CALCULATION
PROCEDURE
Revision : 00
Page : 1 of 11
1 Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is to give the guideline to develop the load list calculation procedure in order
to define the requirements for the electrical system design, equipment and materials procurement and
electrical installation for the project.
2 Application
This procedure is used as the first step to develop the basic studies and to regroup the different load of facility
in order to have an idea about the need for power project. In combination with the one line diagram, it
provides data for the plant electrical system and, based on cables routings, permits the execution of cables list
and take offs.
3 Key Words

1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this document is to give the guideline to develop the load list calculation procedure in
order to define the requirements for the electrical system design, equipment and materials procurement
and electrical installation for the project.
2. DEFINITION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
This procedure represents a technical document that will be developed using a standardized format.
Indeed, the status of this document is a milestone in the overall planning for managing the progress of
work according to the information available at that time.
3. PURPOSE OF PROCEDURE
This procedure is the first step to develop the basic studies and to regroup the different load of facility in
order to have an idea about the need for power project. This procedure with the one line diagram
provides data for the plant electrical system and, based on cables routings, permit the execution of cables
list and take offs.
4. INTERFACES
The plant electric load list is normally updated at each issue of the equipment list and One Line diagram
documents; therefore the criteria valid for these documents for project phases and issues scopes apply to
the electric load list.
The development of a load list calculation will be possible after data collection and know in detail the
operating conditions of the electrical facilities.
5. FORM OF PROCEDURE
5.1 Scope
The purpose of this document is to establish a load list that determines the electrical installation meeting
the requirements of the industrial process to lower cost of investment, operation and failure. The design
tends to the determination of active and reactive power per unit to install and the total power of the
installation.
5.2 Codes And Standards
The establishment of the procedure shall be in accordance with the latest editions and supplements of the
relevant standards.

The development of a calculation of the power budget will be set up after collection of the following
data:
PID of the turbo alternator. (If it exists in the facilities).
List of electrical consumers of the lot by including consumers auxiliary turbo alternator.
Process data
Set the duty cycle Ku for electric motor in according the power consumption. It is necessary
Intermittent operation.
Environmental data
The characteristics of equipment and materials are provided for standard environmental conditions.
The knowledge of parameters related to actual site conditions allows the designer to introduce
correction factors for electrical equipment.
Classification of Electrical Consumers
We must know:
Performance;

Estimate the power that must be installed to provide for the future extension.
5.4 Hypotheses
The references documents related to the design of the plant electric systems are:
One Line Diagram
Equipment List
General Electric System Specification
Based on data collection and the inputs present at that moment, SPPC develop firstly a preliminary load
list that includes a list of electrical consumers and design the study specifications, data sheets, single line
diagrams, general arrangement layout, main earthing layout and also calculation.
5.5 Calculation
The load list calculation procedure involves the determination of active and reactive power for each unit
on the basis of installed power by applying the use factor Ku and the simultaneity factor Ks. the total
power installed is equal to the total power of each unit of the project.

MV AND LV MOTORS
Motor rated power, the electric power at the operating point and performance (or the
electrical power to its point of operation, taking into account the load factor (ie the operating
point is 80% of motor power ), this value should not exceed 85% (see the service factor);
Indicate if the motor are equipped with a starting device (soft starter SS, Variable Speed
frequency, VSF...).
5.5.5
The service factor is the ratio between the period of load operation, including starting and braking power
to the cycle of service as a percentage. This factor can be determined according to the power absorbed
(see the table below):
Absorbed Power (Kw)
P 18.5 Kw

18.5 Kw P 70 Kw
10 to 15%
P 75 Kw

The simultaneity factor requires detailed knowledge of the installation and operating conditions,
including electrical motor and power outlet. The simultaneity factors are summarized in the table below:

5.6 Conclusion
The electrical load list document will always be included in the project document list and as such it will
be always supplied to the company at the end of each project phase, as specifically defined in the project
document control procedure. The company received this document by SPPC on paper and in electronic
file, having format MS excel and Adobe Acrobat the latter obtained from scanning of original document
duly filled and signed in the appropriate revision table.
