TITLE: MY FACE
LESSON AIMS:
-

To have students identify the parts of the face (eyes, ears, nose, teeth, mouth) through a song, they have to mime the actions
To develop listening comprehension skills through a dialogue. To consolidate the language used in the unit. (The Little Red Riding
Hood story)
To get students to understand usual questions (Whos this?/Whats this?)
To get students to use expressions from the story (Hello/ Bye, Smile!, Lovely flowers!, Youve got big teeth!)
To identify animals according to their facial characteristics. (cat, dog, What colour?, Whats this?)
To consolidate colors and parts of the face while they listen to the tape and colour Mrs. Potato

Activity 1
Aim: To create a pleasant atmosphere and to relax the students
Procedure: Greetings and introductory conversation
Activity 2
Aim: to see if Ss solved their homework
Procedure: T checks homework and Ss read it and correct themselves if theyre wrong
Activity 3
Aim: to recall the vocabulary from the former lesson
Procedure:
- T pins up the My face poster and ask Ss to identify parts of the face
- T points at and repeat the words. Ss have to repeat
- T puts the tape, Ss have to listen to the song and mime the actions (Wash your hands,
wash your face, brush your teeth, brush your hair)

Aim: To develop listening comprehension skills through a dialogue


Procedure:
- T pins the Little Red Riding Hood on the board and tell Ss that Woody and Frosty
are going to meet Little Red Riding Hood and Big Bad Wolf. Then T points to Woody,
asking Ss whos this. T does the same with the other characters. Ss have to wave at
them.
- T asks Ss to look in the book as they listen the story. Ss have to point to the picture as
they hear the recording. Ss have to complete the sentences as T points them on the
poster.
- T asks for a volunteer who has to point to the pictures and say the dialogue. There will
be 7 volunteers.
Activity 5
Aim: To identify animals according to their facial characteristics.
Procedure:
- T draws a sketch of a cat on the board, elicits its characteristics: big eyes, small nose,
small ears. She shows to Ss: this is a cat. Then, T repeats with the sketch of a dog,
elicits it characteristics: big eyes, big nose, small ears
- T asks SS to turn to page 10 and asks Ss to circle the parts of the face which belong to
cats/ dogs face.
Activity 6
Aim: To consolidate colors and parts of the face while they listen to the tape and colour
Procedure: T points to the Mrs. Potato picture and asks what colour are her shoes. T revises
the parts of the face by showing them on the pictures. T says to Ss that they will listen some
instructions and they have to colour as they hear on the tape. If needed, T puts the recording
twice. T gives prizes to Ss who coloured the most correct and neat.
Activity 7
Aim: To make Ss understand better the parts of the face by drawing and colouring a strange
animal in pairs
Procedure: T hand in a sheet of paper to each pair of Ss. T says to them that they have to draw

a strange animal as they imaginate it (ex: a cat with elephant nose) and give it a name. Then,
they describe the animal to other pairs and the pairs who created the most interesting animals
will get a prize. They will have to present it in front of the class.
Activity 8
Aim: to check if Ss understood the animals parts of the face and the instructions
Procedure: T asks Ss to open their books to page 46, then 47 and they have to match the
words to the animals and then to match the actions with the pictures.
Homework assesment: Ss will have to draw Mr Potato on a piece of paper and colour it as
they like. Next time theyll have to present it to the class and put it in the portfolio.
