Presentation, Analysis, & Interpretation of Data

Based on the results gathered from a survey of 34 first-year Legal Management


students, the following data was gathered by the researchers.

Numbers 1-7 represents the seven multiple choice questions in the survey
questionnaire.
a, b, and c represent the three choices to the multiple choice questions.

As can be seen from the data gathered from the survey, most people answered a
to the first question. This means that at least 26 students think that study habits are
effective in helping students meet varying academic standards, while 1 said that they
are not of any use to students. 7 other students said that sometimes it does, sometimes
it doesnt. As for the second question, it seems that only 10 students have found that
their study habits may be of use with regards to different academic tasks.

The students are more divided in answering the third question. While most
students answered that their study habits had so far helped them to achieve their
desired results, it seems that 12 students had answered that it depends, perhaps on the
subject in question. 6 more students answered that their study habits had so far not
been as helpful as they had hoped and are still looking for an effective study method.
When asked about how many hours they spend studying, 21 students answered that
they spend 2-4 hours studying. 10 answered that they study for more than 5 hours. 3
students answered that they dont study. Most students rely on physical reading
materials such as books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc. to study while 9 prefer to use
the internet as a reference. Another 8 students simply rely on their stock knowledge.
As for the preferred study methods of students, 9 preferred to simply read their
lessons, 12 liked to read and test themselves, while 13 more put others. When
prompted to specify what others is, the students said reading and writing.

For the final question in Part II, the students were asked about what distracts them from
their studies. An overwhelming majority, or about 73% of the students answered that the
internet distracts them. 9% of the students did not specify what distracts them. 6%
answered friends and family, and another 6% of the students said that nothing distracts

them. Finally, 1 student answered that his girlfriend distracts him, and another student
answered that both friends and family, as well as the internet is distracting.

The above figure shows the students answers to the first essay question. When asked
about whether or not technology has greatly improved the way they do their academic
tasks and assignments, a majority of the students, about seventy-three percent or 73%
answered yes, it improved their the way the students do their academic tasks. Twentyfour percent or 24% said that it does not and only three percent (3%) said it does not.
