Summary This Information Bulletin advises of a 2.5 per cent increase in the rates of
pay and allowances effective from the beginning of the first pay period to
commence on or after 1 July 2015 following a decision of the Industrial
Relations Commission of NSW.

INFORMATION BULLETIN
SALARY INCREASES FOR STAFF IN THE NSW HEALTH SERVICE

HSU AND ASMOF AWARDS
PURPOSE
To advise of increases in rates of pay and allowances from the beginning of the first pay
period to commence on or after 1 July 2015, to classifications in the NSW Health
Service covered by the Health Services Union (HSU) NSW (excluding Ambulance
Officers and Ambulance Managers) and the Australian Salaried Medical Officers
Federation (ASMOF) (Career Medical Officers, Medical Officers, Medical
Superintendents only).
KEY INFORMATION
New Awards containing classifications covered by the HSU NSW and ASMOF were
made by the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW to incorporate an increase in
wages and wage related allowances of 2.5 per cent effective from the beginning of the
first pay period to commence on or after 1 July 2015.
Detail on the new rates of pay and allowances are provided in the attached schedule.

Allied Health Assistants
Staff who are classified and paid as Technical Assistant Grade 1, Diversional Therapist
Without Diploma and Technical Assistant Orthotic / Prosthetic Levels 1 and 2 will not
receive the 2.5 per cent wage increase from 1 July 2015.
The HSU sought to exclude these classifications from the wage increase in order that
the work value / special case regarding allied health assistant work (Matter No IRC 515
of 2014) can continue to run and not be affected by the No Extra Claims period which is
in place until 30 June 2016. The NSW Ministry of Health agreed with the HSUs
proposal.
Future wage increase/s for these staff, including effective date/s, will be determined in
Matter No IRC 515 of 2014.
Laundry, Uniform and Climatic / Isolation Allowances
Laundry, uniform and climatic/isolation allowances have been increased by 1.3 per cent
from the first pay period to commence on or after 1 July 2015 in line with the percentage
change in the All Groups CPI Weighted Average for the 8 Capital Cities March Quarter
2014 to March Quarter 2015.
Accommodation and Board
The amounts that may be deducted for accommodation and board under the Health
Employees Conditions of Employment (State) Award have been adjusted in line with the
2.5 per cent increase as follows:

Annual Leave Loading

The maximum annual leave loading has been increased to $1800.00 effective from the
beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after 1 July 2015.
Overtime Barrier
The overtime barrier for Health Managers has been capped at maximum Level 4, that
is, Health Managers classified at Level 5 and 6 are not entitled to overtime. The
overtime barrier for former administrative and clerical public staff is $1867.00 per week
from the beginning of the first pay period to commence on or after 1 July 2015.
Salary Maintenance
Under PD2012_021 - Managing Excess Staff of the NSW Health Service, certain staff
are entitled to transitional arrangements in regards salary maintenance (see Attachment
3 of Appendix 3 of PD2012_021).
Those salary maintenance arrangements reference the Clerk Grade 10 (max) salary
under the Crown Employees (Public Sector Salaries 2008) Award. The maximum rate
payable is $110,560 per annum from the beginning of the first pay period to commence
on or after 1 July 2015.
