How It Started
Michael Jackson got talking to Quincy Jones on the set of The
Wiz Which was an urban version of the wizard of Oz with a
predominantly black cast.
He asked Jones to recommend producers for his upcoming
solo project
Jones oered a few names but eventually oered to produce
the album himself
Jackson agreed and they got to work immediately

Wall
This is s2ll to this day one of the most recognized pop records
in the world
It sold 20 million copies world wide

Despite these gures Jackson thought that this album had
underachieved his expecta2ons.

Thriller (1982)
For the album Thriller, Jackson chose to work with Quincy
Jones again.
Thriller took around 8 months to record at Westlake
Recording studios during which their rela2onship became
very strained
This album features various musicians on many of the tracks
and singles such as Eddie Van Halen and Paul McCartney
Both Jones and Jackson were very ambi2ous with this record
since they both had goals they wanted to achieve through it.
Quincy Jones wanted to save the music industry while Jackson
wanted to become the biggest and wealthiest star in the
industry.

Thriller climbed the charts to number 1 in many countries
It was such a success that at its peak it sold about 1 million
copy's every week.
The album received extremely favorable reviews from
magazines and newspapers such as Rolling Stone and the
New York Times.

The involvement of Quincy Jones in Michael Jacksons life was
probably why Thriller was such a success.
Thriller lea a a historical legacy throughout the
entertainment industry and video industry.
Its inuence even extends to the present day where it
con2nues to rank highly in various popularity lists.
Without Quincys involvement Thriller would not have been
the colossal success it turned out to be.
