 16. XY is a line parallel to side BC of a triangle ABC. If BE || AC and CF || AB meet XY
at E and F respectively, show that ar (ABE) = ar (ACF).
Q. 17. ABCD is a trapezium with AB || DC. A line parallel to AC intersects AB at X and BC
at Y. Prove that ar (ADX) = ar (ACY).
Q. 18. Form a deck of 52 playing cards, if a card is picked up at random then what is the
probability getting
(i) a red card
(ii) a red card or king
(iii) a red card and king
(iv) a red card or black card

(Question numbers 19 to 28 carry 4 marks each)
Q. 19. Ravish tells his daughter Aarushi, seven years ago, I was seven times as old as you
were then. Also, three years from now, I shall be three times as old as you will be. If present
ages of Aarushi and Ravish are x and y respectively, represent this situation algebraically as
well as graphically.
Q. 20. Diagonals AC and BD of quadrilateral ABCD
intersect at O such that OB = OD. If AB = CD, then
show that:
(i) ar (DOC) = ar (AOB)
(ii) ar (DCB) = ar (ACB)
(iii) DA || CB or ABCD is a parallelogram.
Q. 21. ABCD is square. E, F, G and H are points on AB, BC, CD and DA respectively, such
that AE = BF = CG = DH. Prove that EFGH is a square.
Q. 22. Water flows out through a circular pipe whose internal diameter is 2 cm at the rate of
6 meters per second into a cylindrical tank. The radius of whose base is 60 cm. Find the rise
in the level of the water in 30 minutes.
Q. 23. Construct an equilateral triangle if its altitude is 3.2 cm.

Q. 25. Prove that the sum of the angles in the four segments exterior to a cyclic quadrilateral
is equal to 6 right angles.
Q. 26. Hameed has built a cubical water tank with lid for his house, with each outer edge 1.5
m long. He gets the outer surface of the tank excluding the base, covered with square tiles of
side 25 cm. Find how much he would spend for the tiles, if the cost of the tiles is Rs. 360 per
dozen.
Q. 27. Metal spheres, each of radius 2 cm, are packed into a rectangular box of internal
dimensions 16 cm 8 cm 8 cm. When 16 spheres are packed the box is filled with
preservative liquid. Find the volume of this liquid. Give your answer to the nearest integer.

digit is 121. If units and tens digit of the number are x and y respectively, then write the
linear equation representing the above statement.

Q. 5. A bag contains 4 white balls and some red balls. If the probability of drawing a white
ball from the bag is 2/5, find the number of red balls in the bag.
Q. 6. A conical pit of top diameter 3.5 m is 12 m deep. What is its capacity in kiloliters?
Q. 7. Give the equation of two lines passing through (2, 14) which are parallel to x-axis and
y-axis respectively. Also represent it graphically.
Q. 8. In a ABC, D, E and F are, respectively, the mid points of BC, CA and AB. If the
lengths of side AB, BC and CA are 7 cm, 8 cm and 9 cm, respectively, find the perimeter of
DEF.

Q. 9. A chord of a circle is equal to the radius of the circle. Find the angle subtended by the

Q. 11. ABC is an isosceles triangle in which AB = AC.
AD bisects exterior angle PAC and CD || AB. Show that
(i) DAC = BCA and
(ii) ABCD is a parallelogram.

Q. 12. Twenty seven solid iron spheres, each of radius r and surface area S are melted to
form a sphere with surface area S. Find the
(i) radius r of the new sphere, (ii) ratio of S and S.
Q. 13. There are two cones. The curved surface area of one is twice that of other. The slant
height of the later is twice that of the former. Find the ratio of their radii.
Q. 14. Construct a right angled triangle whose perimeter is equal to 10 cm and one acute
angle equal to 60o.
Q. 15. Prove that the quadrilateral formed (if possible) by the internal angle bisectors of any
quadrilateral is cyclic.
Q. 16. In ABC, D is the mid-point of AB and P is
any point on BC. If CQ || PD meets AB in Q, then
prove that ar (BPQ) = ar (ABC).
