Tension/Gauge: 5.5mm
To achieve a good result it is essential to make a
tension square: 18 sts & 26 rows using Garter Stitch
& 5.5mm needles= 10 cm (4 inch) square

Stitches Used: Garter Stitch, using 5.5mm


needles. Knit every row.

Instructions
The completed scarf measures 20 cm (8 in) wide & 170 cm (67 in) long.
Using 5.5 mm needles cast on 36 sts. Work in Garter St for 170 cm (67 in) [442 rows] total.
Then cast off all sts cutting yarn 10 cm (4 in) from work.
Using a wool needle darn the ends of the yarn through the work for a few stitches along a row then
cut off excess yarn.

Work 480 rows (2 m/78 in) in garter stitch.
Cast off all the stitches and cut the yarn, leaving a 10
cm (4 in) length of yarn.
Using a tapestry needle, insert the loose ends along
the edges, 2 stitches in from edge across several
rows and trim excess yarn.

The finished snood measured flat is approximately
30 cm (11 in) wide & 22 cm (8 in) long.
Using 6.0 mm needles cast on 33 sts.
Starting with a knit row work in St st for 60 cm
(23in) [114 rows] total.
Cast off all the sts and cut the yarn 130 cm from the
knitting. This yarn will be used to sew the seam.
Fold the snood in half (right sides together),
matching the points A & A and B & B, then make a
back-stitch seam between AA to BB
(see instruction pages).
With the wool needle, slip the tail end of the yarn
through a few rows at the edge and cut the extra
yarn off.

Stitches Used: The snood is made using a strand
of colour A and a strand of colour B knitted
together. Prepare the yarn before starting by
winding the two balls together.
Garter St (G-St), using 2 strands of yarn &
5.0mm needles.
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Repeat Row 1 throughout.

Tension/Gauge:
To achieve a good result it is essential to make
a tension square: 15.5 sts and 28 rows over G-St
using 2 strands of yarn together and 5.0 mm
needles = 10 cm (4 in) square.

Instructions
Cast off all the sts and cut the yarn 80 cm (31 in) from the work. This will be used to sew the seam.
Fold the snood in half and using the wool needle stitch the side seam. Slip the remaining yarn through a
few stitches and cut off. Secure and weave in all ends in the same way.

Tension/Gauge:
To achieve a good result it is essential to make a
tension square: 17 sts and 23 rows over St st using
5.0 mm needles= 10 cm (4 in) square.

Stitches used
Stocking st (St st), using 5.0 mm needles.
Reverse Stocking st (Rev St st), using 5.0 mm needles.

Instructions
1st & 2nd pieces (make 2 alike):
CO 26-30 sts.
Row 1: k 2-3, p2, k2, p2, k 10-12, p2, k2, p2, k2-3.
Row 2: Work the sts as they appear.
This sets the patt, cont until work measures 8.5 cm
(3 in) [20 rows] total.
Next row (dec): k 2-3, p2, k2, p2, k 3-4, sl1, k1, psso,
k2tog, k 3-4, p2, k2, p2, k 2-3.
Rep these decs in the same place as before on every
10th row 4 times, working 1 st less before the psso
and 1 st less after the k2tog.
When work measures 30-34 cm (12-13 in) [7282 rows] total, leave the rem 16-20 sts on a spare
needle.
Heel:
Pick up the 16-20 sts from each of the 2 pieces on
the same needle. Leaving the 1st and last 7-9 sts
unworked, cont on the central 18-22 sts as folls:
Sl the 1st st, k 6-8, sl1, k1, psso, k2tog, k 7-9.
Cont in St st, leaving 1 st unworked at the beg of
every row until there are 6 sts in the centre.
Cont in St st, working 1 extra st at the beg of every
row until there are 16-20 sts on the needle.
Foot:
Work across all 30-38 sts for 14-16 cm (5-6 in)
[30-36 rows ].

Toe:
Next row (dec): k 2-3, p2, k2, p1, k2tog, sl1, k1, psso,

This row sets the pattern, rep these decs in the same
place as before by working 1 st less at the start &
end of the decs and 2 sts less at the centre decs on
every alt row twice, then every row 1-2 times.
Close the end of the toe by grafting the rem 1418sts and working together the 1st and last 2 sts.
TO MAKE UP
Using the 4.5 mm crochet hook make a chain
approx 90 cm in length and lace the back of the
sock as folls: pass the chain through the 1st purl st
at each edge and cross every 8th row. Crochet a
second chain approx 110 cm in length and lace the
top of the foot and front of sock in the same way as
for the back. Make 4 pompoms approx 3 cm
diameter and fix each of them to a chain end.
Stitch on the soles using cross stitch.

TO MAKE UP
Prepare fastener: to aid fixing to garment, pierce the
section of the fastener that will be sewn to garment
at regular intervals (using a sewing machine or a
sewing needle).
Using a sewing needle, sew the looped section to
the left edge 5 cm (2 in) from the top letting the
loop protrude. Sew the other section to the right at
the same height 18 cm (7 in) from edge.
