What Kind of Belief Do You Have?

(Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign #21)

John 2:18-25:
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us,
seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I
will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt
thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he
had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which
Jesus had said.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many
believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
----Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon
series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with
unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the
main thing the main thing -- and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of
the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America
is not only disobedient presidents and politicians but disobedient pastors,
preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey God's Great Commission
and who have refused to obey God's repeated commands to "pray without
ceasing" for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for
the right candidate too win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord
gives you peace about voting for. But, don't get caught up in it like the world
does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their
hearts right with the Lord.

This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which
says, "For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and
him crucified." Acts 5:42 which says, "And daily in the temple, and in every
house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." And 2 Timothy 2:4
which says, "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life;
that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."
This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of
those saints who still loves to hear the "Old, old story of Jesus and His love" -- As
the hymn says, "For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to
hear it like the rest." This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and
understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is
hell. This is message number 21.
Lee Camp said, "Jesus of Nazareth always comes asking disciples to follow him-not merely 'accept him,' not merely 'believe in him,' not merely 'worship him,' but
to follow him: one either follows Christ, or one does not. There is no
compartmentalization of the faith, no realm, no sphere, no business, no politic in
which the lordship of Christ will be excluded. We either make him Lord of all
lords, or we deny him as Lord of any."
When a person says they believe in Jesus, what, exactly, do they mean? It is
possible to believe many things about Jesus that are correct and proper. Some
believe that Jesus was simply a historical figure...and He was. Some believe He
was a Jewish rabbi...and He was. Some believe He was a great religious
teacher...and He was. Some believe He was indeed a miracle-worker...and He was.
Some believe He is a great example for today...and He is. But none of these
beliefs will save a soul from a burning hell.
After Jesus' miracle of turning the water into wine, and after His cleansing of the
Temple, the Bible tells us that He worked miracles in Jerusalem during the
Passover feast. A couple million Jews had gathered in Jerusalem, and when they
saw the miracles that Jesus performed, the text says, "many believed in his
name." They believed in Jesus as a miracle-worker; they believed that he had
supernatural power from God. It was not hard for them to develop this belief as
they could not deny what they had seen with their own eyes.
Jesus' miracles intrigued and excited the masses. Everybody wanted to know,
'Who is this miracle-worker?' More importantly, they wanted to bring their sick to
Him so they could be healed, bring their blind and lame to Him so their faculties
could be restored, and bring their demon-possessed people to him, so the

demons could be cast out. Often, that is how we treat God and Jesus. We are only
in it for some physical benefit that we can get out of it. God does not want us to
be that way.
Next the Bible tells us, "But Jesus did not commit himself unto them [those who
believed on Him because of His miracles], because he knew all men." The word
"commit" comes from a Greek word which means to place one's faith, trust, or
confidence in, or to be persuaded of something. Jesus did not allow Himself to be
caught up in the masses of people that were suddenly following Him and singing
His praises. He knew what they wanted from Him. He knew that they were not
interested in His agenda. In fact, when they found out that He would not become
their king, many of them got mad and stopped following Him.
Jesus knew everything about human nature. John writes, "He knew all men, and
needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man." Jesus
knew the thoughts and intentions of all the people who followed Him. He knew
those who were just there because He was suddenly a celebrity. He knew those
who would follow Him until they got their miracle and then would forsake Him. He
knew those who followed Him because they were intellectuals, and they wanted
to hear the words of this new teacher.
Ray Stedman said, "Jesus could read all the signs that telegraph what we are. We
are always indicating, by the looks on our faces, the tones of our voices, the
positions, the stances we take with our bodies, what we really are like inside.
None of us can read those signs adequately enough to be able to see through the
facades and insincerities of others. But Jesus could. Therefore he was never
deceived, never fooled, about anybody. Though they came to him and said they
wanted to follow him, he could read their hearts and know whether it was real or
not."
Right now, Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart. He is looking at your
heart and examining your motives. Are you considering believing in Him and
following Him? Then, I encourage you to believe in Him for the salvation that He
offers. Believe in Him because you truly want a changed life. Believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ because you are willing to commit your life to Him. Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ because you are willing to follow Him. Believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ because you are willing to obey Him. Do not come with ulterior
motives, thinking that God will give you something for coming to Jesus. Do not
come because others want you to believe. Do not come because you think it's
cool to follow Jesus or because a lot of the people you know are following Him.

Dont come as just a fan. Believe in Him for yourself. Come humbly, knowing that
you are a sinner in need of a Saviour
Are you ready to believe in Jesus Christ for your salvation from sin and the
consequences of sin? Allow me to show you how.
First, please understand that you are a sinner and that you have broken God's
laws. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and come short of the
glory of God." Please understand that because of your sins, you deserve
punishment in hell. Romans 6:23 says "the wages of sin is death" This is both
physical death and spiritual death in hell.
But here is the good news. John 3:16 reads, "For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life."
The phrase "For God so loved the world" means that if you are in this world, God
loves you no matter what you have done.
The next phrase, "that He gave His only begotten Son" refers to Jesus Christ. He
is God's son who suffered, bled, and died on the cross for your sins and for mine,
and He was buried and rose again.
Our next phrase is "that whosoever believeth in Him". The word "whosoever"
means anybody at anytime. The phrase "believeth in Him" means to trust in Him,
to depend upon Him, to rely on Him, or to have faith in Him for your salvation.
Our next phrase, "should not perish", refers to eternal punishment in a place
called hell.
And, lastly, the phrase "but have everlasting life" means to live eternally in
Heaven with God.
The Bible also says in Romans 10:9 and 13: "That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved.... For whosoever shall call upon the name of
the Lord shall be saved."
Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation,
please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a
sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake,

please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ
died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart
and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and
rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in
life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more
