This resource is designed to allow your family to have time in Gods Word
BEFORE your children attend church. Because Gods plan is for parents to be
the primary spiritual nurturers of their childrens faith, we want YOU to be the
one to introduce this part of The Big God Story to them.

GOD IS FAITHFUL
Part of The Big God Story
Ezra 18
The Jewish people returned to Jerusalem and the temple was rebuilt.

JUST FOR FUN

Read Ezra 3:811.
Then, allow your children to play with stacking objects or linking blocks. As they
build, remind them of the story of the Israelites returning, and how God was
faithful. Share with them that God did what He said He would do by allowing the
people to rebuild the temple and return to worship Him.

REMEMBER VERSE
This is what the LORD says
your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
I am the LORD your God,
who teaches you what is best for you,
who directs you in the way you should go.
Isaiah 48:17

Lesson 2

DID YOU KNOW?

The book of Ezra begins with the end of the Israelites 70 years of captivity in
Babylon.
God used the Persian king Cyrus to make the Israelites return to Jerusalem
possible.
God is faithful! He was true to His word, even though it took about 20 years for
the temple to finally be rebuilt.

DEVELOPMENT
As your child listens to and watches the adults around him, his ideas of God are
being formed. Always follow through on your promises and be sure to do what
you say you will. This will encourage your child to understand the concept of
Gods faithfulness.

TEACHABLE MOMENTS
After reading the Scripture passage, discuss the following together:
How do you think the people felt when they were given the freedom to return to
Jerusalem?
How do you think the people felt when the temple was rebuilt? What do you
think the first thing they did was?
How was God faithful in this part of The Big God Story?

BLESSING
For more information about blessing your child, see the Blessing section in
HomeFront: A Spiritual Parenting Resource.
A blessing to pray over your child:
(Childs name), God is faithful. He will give you everything you need as you
serve Him and others.
