1st ARNOLDUS INTER- HIGH SCHOOL QUIZ BEE

General Rules and Mechanics
Background:
Divine Word College of Legazpi in celebration of its 55th Founding Anniversary with the

1stArnoldus Quiz, an Inter-High School Quiz Bee that will showcase Albayano students skills/
intelligence in four subjects particularly in English, Mathematics, Science and Araling Panlipunan.
This contest would also motivate interested students to join and could be a great experience for
them in their lifetime.

To establish camaraderie among public and private secondary schools in Albay.

To promote DWCL.
To encourage more students to enroll in DWCL.
To set an environment which the DWCL could be noted as giving opportunity and
importance to every student.

Eligibility:

1. The competition is open to all public and private secondary schools in the province of
Albay.
The participating school can send two (2) teams per subject.
3. The participating school must properly fill-out and submit the Registration form on or
before 12:00 noon of February 5, 2016 (Friday).
4. A registration fee of Php100.00 per team will be collected before the contest proper on
February 11, 2016.

Participating Team:
1. A team shall be composed of two (2) regular contestants (Grade 10) and a coach per
subject.
2. Members of each team should wear their proper uniform and valid school ID upon
registration for identity verification.
3. All teams are expected to report on the venue 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the
competition. Failure to do so will forfeit the teams chance to join the competition.

Source of Questions:
1. Each category will have a Technical Working Group (TWG) all coming from Divine Word
College of Legazpi and are tasked in making the questions that will be used for the
competition.
Contest Mechanics:
1. Each subject area competition will be composed of an Easy, Average, and Difficult Round
with ten (10) questions each. Questions may be in a form of multiple choice, identification,
analogy, and or open-ended.
2. Coaching or any form of cheating is not allowed during the competition proper; such acts
will demerit the team or will result to the teams disqualification.
3. In between subject area competition, there will be 5 minute break.
4. In case of same standing, tie breaking questions will be given.
5. The 1stArnoldus Quiz Inter-High School Quiz Bee Committee shall declare the top three (3)
winners per subject. Their decision shall be FINAL and EXECUTORY.
Reading Mechanics:
1. Questions may be in a form of multiple choice, identification, analogy, and or open-ended.
2. Questions will be read twice.
3. After the question has been read twice, the contestant will be given ten (10) seconds (unless
otherwise specified) to write on their answers. The quizmaster will say STOP signaling
the team to raise their answer sheets.

Answers must be printed legibly and in UPPERCASE/ CAPITALIZED form.
Only complete answers will be merited and will be counted.

Protest Mechanics:
1. No complaints regarding a previous question will be accepted and entertained after the
quizmaster has read the next question.
2. All complaints shall be addressed at once to the Technical Working Group of each subject.
Prizes:
1. Cash prize and Certificate of Recognition will be awarded to the top three (3) teams:
