March 2016
Pastry chef Miko Aspiras joins Idol sa Kusina for MFM 2016
With almost a week before Madrid Fusion Manila (MFM) 2016 rolls out on 7-9 April at
the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, pastry chef Michael Aspiras joins Idol sa Kusina
master chef Boy Logro to talk about the much anticipated culinary event, this Easter Sunday, 27
March 2016, 7:00 P.M. on GMA News TV, Channel 11.
The 2015 Esquire Philippines Chef of the Year is whipping up an easy-to-cook dessert
he called Ang Bagong Pinoy Fruit Salad, a modern and healthy spin on the Filipino favorite.
According to Chef Miko, as he is fondly called by his peers in the culinary industry, while this
dish may seem new and fancy as it makes use of ingredients not usually seen in salads, this
fruit salad still hits very close to home.
It is still very Pinoy, but with a healthy and modern twist, the chef of Tastless Food
Group said in an interview, heeding the MFM tradition that showcases an amalgamation of the
traditional cooking, the modern, most cutting edge, and avant garde cuisines of the 21st century.
Chef Michael Aspiras is one of the featured Filipino chefs who will take center stage with
some of the most acclaimed avant garde chefs from around the world in this second run of the
only Asian edition of Madrid Fusion, the most important international gastronomy congress in
the world which has been celebrated annually in Madrid since 2003.
MFM 2016 is organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT), Tourism Promotions
Board (TPB) PHL, Foro de Debate, and Arum. This years theme, The Manila Galleon: East
meets West celebrates the 450th anniversary of the Galleon Trade that linked Asia with the
Western World.
The 3-day congress will also feature a trade exhibition, showcasing food & beverage
companies, gourmet products, ingredients, new technologies and services in the food industry.
