Introduction to School of Electronics and Information Engineering:
School of Electronics and Information Engineering (SEIE) of Beihang University (originally Department
of Electronic Engineering) is one of the earliest department of aeronautic electronic engineering founded in
China, which has a history of 50 years.
SEIE composes of more than ten multidiscipline research laboratories and centers including a national
open laboratory for electronic system and measurement-control technology, an key avionics laboratory of
aviation ministry, a teaching center of experiment and practice, GPS research center, BUAA-Angilent
electronic R&D center, Ansoft-BUAA training center and Willim C.Y. Li communication R&D center, etc.
SEIE has 146 faculty and staff members, including 23 professors and 55 associate professors, in which
22 professors are doctoral supervisors. The school has already cultivated more than 10000 undergraduates,
graduates, doctors and post-doctoral fellows. The number of the students in campus is 960 for undergraduate
students and more than 1000 for Master and Ph.D. candidates.
In SEIE, Long term academic exchanges, joint laboratories and contracted projects have been established
and performed with reputed universities, research institutes and industries in China and abroad.

Science and EngineeringSASEis one of the best departments and with the feature of aeronautic and
astronautic in Beihang University. With strong faculty, there are 58 professors(51 doctoral tutors), 48 vice
professors, 70% of the staff are teachers, 83% of young teachers are with doctoral degree, more than 50
teachers have the experience of research on doctoral degree and post-doctoral degree. The school has 4 units
as subordinate departments, which are: Aircraft Department, Research Institute of Fluid Mechanics, Research
Institute of Solid Mechanics, Department of Human-Aircraft and Environment Engineering, involving 4 first
class disciplines and 7 second class disciplines. Of all the first class disciplines, the Aeronautic and
Astronautic Science and Technology ranks the first in the whole nation, while Mechanics ranks the second
and Traffic Transportation ranks the third. The school has 8 doctor stations, 7 master stations and 3
post-doctor moving stations. Mechanics, Aeronautic and Astronautic Science and Technology, and Traffic
Transportation Engineering are first class doctor stations. Fluid Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Aircraft Design,
Human-Aircraft and Environment Engineering, and Engineering Mechanics are national key disciplines. The
school also has Beijing Mechanics Educational Demonstrating Center, Aeronautic Innovation and Practice
Base, Airplanes Display Room, Solid Mechanics Educational Experimental Center, Flying Control and
Simulation Lab, Environmental Simulation and Imitation Lab. Furthermore, the national famous aeronautic
education and popular science base -- Beijing Aeronautic Museum, is also built in the school. Today, the
school has developed into a national top-ranking aeronautic school, which is also an important base for
cultivating aeronautic and astronautic talent people with high qualities, as well as a science research base for

Bachelor Program of International Economics and Trade

Introduction to School of Economics and Management:
School of Economics & Management of Beihang University (BUAA), originally established in 1956 as a
Department of Aeronautic Engineering Economics, is one of the first founded Management Schools among
technology and engineering based universities in China. Over the past 50 years, the School has achieved her
nationwide prestige in scientific research and training program. With more than 5000 B.S., M.S., and PhD
Degree students graduated from the school, the school has been providing excellent and talented management
experts and economists in various areas, working industriously for development of aeronautic and astronautic
industries as well as other key industries and business sectors in national economy. The school consists of
seven Departments: Business Administration, Information System, Management Science and Engineering,
International Economics and Trade, Insurance & Risk Management, Finance, and Accounting.
There are four major research centers in the School. 4 laboratories are running at the School. The school
also owns one a 350 square meter library with more than 50 international journals in academic and business
management fields (English version) and more than 100 domestic published key journals in management and
economics. More than 10000 English and Chinese version of professional books are collected in the library.
PhD thesis and master degree thesis of the School graduates for past 20 years are also collected in the library.

Bachelor Program of Civil Engineering

Introduction to Department of Civil Engineering:
Established in 1999, the Department of Civil Engineering at Beihang University is committed to offering
a broad range of high-quality educational programs and state-of-the-art research opportunities within the field.
Our educational programs in both undergraduate and graduate level provide students a sound foundation in
the fundamentals of science and engineering coupled with proficient technical expertise in specialized fields,
preparing students for leadership in the profession of civil engineering. Our interdisciplinary research
activities give students a variety of opportunities to work on problems beyond traditional areas of the field.
Currently there are 18 full-time faculty members in the Department of Civil Engineering dedicated to the
education of more than 200 undergraduate students and 80 graduate students. All faculty members including 6
professors, 6 associate professors and 6 lecturers, earn the PhD degree from the most prestigious universities
in China and oversea. 90% of our faculty members have research experience abroad in U.S., Europe and
Japan. The department also has ten adjunct professors from other top universities and research institutions
across the country, including a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
There are four fully-equipped laboratories in the Department of Civil Engineering facilitating the
education and research need. Through the extensive training in the Structural Engineering Laboratory,
Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory, Construction Materials Laboratory and Surveying Information
Technology Laboratory, students earn hands-on experience in broad fields of specialization in civil
engineering.
The interdisciplinary research in the Department of Civil Engineering attracts significant support from
the governmental and provincial foundation and corporate collaboration funds. The faculties also remain
active research collaborations with internationally renowned researchers in U.S., Europe and Japan. Our
faculties are actively engaged in the following research areas: advanced structural analysis, constitutive
theory of rock/soil materials and slope stability analysis, chemistry in rock materials, durability of
cement-based materials, structural health monitoring of infrastructure, safety study and durability of airport
pavement, structural modeling and numerical simulations, smart materials in civil engineering and advanced
geomatics technologies.
