Recognized internationally as a center for higher education and

research, Universit Bocconi has maintained fruitful relations with
leading companies and institutions for over a century, in Italy and
abroad. Our institution is committed to educating students to be
competent and responsible, able to succeed in seeking and performing

by a highly qualified faculty. Bocconis modern urban campus has
excellent facilities, technology and people to provide many
opportunities to enrich your all-around university experience.
Cutting-edge teaching methods and quality services are offered to
highly-qualified students selected on the basis of their academic
achievement, standardized test results and individual evaluation.
The admissions process strives to recognize potential and rewards
ability, motivation and merit, regardless of the economic conditions
of the students family.
Over recent years, the University has implemented an investment policy
to support deserving students, through an increasingly extensive system
of financial aid packages assigned according to student profiles and
economic conditions.
A fair tuition and fees system, together with merit- and need-based
scholarships, funding for international mobility, graduation awards
and other opportunities all help a large number of students find the
financial peace of mind necessary to complete their studies at Bocconi.
To make the process smoother and to allow families to evaluate the
actual financial commitment needed to attend the University before
enrollment, the admissions application and any financial aid applications
must be submitted together. Information about both admission to
Bocconi and any financial aid that has been awarded will be
communicated before enrollment.

Admissions
Procedures

Applying to university entails a number of steps: at Bocconi we try to

smooth the way for international applicants by providing step-by-step
instructions for the admissions process.
As we go through the admissions procedure in more detail, important
dates and deadlines for every step will be provided.
An overview of these dates and deadlines can be found in the table on
page 17.

Bocconi Bachelor Programs

Bocconi is a selective university that sets a fixed number of places
available each year in order to provide living and study conditions that
best enable all students to complete their degrees. A total of 2675 places
are available for first-year students for the 2014-2015 academic year,
within the 6 Bachelor degrees and the Law program offered.
International students have access to more than half of the places
available in the Bachelor Programs taught in English and up to 10% of
all places in Italian programs.

The majority of first-year international applicants to Bocconi apply to

our Bachelor programs in English. If you are fluent in Italian, you can
also apply for any of our other degree programs held in Italian or pick
Italian programs as your second and third choices on your online
application, even if your first choice is one of the programs in English.
Except for the program in Economia e management per arte, cultura
e comunicazione, Bocconis Bachelor programs (those in English
and 3 programs in Italian) have a common curriculum basis, which
allows students to change their program of study after the first three
semesters, based on merit and availability of spots. Please check
our website for details about Bocconis undergraduate offer at
www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateschool.
In addition, Bocconi offers the World Bachelor in Business, a 4-year
degree program developed in partnership with the University of
Southern Californias Marshall School of Business and the Hong Kong
University of Science and Technology.
Dedicated information, admission procedures, tuition fees and
scholarships for this particular program are outlined on page 26.

Admissions Rounds
Before you start your application, make sure you are an international
applicant. This basically depends on the high school you attend. If you
are attending a school in a foreign country or an international school (in
Italy or abroad), you will be considered an international applicant for the
admissions process.
For the 2014-2015 academic year, which will start in September 2014,
two admissions rounds are planned:

Online application
1st round: 22 October 2013 - 15 January 2014
2nd round: 16 January 2014 - 20 March 2014

Selected secondary school students can attend a special admissions

session during the summer before starting their last year of high school as
part of the Discover Your Talent Summer Program. Please check the
information available at www.unibocconi.eu/dyt .

The Criteria
Applicants are evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

Transcripts for the third-last and second-last years of secondary school

An aptitude test: the SAT, ACT or Bocconi test
CV and personal statement
Certificates (e.g. language, IT)

All elements will be considered as a whole for the admissions process.

During the 1st admissions round only, applicants with an outstanding GPA
for the third-last and second-last years of secondary school (e.g. at least
8 out of 10 in the Italian system or equivalent) can choose to apply
without taking an aptitude test, however we strongly suggest all
applicants submit their SAT or ACT scores or take the Bocconi test as a
further element of evaluation.
If you choose to apply without a test score, you will need to submit your
high school syllabi for Math and English for the third-last and secondlast years of secondary school. Syllabi must be original copies, with the
school seal and translated into English. Please visit our website
(www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateadmission) for information about
the average marks in your schools grading system required to skip the
test (SAT, ACT or Bocconi test).
Applicants participating in the 1st round who are not admitted can
participate in the 2nd round by filling out another application form and
submitting required documents again.
Applicants participating in the 1st round without submitting an aptitude
test who are assigned a wait-list position will be required to submit a
test score (SAT, ACT) or sit the Bocconi test in April in order to be
evaluated for the 2nd round.
During the 2nd round, applicants may not skip the test requirement.

Aptitude tests (SAT, ACT or Bocconi test)

On the online application you can choose to either provide SAT or ACT
scores or register to take the Bocconi test in Italy (Milan or Rome).
The SAT Reasoning Test is a standardized test for college admissions
administered by the College Board; it measures literacy and writing
skills that are needed for academic success in college. The SAT consists
of three sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. Each
section is assigned a score on the scale of 200800.
For more information on the SAT, check the website
www.collegeboard.org
Bocconi code for the SAT: 7206

The ACT (American College Testing) test measures high school students
general educational development and their ability to complete collegelevel work with a multiple choice test covering four skill areas: English,
mathematics, reading and science. The four main tests are scored
individually on a scale of 1-36, and a Composite score is also provided,
which is the whole number average of the four scores. Bocconi is mainly
interested in the ACT Composite score.
For more information on the ACT, check the website www.act.org
Bocconi code for the ACT: 5356

If you would like to take the SAT or ACT, be sure you apply for the exam
10

as soon as possible. We recommend you take the SAT or ACT in the fall
of 2013 so that results are available on time.
The Bocconi test lasts 90 minutes and involves 100 multiple choice
questions, which focus on various evaluation areas (e.g. critical
reasoning, logical and mathematical items).
The test can be taken in either Italian or English, according to the choice
indicated by the applicant when completing the online application,
regardless of the language of the program chosen (i.e. applicants can sit
the test in Italian and apply to a program in English and vice versa).
At www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateadmission you will find a Bocconi
test simulation and a guide to the Bocconi test.

Bocconi test dates

1st round : 7 February 2014 (in Milan and Rome)
2nd round: 4 April 2014 (in Milan only)

Language and IT certificates

Possessing one of the language (English, French, German, Italian,
Spanish or Portuguese) or IT certificates recognized by Bocconi will be
considered a supplementary element of evaluation.
These certificates will be considered for the selection process only if
previously completed and if sent (as a copy) by the deadline.

English language requirements

To enroll in a program taught in English, students must meet one of the
requirements listed online or have an English language certificate (at
least level B2 on the European Council scale). For more information
please refer to www.unibocconi.eu/undergraduateadmission
To apply to Bachelor programs in Italian, there are no specific language
requirements. It is, however, strongly advised to be fluent in the Italian
language and have a basic knowledge of English (level B1 on the
European Council scale).

Secondary school diploma requirements

If you are completing your secondary school education at a non-Italian
high school, please keep the following Italian Ministry of Education,
University and Research mandatory regulations in mind when applying
and check online the detailed regulations:
If your secondary school diploma was awarded after 10 or 11 years of
education, you will need to complete 1 or 2 years of college or
university with all exams passed in order to enroll in the first year of a
Bachelor program in an Italian university.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, British A Levels, the
European Baccalaureate, the French Baccalaurat and OIB (Option

11

Internationale du Baccalaurat) and the German Abitur are valid for

admission without a declaration of value.
National high school diplomas (except the ones above) must be
translated and legalized by the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the
country where the diploma was issued. The embassy or consulate will
provide a declaration of value for the diploma.
Students earning a US High School diploma will need to provide at least 5
AP courses in different subjects passed with a minimum grade of 3 out

of 5. Please see our website for a list of subjects recognized by Bocconi.

Students attending the British school system need to have at least 6
subjects granted during GCSE and at least 3 A Levels.
International applicants who are required to take a qualifying academic
exam for university admission in their home country (e.g. Gao Kao,
Veveosi Prosvasis, Matura, YGS) must pass that exam in order to enroll
in an Italian university. Passing this exam will be verified when
enrollment is finalized (September 2014).

Financial aid and scholarships

The financial aid system provided by Universit Bocconi includes
various types of support. International applicants are offered:
Merit-based aid: all applicants will be automatically considered for the
Bocconi merit awards based on the admission criteria. There is no need
to file a separate application form.
Need-based aid: for Bocconi Scholarships applicants must submit a
specific application by the same deadline as the deadline for Bachelor
programs applications.
For detailed information on financial aid opportunities dedicated to
international students please refer to page 21.

Additional Information

Useful information about study paths

Once enrolled in the first year of a Bachelor, students must earn at least

24 credits (40% of first-year requirements) by July 2015 to begin the

second year of the program. See the website for more information.
Students enrolled in one of the common curriculum-based programs
have the opportunity to change their program after the first three
semesters, based on merit and availability of spots. Within the various
programs, it is also possible to switch from a program taught in Italian
to one in English or vice versa.
Students enrolled in Bachelor programs taught in Italian are required to
take at least one course taught in English during their studies.
All Undergraduate students will be required to obtain the ECDL (European
Computer Driving License - 7 modules) in order to access the Computer
Skills for Economics course and exam (3 credits) during their first year of
study. Students should therefore complete the ECDL by the second
semester of the first year of the program in order to be ready for the exam.
Students who decide to continue their studies with a Bocconi Master of
Science program will have to go through a proper selection and
dedicated admissions procedures.

Transfer applicants from other universities

Applicants who would like to transfer to Bocconi from an Italian or
non-Italian university, or applicants who have already completed a
Bachelor degree, may apply as regular candidates during one of the two
rounds of admission. These applicants follow the same admissions
process up to enrollment as all other applicants. University transcripts
will not be evaluated for admission during this stage: admitted students
will enroll in the first year of the program. Only after admission and
enrollment in the first year of a program, may students request the
recognition of exams passed at the previous university.

The tuition and fees for the 4th year will be based on an average of costs
for the three universities.
The three universities provide merit scholarships which cover 50% or
25% of annual tuition and fees. Evaluation for scholarships will occur
automatically and at the same time as admission selections: students
therefore do not need to complete a separate application.
All students with European citizenship enrolled in the World Bachelor in
Business program can apply for a dedicated loan with a major European
bank. Details are available online.
The host school assists incoming students in finding suitable
accommodation and in adjusting to the local culture and environment.
All three universities provide various residence halls both on campus
and within a short distance, as well as support to current students, such
as help with visas, residence permits, support on enrollment and
administration issues, welcome activities, tutoring, etc.
