Source three definitions for the word robot as indicated below:

a. Online definition
A robot is a machine intended to perform one or more jobs repetitively, with speed
and precision. There are a lot of different types of robots with a different task that
could be perform by each robot. Most robots are controlled by computer. A robot also
can be controlled by a human operator, sometimes from a great distance [1].

b. Dictionary definition
A robot is a machine which is able to carrying out a complex series of activities
mechanically, especially the one that is programmable by a computer [2].
c. In your own words
Robot is a machine that can be control by programming to helps human to do difficult
and challenging task for example welding a car body which required repetitive task.
2. Identify three activities that robots are now capable of performing with higher
quality than humans.
a. Welding car frames
b. Pick and place of parts in manufacturing industries.
c. Electronic testing
3. Identify three activities that humans will always perform better than robots.
a. Humans are creative to solve a problem in several ways.
b. Humans can work together as a team and discuss among each other to solve a
problem.
c. Humans are capable of resolving conflict data when there are some error occur while
robot are only following the instruction and neglect the error that occurred.

4. Name three films that have a robot as one of the main characters. Is the character
viewed as a positive, neutral, or negative societal influence?
a. Iron man

The main character in this movie is Tony Stark which is viewed as a positive
influence to the society. By creating an advanced suit of armor to save his life and
escape captivity, he also uses his money and intelligence to make the world a safer,
better place as an Iron Man.
b. Robocop
The main character in this movie is Robocop which is programmed to three main
prime directives, which are comparable with Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of
Robotics". Robocop is viewed as the positive influence to the society because it is
assigned to serve the public trust, protect the innocent and uphold the law.
c. Transformers
One of the character in this movie is Optimus Prime. This robot is viewed as the
good influence to the society because he constantly sacrificing himself for the sake of
humans and his friends. This robot is like the fighter who would defends you from
any bullies.
5. Who is the father of robotics? How did he earn this designation? (This one is subject
to debate, so don't stress too much over which one you select.)
Joseph F. Engelberger, an engineer and entrepreneur who pioneered the robotics field is
known as the father of robotics. He is the first person who launched the worlds first
robotics company, Unimation, in 1956. The first industrial robot called Unimate was
installed in a General Motors plant in 1961 and revolutionized modern manufacturing
processes. It is approximately three million industrial robots have been installed in
manufacturing facilities around the world.
6. What are three jobs that would require at least a basic knowledge of robotics?
a. Robotics engineer.
b. Automation programmer.
c. Robotic MIG welder.

7. Name three colleges or universities that offer at least one class in Robotics. What is
the title of each course?
a. Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
-Robotics and automation.
b. Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL).
-Automation technology.
c. Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTEM).

-Industrial robot.
8. Find an example (online) of a robot you consider to be amazing in terms of its
capability. Place a picture of this robot on your document. What is the intended use
of this robot? Is it currently being sold or marketed? In your own words, what will
be the most significant impact of this robot?
YuMi Robot manufactured by the ABB Robotics is one of an amazing industrial robots
nowadays. YuMi Robot is an innovative human - friendly dual arm robot with
breakthrough functionality designed to unlock vast global additional automation potential
in industry. YuMi is designed for a new era of automation, for example in small parts
assembly, where people and robots work side-by-side on the same tasks. Safety is built
into the functionality of the robot itself. YuMi removes the barriers to collaboration by
making fencing and cages a thing of the past. It was officially introduced to the market at
the Hannover Messe on Monday, April 13, 2015. In my opinion this YuMi Robot is
currently the best industrial robot so far due to its collaborative, dual arm, small parts
assembly robot solution that includes flexible hands, parts feeding systems, camera-based
part location and state-of-the-art robot control which make its different to the others
robot.

9. Find an example (online) of a robot or robotic system for sale. What is the capability
of this robot? How much does it cost? If you had the money available to purchase
such a robot, would you? Why or why not? If you did buy it, would it be for its
practical usage or just to impress your friends and neighbours?

CaddyTrek Mobile Autonomous Robotic Golf Cart Caddy is a smart and compact
robotic golf caddy that helps humans to carries the golf bag around the golf course. This
robot uses robotic sensors to follow the user. Furthermore, this robot can be controlled
using remote with the forward, backward, left and right directional functions on the
transceiver for example calling your caddy back from afar, or sending it off to the next
tee. This robot cost about RM 6,000.00. I would purchase this robot if I had enough
money because of its practical usage. It helps me to focusses on playing golf without
worrying about the heavy golf bag.
