INTRODUCTION

There is no human without language and there is no language without human.

Language is the main means whereby people communicate. It is also, ironically,
the main means whereby people fail to communicate. How much time do you
spend thinking about the language you speak? If you are like most people, you
probably dont consider it much at all. For many of us, speaking is as natural as
waking up each day, it is an unconscious action that we are rarely notice we are
even doing. As a result, we usually do not imagine our language as something
that might wield power, fuel debate, or even cause conflict. In the truth,
language can even operate in all of these ways. Jeans Aitchison said, language
is pattern system of arbitrary sound signals, characterized by structure
dependence, creativity, displacement, duality, and cultural transmission.
When talking about language, do we ever think about how many language
that exist in this world? When people are asked about how many languages they
think there are in the world, the answer was quite a bit. There is around 200000
of language that exist in this world such as English, Chinese, Deutsch, Italino,
Espaola, and French language. All of these language are the most language that
have a billion of speakers. By the present of these language, we should take an
advantage to learn one of these language. There is a lot of advantages if we are
learn others language.
As a university student, I have take this opportunity to learn other
language beside Malay and English. I have choose French language because
there is a lot of advantages by learning French language. Besides, there is
around 200 billion of people who speak French language after English in five
benua, and the 9th language that have a lot of speakers in this world.

POURQUOI VOUS AIMEZ APPRENDERE LE FRANAIS ?

As I said in the introduction, I have choose French language as my language
subject. I choose French language because there is a lot of opportunities in both
of my professional and personal lives. One of the reason why I choose this
language are :
1) Job Opportunities.
Being able to speak another language can help you in your career. Wherever
you live, if you are in any occupation that involves international trade,
communications, or tourism, you will find similar opportunities to use your
new language skills. There is a limitless range of things you can do with
French. In this 21th century, most of all the companies and organizations in
this world seeking for the individues that can speak other than thier mother
tongue language. French are one of the languages that every of the
organizations used to make any cooperations with other organizations. So,
one who speak French has increase their job opportunities and salary
potential.
This could be prove by, more than fifty international organizations such as
the Red Cross, UNESCO, Mdecins sans frontire and the International
Telecommunications Union, providing range of employment opportunities for
speakers of French. Next, most of 1,200 French companies has subsidiaries in
the United States, and French is the largest recipient of United State foreign
investment. Besides, French was the word leaders in the development of
science and technology, a market with explosive growth potential.
By all of this reason, I think this is the best idea I have ever choose to
learn French because one of my dreams are to be working in the oversea.
Besides, by learning this language, I also can seek for a job with the Airlines,
or maybe working with the United Nations? Who knows.

2) Travelling
One of my dreams are to travel all over the world, and one of my favourite
destinations is French. French has a rich cultural history. Its lifestyle, art, food,
fashion, sporting event, architecture and scenic beauty attract some 70
million tourist each years. A little French makes it so much more enjoyable to
visit Paris and all the regions of France ,from the mild climes of the Cote
dAzur to the snow-capped peaks of the Alps via the rugged coastline of
Brittany and offers insights into French culture, mentality and way of life.
French also comes in handy when travelling to Africa, Switzerland, Canada,
Monaco, the Seychelles and other places. But how could Ill go there if I could
not speak even a simple phrase of French?. This could make your vacations
going into trouble because you cannot make an interactions with the French
people.

As I know, French people does not speak English too often

eventhough they do speak English. They will and always be proud to speak
their mother tongue language, Franais.
By having an understanding of the French language, it may allow me to
see and do things that many other visitors dont get to. Also, the best way to
truly understand a culture is to be able to speak the language. Although I can
learn a lot through Lonely Planet guide, but being able to communicate with
the natives and the locals that will give me some experience in a lifetime.
Being able to read a French newspaper, for example, can give you great
insight into the places you visit and a better vision of what is going on in
other parts of the world. Not to mention, French offers a wealth of literature,
both modern and traditional. Besides making our vacation goes smoothly,
learning French also may allows us to get a new friend from French. It is a
bonus if we can get a friend from there just because we can speak their
language!.

3) Studying Abroad
If you plan to study at a foreign university, college or school, you will need a
good knowledge of the local language. Your institution will probably provide
preparatory courses to improve your language skills and continuing support
throughout your main course. Speaking French will opens up study
opportunities at renowned French universities and business schools, ranked
among the top higher education institutions in Europe and the world.
Students with a good level of French are eligible for French government
scholarships to enrol in postgraduate courses in France in any discipline and
qualify for internationally recognised French degrees.
I have a dreams to futher my study abroad since I was a little kids. Its an
opportunities for me to learn French because it will let me to study in any
country that most of its people speak French in their daily language.Learning
French also will help me in my study. It will improve my learning skill because
it may trains me to think in a certain way and develop my critical and creative
thinking skills. It also could help me with admissions or even getting a
scholarship. So, we have to learn other language such as French because it
help us to attain in a number of important life skills.

4) To Increase Knowledge
I have learn so many language before this because that is my hobby. Instead,
learning French also will increases my knowledge and my communications
skill. Language is foremost a means of communication, and communication
almost always take place within some sort of social context. Effective
communication requires an understanding and recognition of the connections
between a language and the people who use it. Learning another language
might give you the chance to experience more interesting and innovative
learning methods. You can learn a language through watching movies or
Television in that language, through joining a conversation group with other
learners, even through immersion and study programmes in the country
where the language is spoken.

A range of diverse study and learning

techniques are available when learning another language.

Therefore, by learning French, I will easily make a conversations with some
people who speak French and it may be a secret language that I can use to
communicate with others who speak French anywhere just because other
people does not understand what we are talking about. Besides, knowing
French also will help me to improve my vocabulary in English. The fact is
some of English vocabulary comes from French. The study of French will

enhance my grammar skills and increased proficiency. So, as I have develop

greater skills in French, I also will sharpen my skills in English.

CONCLUSION
Learning and know how to speak in variety of language will give us so much of
advanatges, especially those language that have a ot of speaker such as French.
I am such a lucky for having the opportunities to study French. There is a lot I can
do by learning this language. Learn French will increase my knowledge not only
in French but also in English. Next, its will make my vacation go smoothly to any
country that its locals speak in French such as Canada and France. Next, it will
give me a advantages in my future when I am going to find a job after finishing
my study. So, other people should learn and know another language other than
their mother tongue language. They should be brave to take this opportunities.
