ACKNOWLEDGMENT
Confidence, encouragement, faith, and inspiration are just some of the gifts and
blessings bestowed on us throughout this journey. As we compose this section, we are humbled
and grateful to those who supported and motivated us. We grew protected in the safety of your
shadow while you sheltered us from potentially debilitating discouragement. Your emotional
embrace kept us centered and focused. You taught us to open our hearts and our eyes to others
along the way, witnessed our transformation, and were there to celebrate the successes.
Throughout any journey you rely on those close to you for sustenance, assistance,
comfort, and encouragement. To all the committee members, co-teachers, and students, thank
you for your support, guidance, insight, and friendship. We would like to especially pay gratitude
to Maam Celia Verano for her help and guidance.
Every once in awhile we are fortunate enough for our paths to cross with people who
make significant impacts on our lives, who catch a glimpse of something in us that we do not
recognize in ourselves. They nurture and encourage us to push beyond our self-imposed limits,
rejoicing with us as we experience the possibilities around the corner.
We want to acknowledge Mrs. Mary Joyce B. Austria, who has unconditionally
supported, helped and encouraged us along the way. You are the best. Also, we would like to
thank Math Department for the inspiration in their collaborative efforts in pursuing this research.
To Manang Marvi dela Cruz, through her leadership, in the dual role of mentor and
friend, she recognized something in us and prompted this journey. We hope you know how
much we admire you and appreciate your faith on us.
We were raised to make the world a better place, demonstrate kindness toward others,
and treat each endeavor as if it was the most important thing we would ever encounter and
subsequently accomplish. Our parents taught through example, with an unwavering faith in

God, commitment to family, and encouraged this dream to become a reality. Through your love,
example and encouragement, we learned to embrace life with honest, hard work.

DEDICATION

We dedicate this research to our

INTEGRATING

ICT

IN

TEACHING

PHYSICAL

EDUCATION aimed to determine the teaching styles of teachers in teaching Physical

Education, the ICT Integration they used in teaching the subject and level of motivation of
students before and after the intervention.
The respondents of this paper are 6 teachers of Physical Education and 40 students.
The students were randomly selected in which there were 10 students per grade level. A
questionnaire was given to teachers on their teaching strategies and their ICT Intervention tools.
The students were given the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI).
The researchers personally made an online template for the questionnaires. Data
obtained were tabulated in tables and interpreted using the simple percentage and mean. T-test
was also used to determine if there exists a significant change on the motivation of students
with the integration of ICT in their Physical Education class.
From the result and discussions presented, the following findings have been drawn:
6 out of 6 PE teachers use Peer Collaboration, Self feedback and direct teaching frequently in
teaching Physical Education. The common intervention tools used by PE teachers are cameras,
mobile phone cameras, Youtube and internet sites. The level of motivation of students before
the intervention was low. This means that their mean ranges from 2.51 3.51 on the average.
The level of motivation of students after the intervention was moderately high. This means that
their mean ranges from 3.51 5.00 on the average. There exists significant changes on the
level of motivation of students using ICT intervention tools in teaching Physical education at a =
0.05 level of significance.
In light of the findings, it can be concluded that teachers various teaching styles in
teaching Physical Education. One of the strategies used by these teachers is in line with ICT.
With the use of ICT in Physical Education, students motivation has increased. Hence, ICT

integration in teaching Physical Education is an effective way of increasing student motivation

to subject and activities therein.
In light of the summary of findings and conclusions, the following are recommended by
the researchers: Physical Education teachers must use ICT more often in their classes to
enhance students participation. Internet connections must be readily available to students for
them to use interactive websites used in Physical Education. Physical Education teachers must
ensure content pedagogy in integrating ICT in teaching Physical Education.
