Instructions for Updating Network License for STAAD.

Pro 2003

This document is meant for the system administrator in charge of installing and maintaining STAAD.Pro Network
License. If you are the end-user, please contact your system administrator to follow the instructions given below:
If you are using license strings generated prior to STAAD.Pro 2003 release, you need to update the license string so
that the end-users can run STAAD.Pro 2003.
You may now receive the network license strings by visiting the URL http://www.reiworld.com/Updatelock/net.
Alternatively, you may contact REI Customer support by emailing to support@reiusa.com.
1.

Run License Administration from REI Network License Manager program group.

2.

Go to Tools | Get Hardware Lock Key from the main menu. Write down the Hardware Lock Key displayed in
the right-hand window pane. Alternatively, write down the hardware lock label (e.g. SHN1234).

3.

Obtain the program Serial Number from the CD jacket. Make sure that this serial number is meant for this
hardware lock. If you are not sure, please check the packing slip.

4.

On a computer that has Internet access, go to http://www.reiworld.com/UpdateLock/net. Enter the Hardware

Lock Key (or the Hardware lock label no) and the Serial Number.

5.

The Web site will try to generate a license file (.LIC file). If the application encounters an error, it will
display an error message. If this happens, contact your nearest REI office for manual processing.

6.

If the process is successful, the Web site will provide a link to download the license file (.LIC). Click on this
link to save the license file (in any directory).

7.

Take the .LIC file to the machine running License Manager Server. Make sure that the SAME lock is
attached in the back of the machine. Copy the .LIC file (in any directory) to this machine. Make a backup of
the previous license string (.LIC file).

8.

Start REI Network License Manager | License Status (WlmAdmin) program. Find this License server from
Defined Servers list or by expanding the Subnet Servers list. For this document we shall assume that the
license server is running in a machine called LICSERVER.

9.

Expand the LICSERVER node to locate the feature NGSOFT01. Right-click and select Remove Feature to
remove the old license.

10. Right click on LICSERVER and select Add Feature | From a File | To Server and its File. Browse and find
the new .Lic file obtained from the web site.
11. The application should add the feature NGSOFT01 to LICSERVER. If this feature does not appear
automatically, please refresh the LICSERVER node.
Please note that the end-users of STAAD.Pro 2002 as well as STAAD.Pro 2003 can work with the updated
STAAD.Pro 2003 license.
If you have any questions, please contact REI at support@reiusa.com or call 1-800-FOR-RESE and ask for a
