Installation of Dry Welding Habitat to repair corroded casing

1) Prepare operational equipment:

1.1 Purpose prebuilt parts of dry habitat
1.2 Chain hoists, for lifting parts of dry habitat in to position, lower down
1.3 Brace tubular for temporary holding, and restrain the installed dry habitat
1.4 Diving support
1.5 Environmental control equipment, such as pump for dewatering and air supply,
lighting
1.6 Welding equipment (GTAW or SMAW)
1.7 Weld inspection equipment
1.8 Equipment to remove marine growth and grit blast?
2) By diver, using high-pressure water jetting to clean the marine growth at the casing near
water surface and under water surface
3) Lift and install bottom section of dry habitat
3.1 Lifting two parts of bottom section of dry habitat by chain hoists, bring in to
position
3.2 While temporary holding above water surface, check the fixing of preinstall side
wall and bottom wall that the neoprene seal properly installed in the wall socket
3.3 Bring two parts of dry habitat to connect together, tightening the bolts along
vertical side wall and bottom wall longitudinal joint to seal for water tight.
3.4 Check the fixing of preinstall inflatable neoprene (two pieces of half ring shape),
into to the socket around the 9-5/8 inch casing, and two pieces of I-shape
neoprene in between the ends of half ring inflatable neoprene, that they are
properly installed in the socket.
3.5 Use the chain hoists to slowly lower down the connected bottom section dry
habitat
4) Lift and install second section of dry habitat
4.1 Lifting two parts of second section of dry habitat by chain hoist, bring in to
position on top of the bottom section
4.2 Check the fixing of preinstall circumferential and vertical side wall that the
neoprene seal properly installed in the socket
4.3 Connect the two parts of side wall by tightening the bolts along vertical
longitudinal joint to seal for water tight.
4.4 Connect the circumferential seal joint between bottom and second section
together by tightening the bolts along circumferential joint
4.5 Use the chain hoists to slowly lower down the connected dry habitat to the predetermined level
5) Lift and install third section of dry habitat by repeat the sequence as per number 4. (the
third section is optional in case of require to cover the repair location/level)

6) When the connected dry habitat has lower down to the pre-determined level, set all the
hanger chain hoist lock, install and tie bracing to prevent lateral movement of dry habitat
7) Inflate the inflatable neoprene at bottom casing seal joint to water tight around the casing
8) Dewatering water out from the inner habitat and dry inside the habitat

After the dry welding habitat properly installed,

Lower down the fresh air duct in to the dry habitat to supply fresh air
Bring down welding equipment and transfer the repair crew inside dry habitat
Clean the corroded surface of the casing (by grit blasting ?) in preparation for welding
half shell pipes
5) Dry weld (by GTAW or SMAW) the half shell pipes along the require length to reinforce
the casing
6) Perform welding inspection
7) When completed, remove the dry habitat by reverse the installation sequence.
