Proportional Pressure Relief Valve

Series RE

Function Description

Type-code Extract:

The integrated valve electronic include the following functions:

Differential command input for voltage or

current signals.

Adjustable ramp generator, range of adjustment

0-5 sec.

MIN/MAX-adjustment to maintain full use of

the command signal range over the actual
pressure spectrum set with this adjustment.

Electronically linearized signal-/pressure

characteristic.

Pulse width modulated current signal for valve

solenoid.

Standard central connection socket.

The solenoid current is stabilised against voltage

fluctuations as well as temperature dependent
resistance variations of the solenoid coils. The
signal-/pressure characteristic is electronically
linearized to achieve a far-going relationship
between the input signal and the pressure value.

Measurement of solenoid current

Measurements and Set-up Facilities

The current to the solenoids can be measured

insofar as a current measuring instrument is
connected in series between the solenoid supply
lead and the appropriate connector X1. The
maximum current at 100% of set value is
approximately 2.5A.

Ramp time:
The ramp time can be adjusted from 0...5 sec.at
potentiometer P1 (ramp up) and P2 (ramp down).
MIN-/MAX-Set up:
The MIN/MAX-adjustment feature adapts the full
command signal range to the defined actual
working range of the valve.
Set-up procedure:
1)

Feed in a command signal of +50mV (resp.

+0,1mA).

2)

Adjust offset for the required operation pressure

setting by potentiometer "MIN".

3)

Feed in a command signal +10V (resp. +20mA)

4)

Adjust the required maximum pressure by

potentiometer "MAX".

5)

Take into account that MIN has to be adjusted

before MAX.

INSTALLATION GUIDE TO VALVES WITH ONBOARD ELECTRONICS

TO PROVISION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY.
Power Supply
The utilized power supply has to comply with the EMC-standards (CE-sign, certificate of conformity).
Parker is offering the following power supplies:
EX00-N01
EX00-N04
EX00-N08

( 2.5 Amp.)
( 5.0 Amp.)
(10.0 Amp.)

Relais and solenoids operating from the same supply circuit than the valve electronics has to be fitted
by surge protection elements.

Wiring Cable
The wiring cable between the control cabinet and the valve has to be shielded. The central wiring has
to be installed from a 7 wire cable that utilizes a common shielding and a cross section of min. AWG17.
For the connection of the option "Solenoid disable" a similar cable has to be used. The capacity should
not exceed a value of approx. 130 pF/m (wire/wire). The maximum cable length is 50 m. No power
current lines may be placed in parallel to the valve's wiring cables. The cable shield has to be connected
to earth ground at both ends (see also chapter "Grounding"). Please be aware of ground loops.

Connectors
The central connection of the valve electronics needs a connector 6pin+E according DIN 43563
featuring metal case and integrated cable shield coupling. Use a similar connector 5pin for the
connection of the optional "Solenoid disable" function. Parker can provide suitable connectors:
5004072
5004091

(Connector 6pin+E)
(Connector 5pin)

The connectors has to be installed according the connection diagram, the cable shield has to be tied
on the whole periphery to the provided coupling clamp.

Grounding
The mounting plate of the valve has to be connected to the grounded metal machine frame. The earth
wire to pin G of the central wire cable as well as the cable shields of the valve connection cables should
be tied to earth ground at the control cabinet. A low-ohmic potential compensation wire has to be
provided between the control cabinet and the machine frame (cable wire AWG7 cross section) to
prevent ground loops.
