As the rate of withdrawal from the tank of the rate of demand of sanitary
fixtures depends on the habits of the population of buildings and hourly
pattern or demand is assume to work out the theoretical capacity of over
Head Storage Tank.
Therefore, storage = Maximum Deficit + Maximum Surplus
= (3.85a +3.8a) = 7.65a
Otherwise, maximum storage in Over Head Reservoir = (7.65 Avg.
Water supply)
= (7.65 168.75) lit
= 1290.94 lit (I)
The storage capacity on the basic of population of the residential building
= (No. Of population 70) lit
= (30 * 70) lit
= 2100 lit. (II)
1
2
Now, the various result as calculated in (I) to (IV) is, 1290.24 lit ; 2100 lit ;
3240 and 2050 lit.
So, the storage needed for the ground level reservoir of shall be a
minimum of 50% of 3240 lit.
3240 50% = 1620 lit.
Which is less than that was calculated earlier = 2025 lit.
However, a day supply may be provided in the ground level reservoir
=4050lit. to be on the save size.

Based only of these two rates a and 3a at the pattern of pumping, that is for 4
hours, 6am to 10 am and 4 hours from 2pm to 6 pm.
So, storage needed for ground level tank = maximim surplus + maximum deficit.
= 6a + 6a = 12a
= 12a average hourly system or a daily supply.
The tank will be full at 6 am that when pumping starts that day.
The tank will become empty at 6 pm that is when the pumping stopped at 6 pm
for the day.
Storage needed in ground level reservoir = = 2050 lit/day
The maximum storage in at ground level reservoir is also 50% of storage in
overhead reservoir.
So, the actual storage to be provided in this case will be decided after the
storage capacity of the overhead reservoir.

SOAK PIT
NOTE: - if the percolation rate exceeds 30 minute the soil is not suitable
for soak pit. If the percolation rate exceeds 60 minutes the soil is not
suitable for any soil absorption system.
Taking septic tank effluents to be 30(L/M2/DAY) effluent entering in the
soak pit =900 liter.
Assuming, percolation rate of local soil 10 minutes. Considering to 10
minutes using table IS: 2470 (Part ii) 1985.
Allowable maximum rate of effluents application capacity of soil=65
L/M2/DAY
Therefore effective side of wall area =900/65=13.85 M2 .
Assume depth of soak pit=2M
Therefore absorption area soak pit =DH
Where D= Dia. Of soak pit
H=Height of soak
pit
So, DH=13.85
So, D=2.2M

The least total time required to complete all the works that fall on path
(3,4,5) is 86 weeks and path (2,6,7) is 80 weeks and path (11,12) is 97
weeks. But works of other routes cannot be completed in 97 weeks which
is the maximum time required among these paths. The maximum total
duration for path (1), (8), (9) and (10) is 103 weeks.
In 103 weeks all the works which fall along any other paths can be
completed. Hence total project time is 103 weeks which has a maximum
duration among all other paths.
Therefore, the total project time may be defined as the maximum time
among all the paths required for passing from initial starting point or
event up to the completion point or event.
