Details:
On 22/12/2015 at around 09:30hrs, Mr. Masood Akhter CPR#810437139 was lifting scaffolding
planks/boards, during the task suddenly he sustained severe back pain. He was taken to Al Rayan
hospital at around 11:00hrs.
Investigation:
Investigation revealed that Mr. Masood Akhter CPR#810437139 was working at Al Dur Power and Water
Plant with the scaffolding team for erecting scaffold. While shifting the scaffolding materials at STG 20
by passing the materials manually upward suddenly he sustained muscle cramp at the back after lifting
4m scaffolding plank. Immediately after he sustained the injury, he was given First Aid by the Al Dur
medical team and he was taken to Al Rayan Hospital for further treatment. After the checkup, the doctor
told it was a minor injury (cramp) due to the weakness and lack of nutrients.
Findings/Conclusion:

Directly lifted heavy materials without any warm up procedure.


Safe manual handling technique was applied.
Weakness of the body.

Recommendations:

Warm up is a must before any lifting job.

Maintain good health and consume more nutritional food.


Do not work if you are not feeling 100% well.
Toolbox talks to be conducted for all regarding Safe Working Procedures and Manual Handling
Technique.
